Ep.15 synopsis (Excellent episode, as always.)
Taesok's specifically accused of blackmailing Atty Cho into the interview, leading to his suicide because of the harassment, and extracting the memory chip with the same methods. Dir Lee (Younghwan Const) leaks info to the other news outlets, all of whom smear Taesok and GBS out of jealousy. Mr. Ahn is beside himself; he can't get anywhere with releasing Taesok and thinks "something bigger" is happening. Cong. Oh (T's dad) meets with the guy who betrayed T, who tells him he had to or something "worse" would happen. Wujin and Sungchul find footage of the NIS agents coming in with Atty Cho, proving the government was in on it; she uses it to blackmail the NIS agent into (1) dropping the charges against T, and (2) getting her a meeting with Younghwan Const. At the meeting (with Dir Lee, to whom she refers as a lackey), she tells him to tell his boss they'd better make the zone development on the up-and-up or she'll go after them no matter what. T is released from jail, but GBS is still under attack. Then they are audited, people are fired and they resent T's "arrogance." There's a lot of discussion at GBS of whether it's more important to tell the truth or more important to survive and fight another day. Finally, Cong. Oh agrees to help Younghwan, for the price of them “putting a stop to this.” Taesok, Wujin and Sungchul, continuing their investigations alone, find that there is a dummy corporation that is distributing shares of the casino at the project, and nobody knows that company. T posits that the shares are held by congresspeople or their families, or wealthy people, who can hide the money overseas. T meets his contact (who sold him out), receives an apology and an offer of help finding out about the casino shares. Later, T is told to meet him at Inchon airport to get the list of casino shareholders from "someone in New York"--in that call, he confirms T's thesis, says the shares are held by government people's families and Younghwan execs. While at the airport, the contact (a) hears from T's dad, (b) sees Cong. Oh's name on the list, (c) meets him in a cafe, (d) gives him the list, and (e) leaves Korea. T and W try to call the contact, but he's shut off his phone. T thinks something terrible has happened; T and W are confronted in the airport parking lot by what looks an awful lot like three well-dressed young thugs.
My thoughts:
The auditors always descend like vultures on these shows, and they actually seem rather inept.
Also, I laughed pretty much, when Wujin told Dir Lee to stop the zone development and he says, "Real estate values will skyrocket," she responds, "That’s probably why you bought it all ahead of time." Har. Also when she told him, "You're probably very busy with all your secret activities, I'll go now." Double har.
