This thread is for discussion of episode 6 of My Man's Woman. Please check the drama info & schedule thread for more info and rules on how to avoid spoilers and such.
---------------------------------------------------------
Ji Soo goes to see Hwa Young. They talk about their friendship and Joon Pho. Hwa Young tells Ji Soo she doesn't want to share Joon Pho anymore. Her reason for coming clean about the affair is that she wants Joon Pho all to herself.
Ji Soo returns home and fights with Joon Pho about Hwa Young. Joon Pho calls Hwa Young and argues with her about what she told Ji Soo.
Ji Soo locks Joon Pho out of the bedroom. He attempts to explain his side of things from behind the door but that just leads to Ji Soo hyperventilating again.
The next day while going out to get fresh air Joon Pho runs into Dal Sam. Dal Sam tells Joon Pho the best way to resolve things is to have Hwa Young leave the country. Joon Pho doesn't want to do that. He wants to leave her alone.
Ji Soo tells Eun Soo that she wants a divorce but Eun Soo doesn't want to hear it. She tells Ji Soo that divorce isn't an option without her own source of income.
Ji Soo goes into raging fits at random times. Dal Sam suggests to Joon Pho that he take a trip with Ji Soo to help her calm down and try to repair their marriage.
---------------------------------------------------------
At first, I wasn't sure why Eun Soo was so adamantly against Ji Soo getting a divorce. After hearing everything she had to say, I can understand what she's getting at. I don't agree with everything she had to say but, if you think about it from a Korean perspective, it makes sense. Korea is a male dominated country. It wouldn't be uncommon for a woman to end up with nothing after a divorce. While divorce rates in Korea have gone up, those are mostly cases in which financial stability isn't an issue. Or, the spouse asking for the divorce [if it's not a mutual agreement] doesn't care if they get nothing, they simply want out of the marriage no matter what.
I've liked Ji Soo's reactions over the last 2 episodes. At first, she was in shock and wasn't sure how to react. As reality has set in and she takes time to think about what has transpired, the angrier she's gotten and the more she lashes out. I would think that's a normal response, no?.
