Oh my oh my, that looks like a good essay, bird. Thanks so much. Bo PS - at the end of the list is a "downloadable booklet" (PDF) which apparently contains all the same info. It also has some photos of historical objects and places, along with that nice "red portrait" of the King in the front. I don't know why it's 112 pages long, but they do seem to have a lot of extraneous space included. At least it has the whole thing in one place and if you "save" a copy to your computer, you'll have it later if the site happens to be taken down. PPS - The home page for this site it difficult to navigate to from the King Sejong essay page, so I am posting it here: Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion ProjectLooks like they might have a pamphlet for General Yi, must investigate...

......Queen Wongyeong is played by Choi Myeong-gil, who also starred in the 2002 drama Empress Myeong-seong (which I have been longing to see and is not available). Here's her dramawiki profile: wiki.d-addicts.com/Choi_Myung_GilIn case you wanted to know. (I looked it up because I mistook her for Kim Mi-sook.) Bo Kim Mi-Sook is the actress who plays Ganghui - Ms. Lee - in A Good Day for the Wind to Blow which we are now watching, almost finished, on WMBC in the NY/NJ area. Interesting, I didn't see a resemblance to the actress portraying the Queen but now that you mention it I do. Very interesting info on King Sejong and Korean culture, thanks Bird and Bo....for the links.

Yes, maranyc, I am watching her (Kim Mi-sook) right now in Shining Inheritance (Brilliant Legacy). She's really good--scary scary (please use cheesy old-style vampire accent when reading "scary scary").

maranyc, what is your opinion of "Good Wind"--I don't want spoilers or anything, I just wonder if it's worth trying to get ahold of. Yes, I like Kim Mi-sook that much. LOL.

TheBo, sorry for the delay - was out of town and am just getting back to this board to read the Great King Sejong summaries for the episodes I recorded....
Anyway, Good Wind, I wouldn't go out of my way for it....it's one of those dramas that is just dragging on and on - whatever the original number of episodes planned was increased to 173. I'm not familiar with Kim Mi-sook other than this drama but she doesn't have a huge part but she comes and goes. Why don't you watch it online first and see if you get into it?

Wow, it does seem to be long. Thanks for your opinion--I'll look for it. Well, as soon as I watch the 25 OTHER dramas I have waiting for my attention. (Since you are so tepid about it. LOL.)

getting back to "The Great King Sejong" (LOL)...i am still enjoying the show very much.
i would like a little more action, however.
the crown prince reminds me of someone, i have no idea who. not even sure if it is because i have seen him in something else.
there are several actors in this who have been in various other historical dramas and i like seeing these familiar faces. most recent to show up is the garrison commander who just got booted out....if memory serves he was a Khitan somewhere along the way.

Yes, and one of the Jurchens looks very familiar - possibly from Dae Jo Young or Iron Empress.....

thanks JoJo, but i never saw that show. guess he just strikes me in some way. i also wish they would spend more time on our future king, he grows on me each show. but there is something intriguing about the current crown prince.
we saw episodes 36 and 37 this past weekend. i thought the future king sejong was so handsome when he was on the path confronting the crown prince (yes i know that has nothing to do with the story). he is beginning to look like a leader, he has that air about him, which adds to his allure.
and who didn't see that suri was going fall for the CP? that was predictable.
the king really needs to let go of his insistence of the CP being a good king....and obviously SOMETHING happens in that regard.
i am so sorry that minister Hwang has thrown his lot in with the CP. as much as i detested this actor, or rather his role, in AOW...that is how much i like him in this, at least until now. but you have to admire his loyalty.

I think Kim Gap Soo is a great actor. I too detested the character of Choi Choogn-han, but loved to watch how Kim portrayed him. Liked Kim as Hwang Hee too.
