hi Ginnycat5, it is Monday 4th Jan, I'm Jolson1933 (I never know if the system shows who is answering. Just wanted to say thanks for your response to my lengthly ranting . I agree with you that our "addiction" may weaken with time off but keep the faith. It will be some time when I return to Chicago (as I am with my family here in Germany/Netherlands -however,as soon as I get back it is on my agenda to bug both WOCH41 -KBC-KBS and all the other initials in the universe to GET BACK OUR K-DRAMA'S. I am also going to E-MAIL and FAX the CORPORATE KBS and rant at them...although some of you addicts say it is not WOCH41 fault, I was told that the MAIN REASON FOR THE CANCELLATION WAS THE RAISE OF THE FEE FOR THESE DRAMA''s, therefore I feel that the OWNER of WOCH41 has to take some of the blame...I understand in these economic difficult times money is an issue, but I have it from a good source that the Owner of WOCH41 is able to afford the new rates-but then I am not his banker and only repeating what I have been told by a Korean gentlemen who seems to know a lot about the owner. I also have close family in Thousand Oaks, California and will ask them to hike over to KBS California and perhaps get a story from them if they know anything at all about the Chicago withdrawal. I enjoy your comments Ginnycat5 and will check your responses and post when I have the time. By the way, my dearest friend is Hawaiian-we used to live in the same apartment building for about 25 years and she returned to Hawaii when her husband passed away about 5 years ago and she keeps me posted -in the OLD FASHIONED WAY by LETTER as to what is happening in the Drama's-she is watching all the ones we are addicted to. Thats it for now hope you had a nice New Year -it is 9pm here and 2pm in the afternoon for you 4th Jan.2010.

The problem with the network/program producers' doubling their fees is that station owners will have to raise their rates for advertising, and small businesses are having trouble paying bills now, I think. At least, after last Fall's financial collapse, that was a problem. Banks wouldn't lend money to small businesses because they got scared they wouldn't be paid back, even though the businesses had been regular borrowers. I don't know if the situation has improved by now, though. IMO, the station owner has to do what makes business sense, and he still has to pay the electric bill and insurance, etc., at the station, but there isn't any money coming in. I don't really know anything, but I would feel bad scolding the local station, because they're not having any fun with this, nor making any money, I don't think. Yes, good, it would be interesting to hear what the California people know about this change. Edited to add: I wonder if the owners of American stations can get dramas from other Korean networks at a better price? Or have they all raised their rates? It's so discouraging.

Ginny, I think I read where KBS had TRIPLED the cost of their programming to small local channels such as WOCH. At least two other channels had been abandoned in this manner. The corporate greed that sent the US into a depression, was world-wide and affected other countries as well as ours. And yet the corporate mind-set hasn't seemed to get it . .they are so money-obsessed that they cannot see what damage their greed has/is causing. Perhaps they don't even care . .so long as THEIR profit is intact. I agree with you Ginny, that WOCH probably is not to blame for this matter and is just not able to pay such an outrageous amount of money to obtain KBS's offerings. I think if it had only doubled instead of tripled, perhaps they could have had a deal . . but - 3x increase is just too much. I wish WOCH success in finding other programming besides what they have right now as all of us agree that after watching it one day, you can rest assured that you've seen all the documentaries, travel shows and other insipid offerings that one can handle without wanting to throw the TV out the window . . If only wishing could make it so . . as Walt Disney once told us in a song . .

Re:WOCH Ch41 Big Problem
Hello Soapygrams, Just saw your post of Jan.5th. I agree as far as your comments and also hope that WOCH will be able to resolve this program problem SOON. For those of us who have no other way of seeing any of the drama'"s it is really frustrating. What upsets me the most is that it seems(I do not know this to be fact) but it seems that GREED as you stated in your post is a bigger issue than "We the People" I suppose we are not that important to KBS/KBC/WOCH since we are not complaining about someone with a major illness nor the downfall of the economy but only about a few hours a day watching a DRAMA - I know for a fact that there are FANS among us that are elderly and this is their only source of enjoyment-especially we none oriental/Korean people. who have gotten to really appreciate these drama's, beginning to know the actors, choosing our favorites (for me it;s of course the wonderful talented Choi Soo Jong. as well as some others that little by little we begin to include in or daily "Dream Life" to soften the things in our lives that may be sad, difficult or perhaps fill a void. So I do agree Soapygrams if I were at home in Chicago now I also would be ready to throw the TV out the window, but I am happy to say I am with mt family in Germany/but at this moment am in Netherlands and it is 11:45 pm Thursday nite(4:45 in the afternoon for you in Cicago/or suburbs.) Thanks for the reply and comments to my novice posts compared to yours-I do enjoy reading everyone's comments,

MHz Channel 20.3 has added 2 Korean dramas to their Thursday night schedule. Just started January 7. They are Alone in Love and Someday. They start at 8PM ET and repeat at Midnight ET.
Still wish WOCH was still doing all of the great dramas they were doing, but this is at least something to watch.
Note dramas start on time and there are no commercial interruptions.
