Hello Dr. Inferno;
You can call me Neko. It is my nickname so I don't mind at all. Chocoboru is the name of a Japanese candy that I used to love eating.
Regarding the WOCH and KBS debacle - I don't know what to think right now. Either WOCH or KBS or both do not give a crap about the potential loyal fan base in Illinois...
About the dvd player - mine broke a year ago and I haven't had the time or resources to buy another one. Sad, I know...
I, and everyone else, appreciates your efforts to try and rectify this KBS - WOCH mess.
I'll keep trying to push things on my end and I hope that everyone else keeps their fightin' spirit alive as well!

Neko, it is no problem I want them back, just hope I ain't the only one that is harrassin these people (I've seen a few people, but the more the better I blieve). And i would go with both of them not givin a crap bout their viewers... I know i say kbs issues popped up after woch went down so.. but still it takes both to cause this issue to b as bad as to have to show airarang tv....
Ahhh sorry I didn't know that was Japanese candy what is it like?
That has to suck.... well that leaves out the idea of hookin up comp to tv... (if you had a laptop...)

Dr. Inferno and everyone else;
I have sent numerous emails to that employee at WOCH and I've tried calling.
Nothing yet. It is very discouraging and disappointing when there is no response...
Dr. Inferno: Chocoboru is basically a roasted peanut covered in a crispy/crunchy coating, and the entire thing is coated with milk chocolate. The Chocoboru character is quite cute too (it is on the label).

Hello everyone;
The employee at WOCH got back to me and told me the following:
1. WOCH could not continue their contract with KBS-TV because KBS-TV raised the prices on their services and were not interested in negotiating any deal.
2. WOCH TV is trying to find an alternative way of airing all of our favorite shows again.
3. They do not want to lose viewer loyalty.
I think that with continued pressure from us (i.e. we will NO LONGER BE YOUR LOYAL VIEWERS!) via: phone calls, emails, and visits to the studio - it may burn a fire under their butts to do something NOW!
Please help???
Neko

Just be sure to keep that pressure friendly and supportive. We all know that they operate with limited resources, and yet have given us some of the best selection of Korean shows of any U.S. market.
Yeah, we're all frustrated, but remember, they're not in a very good position right now. Don't bite the hand that fed you!

Neko, thanks so much for staying on top of this and letting us know about this. So now we know--KBS is squeezing its customers for more revenue. And during a recession! No wonder the New York and northern California stations lost their KBS stuff too. That doesn't sound good for any of the other stations like Philadelphia or L.A. either. Incredible.
Now I think the next step is going to be for us to try to find some appropriate person in the KBS bureaucracy to contact. As in, contacted by every single person who watches K-dramas and is unhappy about all this. If this pricing business is a KBS America strategy, then maybe we need to go over their heads to KBS World, and if it's a KBS World strategy, then maybe KBS headquarters in Korea is the place to contact. Somebody who ranks higher up than the level where the stupidity came from and who can exert some influence to fix all this.
I'm sure WOCH is doing everything they can to get some good replacement shows, so we should be patient with them. These kinds of business agreements take time to negotiate (and aren't done in public, so we won't know what's going on). We could be stuck with Arirang for a while, but hopefully the station will come up with something good.

Channel 41 can't be making any money now, unless they have local advertisers. (I don't watch Arirang so I don't know what they're doing.) I don't think the local tv station is the problem. They own the equipment and have employees and taxes.... I'm pretty sure they want to be on the air with desirable programming and local advertising. So impatient as I feel about the lack of programming, I don't want to bug the local channel.
I think ajk is right, about finding the right place to nudge or pressure. I have no idea how to find it, though. Through KBSworld website? whenever they start a section in English, anyway.

Arirang?....I have been away from the board for so long....I don't know the scoop on what happen to Ch. 41 Woch....okay i just read post number 36...this just sucks....with chicago having a very large korean community one would think that they would want to keep a successful format going....instead we get a travel / business sales format on how great Busan is for business...
