Again, sorry, I don't have time right now to sculpt this down. Seems I have a home life I'm also supposed to pay attention to.
Ep.26:
Scribe Hong runs to his home and rechecks the maps, remembering what Song told him about the fireworks being placed close to the royal family. He realizes there’ll be explosives in San’s box, and that they mean to kill Ladies Hye and Hyeoui, as well.
At the palace, there is a replay of the guards and the plotter putting in the explosive in the end box, but he comes back later and puts more explosives in the box. However, someone moved the boxes and this is a different box from the first one (watch the symbol). San meets the Minister of Culture and asks why his seat was changed, and Lord Kim steps in and says San has to give a speech. Princess and Jeong overhear; they are confident Lord Kim has been quashed.
At Dowahseo, Mr. Park leaves Mr. Kang (Jeong’s man) in charge and heads to the palace. There, Lady Hye runs into Lord Kim, snubs him, and joins Hyeoui on her way to the party. Outside, Scribe Hong tries to bluff his way in with his Inspector pass, but there’s a special pass that day and he doesn’t have it. Then the gates are closed for the day.
Yeong-jo and Queen head on in. The party starts. There are drummers, dancers and acrobats. Dae-su sees the gunmen and asks one to tell him if he “sees a problem,” but the guy says he can handle problems himself (he has a gun). Everyone is nervous about the gunmen, but they don’t seem to be doing anything. Eun. Nam sees San sitting in front of the first box of explosives.
Mr. Hong asks Uncle (who is trying to fend off tavern lady) about any artists he may know. Uncle tells him about Mr. Lee, who is at the gisaeng house. Lee gets Hong a red seal, which will admit him to the palace (not the party), and Hong gets in. Dae-su anxiously watches the gun-shooting demonstration from afar, but much to everyone’s relief, nothing happens to San. Hong finally gets to Dae-su and tells him what the plot actually is.
Everyone has fun watching the main fireworks display. Dae-su and Hong cannot get in to the party area, but Hong sends a message to San via a guard. That guard gives the message to his chief, who takes it to Lord Kim, who hides it.
Hong and Dae-su can’t figure out why San has not left. The fire that will travel to the Royals’ personal fireworks boxes is lit. First, the King, and then the Queen, light up. Next, San’s two young brothers, sitting next to Princess. It looks like the second explosive box was placed in front of Princess, but just before the fire gets to her, it goes out. She tells the festival minister not to bother with firing hers, just go on with the fun. So Lady Hye, Hyeoui and San re-light the fuse on their side, while Dae-su and Hong watch in horror from afar and Lord Kim smirks. Dae-su runs down and relieves one of the gunmen of his weapon; the guy fights him back but D-S wins. Dae-su shoots a vase next to San, so his party is dragged away by the guards before the box can explode. When it does, everyone is dragged away, and Princess gets up from her seat just before her box explodes, too. Jung and everyone are really surprised by that.
Princess is injured, was critical but now stable. The elder prince (Eun-un) is injured, but not critical. The younger prince only has some scrapes. Yeong-jo gets a report and demands to see Princess as soon as she wakes.
In San’s office, Dae-su confesses to shooting at San to make him move, greeted first by shock then approbation. He then confesses Hong was in charge of the investigation. San asks Nam to bring Hong to him.
Yeong-jo calls a court meeting. He demands to know how this outrage occurred. The ministers make their usual offer of their lives, and Y-J takes them up on it. He wants everyone from the Minister of Culture down who worked on the festivities to be arrested and interrogated.
The Queen orders her weeping brother to get out of her sight forever. He claims he did it for her sake; she’s having none of it. Sir Choi and Jeong arrive and talk while Lord Kim cowers in the background. It seems the high tribunal is a Noron, so Sir Choi might get him to ease up on the investigation, but Yeong-jo is loaded for bear over the treason. Jeong assures Queen that he’ll take care of everything. Outside, after Choi leaves, Kim tries to say tell Jeong to butt out. Jeong calls him a fool and says he’s going to have to answer to Jeong from now on. Lord Kim harrumphs, but acquiesces. Jeong demands every detail of the plot.
Later, Jeong tells his man to have the arsenal master killed, leaving no trace, and to find out who shot at San at the party.
Ladies Hye and Hyeoui, and their ladies, discuss the incident. It can’t be an accident, says Hye, but this gives San an opportunity to discover the mastermind behind all the attempts on his life.
San and Hong meet and clear up their misunderstandings. Hong says San simply must reveal the culprits behind the entire plot this time, and if Hong can investigate, he is confident he’ll discover the very root.
Princess wakes up, furious. She thinks she was a target, but Jeong assures her it was just a foul-up. He plans to implicate San himself in the gunpowder plot, getting rid of him and taking the Queen’s power in one blow.
Yeong-jo visits Princess in her sick room. She pretends she thinks the plot was against her, that “someone” who hates her did it. She won’t say who, even though he demands a name. Elsewhere, Jeong receives a report on the shooter. It was a royal guard, and the marksman whose gun was taken remembers his face.
At the guard training yard, Dae-su plus Two discuss the incident. Song arrives and she and D-S have a little talk. As they leave, the police arrive with the gunman, who identifies Dae-su. D-S is arrested. When his two buddies object, they too are arrested. San learns this from Eun. Nam. San goes to the Tribunal and demands the return of his three guards.
