According to Han Cinema ,Empress Cheon Chu and Ja Myung Go both are tanking big time in the ratings ,right now Empress is below Sejong's lowest ratings . The main reason given is middle aged men the biggest target are not watching this . Also a recent survey conducted showed people were really unhappy with the historical fudging .
Also women are not watching this drama either ,after a great start it seems to have tanked .
I also noticed its still listed at 60 episodes so it looks like this will not be extended at all .

Well, well, well. So they cut GKS short and now IE isn't even doing as well as GKS. Un-freaking-believable. I'm not surprised about the demographics--IE is a tougher sell to the historical dramas' core audience than other series would be--but I'm very surprised and very happy to hear about the reaction to the historical fudging. VERY good news; maybe it will get the message across to the decision-makers.
But I still think part of the problem is just plain overload of historical dramas. The novelty isn't there any more, and so many of them have aired, it's going to be tougher to get big ratings than in the past. Especially with competition from DVDs of past series.

I hope I’m not too much of a downer on this, but I’ve been more-or-less enjoying IE (though more as an action-adventure kind of drama, rather than any kind of historical lesson). However, with the current run of episodes in my area (#29-30) I think IE has taken a turn for the worse, getting away from a fictional (but at least plausible) storyline into something that’s way too much into the silly DJY kind of nonsense that ultimately turned me completely off DJY. I won’t give any details here, since I don't want to spoil anything. Maybe you will or won’t agree with me. Surprisingly, the SBS show “Princess Ja Myung” is actually growing on me. I’m up to episode #14, and after we got past the first four episodes (which I found barely watchable, given that I’d already seen the Cliff’s Notes version in the introductory show) it’s become an interesting storyline, with some great characters. It’s all fiction, of course - but so long as one remembers that it’s a “fusion” drama, it’s not so bad. The actress playing Mu-hyul's queen (who also appeared as the evil princess in "Yi San") is a real standout here. She's evil here, too - but having been abandoned by her tribe, her father, and her husband the king, you can't help but feel bad for her. I hear that “Queen Sundeok” is expected to begin in a few weeks on MBC, No word if it’s going to be English subbed (MBC is disappointingly inconsistent about this) but I do hope so. I’ve got high hopes for “Queen Sundeok.” ****Edited my "Queen Sundeok" comments to correct for a moment of brain fade - no, that MBC historical drama is NOT going to follow right after a SBS drama. Sheesh . . .

You know we just finished 30/31 and the silly stuff is getting way out of hand but its also hysterical in parts . As such i watching this as a campy comedy because its the best way to deal with it , Sadly its also getting way to close in content to DJY only not as good .
KBS though have to learn that you just cant remake a hit series like DJY it may work once but to go the same route so soon is not a good thing . BTW the Khitans look more like Huns and various Nordic Warriors than the real Khitan's who were close kin to the Mongols and were nomadic horse back riders . Myung Go is sounding the better of the two dramas and i love that actress from Yi San (Plot to discredit ,plot to kill and so forth )i bet she would make JMG worth watching just for her character . Fun but sooooo Cheesy is the best way to describe IC.
