This was not nearly the movie I expected from the title, but it certainly was a winner, IMHO. Very sad movie, but it didn't make you feel hopeless, either (I watched both airings this evening). Oddly, after going back to the Mhz listing to see their synopsis, I discovered that one of the leads was the highly talented Son_Ye-jin, who also starred in Summer Scent, and Alone in Love. I think it's kind of funny that she has been in all three of these wonderful offerings, but because of different ages at the time of filming and different hair styles and a very broad range of acting style, I have not recognized her in these roles as the same person. Great movie, if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it (have tissues on hand )

Thanks for the recommendation. Darn it, I meant to watch it but didn't get the chance--and I would really like to see how that actress did. She was excellent in Alone in Love. Definitely will keep watch out for the film. MhZ seems to repeat things every so often so hopefully it will be back.

In case you're an insomniac, or if you have the capability to record off-air, the Thursday night Korean shows are repeated at [glow=red,2,300]3AM, Monday mornings[/glow] (or, Sunday night if you stay up late, like I do). I just checked the schedule and Lover's Concerto is listed for rebroadcast 3AM, 4/25 (times posted are for Eastern time zone). mhznetworks.com/mhz-in-dc/schedulesGood luck.

Thanks! I was about to go looking for that very information and appreciate your digging it up. I thought I remembered stumbling across an Alone in Love rebroadcast very late one sleepless Sunday night. I'll definitely set the VCR and catch the movie.
In the future we'll have to make sure that those rerun times are mentioned when MhZ broadcasts are listed here. They do have a very good schedule section on their website that covers 24/7 and lets you look weeks ahead.

I'm sure it's been posted elsewhere, but if there's a link to this web page that covers 24/7, maybe it would be a good idea to pin it to the top of this forum, ajk. I'd do it if I knew where to find it. Bo

Well, CV, I did tape the thing and got to watch 80% of it...and then, blank screen. Apparently the MhZ feed cut out in the middle of the night. So I'm just going to order a used DVD and catcht the rest. It was well-done enough that I'd like to know how it ends. Definitely very well-produced and well-acted. Some things in the storyline that just absolutely did not make sense to me at all, but I'll reserve judgment until I see the whole thing. I didn't recognize that actress either, at least not on sight. She definitely does have a different look about her. But for some reason I recognized her voice and speaking style immediately. And the other female lead, never saw her before and went looking for info on her (okay, she's gorgeous)...and found out she killed herself in 2005. Very sad story. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Eun-ju

Sorry to hear about your failed viewing attempt. Yes, I, too, have experienced the dreaded "blackout" when opting to view the second airing of the dramas, but fortunately I have been able to watch those online. Well, at least you'll have a better understanding of the action watching the second time around. Rather than purchase, perhaps you can look into that rental club that Ken has mentioned. I believe there's also a rental club through the Philly board (contact mtlandis, she's active here). I just found this: Veoh. Download their player and watch it online www.veoh.com/watch/v17327934Yx9rrz2FHere's another one in 11 parts, no download required: Dramaair.com dramaair.com/air-drama-movie-play.php?mid=6582[glow=red,2,300]I'm just viewing this one right now and it looks much better than it did on TV....[/glow] Even better, I clicked on the video and got to the acutal Youtube feed so that you can watch a larger screen image. Happy viewing!www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HUYRyX1FTIVery sad to hear about the actress, too. I just don't understand what it is about the Korean star system that drives all these entertainers to suicide, but then again I do. They have a very rigorous training period in the music industry (10 years of daily training I've heard) and to commit that much of your life into a career that fizzles just after it launches would probably have the same effect on me, too.

Thanks for the links; very nice of you. Actually I found a DVD for $8.50 including shipping, so what the heck--if I like it, then I'll keep it and it's worth the price, and if not, I can pass it along and I still got to see it. (Plus, I don't have broadband at home yet.)
I'm shocked to hear there's so much training in the music industry--most of what comes out of it is the same lightweight drivel that we get here in the USA! Anyway, that actress, apparently she had a pretty serious depression problem, and according to her bio she did some nude scenes that she later regretted. What a shame that she couldn't get help in time.

I'm shocked to hear there's so much training in the music industry--most of what comes out of it is the same lightweight drivel that we get here in the USA! Ha ha, you assume that they're spending time on the music, they spend all that time rehearsing dance routines. The music is churned out by producers and writers; very few musicians have anything to do with the creation of the songs. Glad to hear you got the DVD so cheaply. Where did you find it?

I owe you one, CV--very glad I made myself get that DVD and see the whole thing. Very good movie. You're right about the title--based on the title and the early scenes, things didn't unfold like the viewer might have expected. And the ending, for me it was extra-sad, after learning what happened to the actress in real life. Nice soundtrack too; have to see if I can track down an OST CD.
Definitely a keeper. Thanks for the original post! Any tips on the rest of the upcoming movies?

Here’s a follow-up: Glad I bought the DVD. But the OST, that’s another matter entirely.
The main theme music for this film is terrific. It’s so well-written that I wanted to transcribe it and learn it myself. So I ordered the OST CD...foolishly thinking that the main theme would be included on the CD. What a chump I was! No main theme; instead there are 14 mostly vocal tracks of the most vanilla, squishy, namby-pamby stuff I’ve ever heard. Most of it I don’t even remember hearing in the movie. And no kidding about it being soft—it makes Celine Deon sound like a metalhead. If this were a US film I'd be complaining like heck to the producers about releasing a "soundtrack" that doesn't even have the opening theme. But I'm just going to get rid of the thing and be done with it.
So if anybody wants the CD, claim it here and PM me your address and I’ll gladly give it to you. Maybe it’s more suited to Korean taste, or maybe everybody on the planet will think it’s as weak as I do...but I gotta get this thing out of my house; it’s creeping me out knowing it’s sitting there plotting to turn me into a eunuch.

Yeah, I don't do OST's for that reason any longer, sorry to hear you got burned. The one drama I really longed for an OST was Wedding, and they never saw fit to release one.... Fortunately, I was able to download poor sounding mp3's of 5 song associated with the soundtrack (title track included) and thus began a happy album buying spree of Park Ki Young (she did 3 of the 5 songs, and appeared in a cameo).

Actually, I've since found out that there were two CDs released for that film and I just happened to get the wrong one. I've ordered the other one and have been assured that it actually has the movie music in it. We'll see!
