I think this is the best one I've seen so far. It's interesting. Not your typical drama.
Chef guy somehow is responsible for a girl named Mei's death. Still tormented by it. Get's pickpocketed by a young girl who looks a lot like her, she's running from some gangster guy, get's cut he saves her.
They are now living together and have to deal w/a lot of raised eyebrows (even though they aren't doing anything) because she's young. How old is she supposed to be? 17? 18?
She was hiding from the gangster, but he's found her.
That Chef guy is cute, does anybody know the actor's name?

Hi, GC. I caught this one last night but it wasn't exactly my cup of tea. Intriguing, though! I thought it was weird how, in typically nonsensical K-drama-character fashion, she steals all his money, tells him "deal with it," and immediately asks him for a huge favor, acting as though he's the one who's in the wrong for refusing! LOL
I think the character is supposed to be younger than the actress looks, because she looks to me like she's in her 20s, when the people in the restaurant were acting as though he were some kind of pedophile for being out with her. And then she said, "We're not even doing anything wrong. . . . But I'll be old enough soon."

I assumed she was a street urchin high-school dropout, so somewhere around 16-17.
I really liked this drama! I thought it was great because they managed to get away from the saccharine family dramas that never show anything bad happening - and by that I don't mean the usual cartoonish evildoings, but real-life things such as pickpocketing.
For now they're not doing anything wrong, but it was kind of weird to name her after the woman that died (maybe they're related - she could be Mei's daughter). Also, it seems like the girl kind of wants to date (she said she'd be old enough soon).
Did anyone else get the feeling that she likes him just because he used to have a girlfriend who looked like her? That she thinks that he's easy pickings or something.

I liked it for all the reason hachiue mentions, it's a good breath of fresh air. Plus, Chef's apartment is really cool. His cat is a little on the skinny side, but she's cute too.
It's so jumbled up, he likes her because she looks like Mei (or so I think) and it seems like she is taking advantage of that fact and I guess nobody had taken care of her like that before.
Did your eyes go when she put his hands under her armpits. I was like Whooa!

This mini-drama was great. I guess it did deal with the common themes, but in a much different way because of the (ahem) professions of two of the main characters.
It felt kind of unfinished, unlike the other Drama city shows that have been on. Anyone else think so?

I AGREE WITH HACHUIE. I MEAN, YOU CAN'T JUST END IT WITH HIM DYING... THAT FELT "KIND" ON HIS PART SO THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE TO FEEL THE MISERY OF WANTING TO BE WITH THE YOUNG GIRL PROBABLY AND HE KILLED THE OTHER GUY SO THAT SHE WON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.

I didn't see the second episode--would you mind letting me know briefly how it ended? Last I saw, she had just started living in the guy's place and was being called Mei.
Thanks!

I don't know if it was the setting, characters, dialogue or what, but I absolutely loved this ep. of Drama City. I definitely felt that they could have made a whole daily drama or at least a miniseries out of this one episode.
That gangster guy was crazy! How did you all react when he wacked her with the baseball bat on her knee? I jumped. OUCH!

they've gotten accustomed to living w/each other but Chef is still very reserved. He likes her and says to his Chinese herb doctor friend that when he's with her she makes him feel alive. Dr. Friend is against his situation because he reminds them that they are Chinese immigrants and they don't have many rights and are subject to a lot of restrictions and prejudices.
Mei liked living w/Chef and likes him. She asks him how to say a couple of words and jumbles together a sentence "Mei likes it when it rains, but I don't like it if you're not here." He tells her that she shouldn't get attached to him because he is someone she shouldn't love, he has no right to it.
Gangster guy ends up finding where Chef and Mei live. He's waiting for her at his apartment when she returns by herself. He tells her that she's had him worried and that she belongs to him even beyond death, he grabs a bat and WHACK! hits her on the knee with it.
They are at the police station and gangster is blaming the accident on Chef. He's going on and on about how he seduced a minor and that he was threatening her. Mei is pretty much being forced to agree w/the gangster that Chef is guilty. Chef doesn't want anything bad to happen to Mei so he takes the blame for it. She then grabs a fountain pen and cuts her arm (her wrist vein) and she's rushed to the hospital. Chef goes out to look for gangster w/his knife in hand. They fight, Chef beats gangster, stabs him, then, remembering the Original Mei and how he was responsible for her death, lets gangster stab him. They die.
Mei is in a church asking for absolution of her sins, although she's not quite sure what a sin is (her words) she exits the church, it's raining, remembers her words to Chef, "Mei likes it when it's raining, but I don't like it if you're not here."

Oh, wow, that is dark. Very dark and sad, in a good way. I sort of wish I had seen it, but it would have messed up my Winter Love Song tape.
Hey, wait! I can tape it tomorrow morning, right? Do you know what time it will be on?
Thank you very much for providing that vivid summary, Galacticchick.

I'm not sure. Wouldn't it have re-aired this morning? I wish this would have replaced MPC as a daily drama if they made it longer.

I thought the first episode would have re-run today and the second one tomorrow? But I think you're right; I'm confusing the "Winter Love Song" schedule with the daily drama schedule.

It would have re-aired Friday morning and Monday morning. Wasn't the 24th Monday? I'm confused.
I really really liked this one, especially because it wasn't as pure and hokey as the others, while still managing to be as pure and hokey as the others. Meaning: there were more difficult (and different) situations than are usually on these dramas, but the characters (except for the evil ex) were still pure.

Okay, here's how it goes:
DC airs it's first ep. on Thursday, right? Right.
That ep. would re-air on Friday morning, right? Right.
DC conclusion to the ep. would air on Friday, right? Right. That ep. would re-air Monday morning, right? Right.
Lucy wrote her message on Monday afternoon hoping to catch the re-airing on Tuesday a.m., but by then had already missed the re-airing of the conclusion. Comprende?

Quote: His cat is a little on the skinny side, but she's cute too.Aw, she's just a little kitten. She's got time to fill out. It was cute when Mei introduced herself to the cat.
Quote: Did your eyes go when she put his hands under her armpits. I was like Whooa!Yeah . . . And my second thought was, "Hmm, I believe that you treat frostbite immediately, not at some indefinite time in the future." When is this frostbite supposed to have happened? I know he's had some kind of gnarly stuff going on with his hands for a while, hasn't he?
