I'm currently watching a rerun of Tears of the Dragon on a Korean channel. Looking at Yoo Dong Geun's performance as Yi Bangwon, I think he might be able to pull it off as Bae Jungson, assuming he's cast for the role. Even though I always saw Choi Jae-sung for the role but whatever. If that actress is in it, I 'll say why is a woman in this drama? Women have no place in dramas like this.
Yi Hwan Kyung was also the screenwriter of Tears of the Dragon, Emperor Wang Guhn, and Dawn of the Empire. You liked Tears, right? I'm going to assume in your eyes, he seems to be losing his touch.
I always viewed a drama about the Sambyeolcho Rebellion to be 30 episodes for whatever reason. Finally, a drama about it. Considering this is coming from MBC, the armor is likely going to be fantasy like. What does Goryeo armor look like anyway? The plated chainmail was said to have come the late period of Goryeo; is it scaled armor?

Yoo Dong Geun is one of my favorite actors. I've yet to see him in a role in which I thought he was miscast. Speaking of Tears of the Dragon, to this day, it remains my favorite historical drama.

The plated chainmail was said to have come the late period of Goryeo; is it scaled armor? Why is a woman in this kind of drama? Korean historicals can't do without a love story these days. That's why Yeo Hwa character was created for Geunchogo, Gwanggaeto also has like 3 lovers, and MBC Gyebaek has a triangular love story as well. Yi Hwan Kyung's latest drama Yeon Gae So Moon is what makes me dislike him. article.joinsmsn.com/news/article/article.asp?total_id=4768626&ctg=1702The picture on the link above was probably the armor used before the plated chainmail armor, but I'm guessing that MBC will just re-use fantasy armors from Jumong and QSD. I wasn't saying that Yoo Dong Geun was a mistcast. He and Choi Su Jong are the best actors when it comes to historicals. I was just stating who I think might get casted. Yoo Dong Geun, Ahn Jae Mo, and Yi Sae Eun get casted in almost every Yi Hwan Kyung drama. I have a problem with Yi's writing though. I'm not too sure about Yoo Dong Geun, but I'm 90% sure that Ahn Jae Mo will be casted. Ahn and Yi are so close to each other that Yi officiated Ahn's wedding. Ahn also joined YGSM as Yeon Namseng right after he finished his mandatory army duties.

Never did I say that I thought you said Yoo Dong Geun was miscast. Speaking of him, as Knov said, he is a great actor. The best stuff about him, when he's nice, he gives that aura of a person you'd like to hang around. But when this guy gets angry, he's scary.
By the way Gracien, the channel where I'm watching the rerun is on a channel called CNTV. I'm not sure if American TV has that as I'm currently in Korea right now. I seem to be watching the middle of the show, as Bangwon is king and Yi Seonggye just shot a messenger Bangwon sent to him.

Sorry I should've mentioned that I was talking to Knov1 when I was saying that I don't think Yoo Dong Geun would be a miscast.

My post wasn't implying anything about what might have been said in another post . I just saw that Yoo Dong Geun and Tears of the Dragon were mentioned so I wanted to comment on him as an actor and the drama.

It looks like Kim Choon Chu will be directed by the Shin Chang Seok(the director of IE/AOW) and written by Yoo Dong Yoon(the writer of AOW).

I think the quality of King Taejong Muyeol(a.k.a Kim Choon Chu) is going to be superb. This drama isn't set to start until next spring, or even next fall if Gwanngaeto gets extended, but KBS is already getting ready for this drama. This is very early compared to Gwanggaeto. They started getting ready for Gwanggaeto in February. The title logo for this drama has been made already. cafe.daum.net/cafe.daum219.net/MnoV/5?docid=1OEAwKing Taejong Muyeol will cover all the way from his childhood days(King Jin Pyeong's reign) to the end of his son King Moonmu(Kim Pupmin)'s reign. List of Silla Monarchs in KTM(King Taejong Muyeol) : King Jin Heung(possibly), King Jinji(possibly), King Jin Pyeong, Queen Seondeok, Queen Jindeok, King Taejong Muyeol(protagonist), King Moonmu(2nd protagonist) I hope to see more historical Seondeok instead of QSD's fantasy Seondeok. I think the drama will also cover Baekjae Restorement Movement and re-cover Goguryeo Restorement Movement(previously covered in DJY). Both the director and screenwriter of AOW are in charge of this drama and they are alredy getting ready for this thing, so this might actually be a good one. Some Koreans are saying that its part of government's conspiracy to make Silla appear superior over Goguryeo and Baekjae. King Geunchogo was more like Queen Yeohwa's Love Affair story and many battles were replaced with narration. Gwanggaeto's quality is pretty bad as well. But they are getting ready for Silla drama almost year in advance. No wonder there are suspicions about conspiracy. Current president Lee Myung Bak descends from a Silla aristocrat family. (Not that I agree with the conspiracy theory) If they are already getting ready, I think we might be able to see legitimate clothes and armors instead of Gwanggaeto's fantasy armors(hopefully)

Triptaka Korean? Wasn't expecting that to be the title, but then again, some titles were menat to be symbolic, considering it was printed as a prayer for the mongol invasions to stop
