Yes, I agree with you about all that, Knov1, and I protested implementation of these bills and still do. China and Russia are big problems, and so is in-house piracy. However, the President has called for the online community to suggest some ways to battle piracy that do not go the way of SOPA/PIPA, and all I've seen so far is a bunch of whining. Like, if you've got a better idea, please put it forth. I hear ya. Maybe we should start a "latest movie you've seen" type of thread. Or we could just use this one.

Last (Asian) movie I saw was...er... Oh, yeah. Welcome Home, Mr. McDonald. LOL.
Last English-speaking movie--The Grass is Greener. Last cheesy movie--Charlie Chan in Shanghai.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - I knew little about it going in. A bit long and violent but I'd still recommend it.

Not to be a snob but i hate Hollywood Remakes of films from other countries .
In this case i have heard this is good but nothing different to the original Swedish Film but i am still going to check this out because i like Fincher and its at least bigger budget than the original one .
Also there is the Swedish TV Series which runs at six 90 minute Films and has the same cast and director as the orig Swedish Trilogy ,anyway this was online and subbed but never got to see it as camp Fincher had it yanked .So the Mini Series is meant to be not only the most faithful to the books but has tons of stuff not in any of the films .

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a really exciting read. Holy cow! I was up until 1am one night, then tried to be reasonable about a night's sleep so I didn't read it the next night. But the following night, 3am!! Finally I had to stop, with about 80 pages left. whew! I'm almost afraid to start the second book. I need some sleep first.

DYC, I don't care if they remake them with Americans--American actors need to work too LOL--but I DO hate when you can't even get to see the original which is usually much better.

Yes the swedish version was released here about 2 years back as well as the two sequels Girl Who Played With Fire and Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest all are on Netflix and well worth seeing .
It is the Swedish Mini Series that came after the films ,also has the same cast as the films but they comprise 6 ninety minute episodes full of stuff missing from the films and very faithful to the books that we cannot see as the US Film company think its Universal are blocking its release in this country

The Swedish films are in also in a box set known as the Millennium Trilogy . The second film Girl Who Played With Fire is the best of the three .
And the TV Series they will not let us see is known as Millennium .

I thought The Girl with the draggon tattoo was faithful to the series until the last part where they changed a few things but it was still good. A bit dense if you are going in without reading the book. I haven't watched the swedish films but I read the book. They are very addictive and the second book is my favorite.
My last film to watch was the Korean movie The Unjust and I don't think I have ever been confused by a movie. Maybe it was the editing, too many characters or putting too much stuff in a movie but I guess I got the gist of it.
I also watched the Client which was underwhelming but I guess ok.
I watched War of Arrows and it was aawesome! Blind is another movie I would also recommend.

I just saw 13 Assassins. The premise is as simple as it sounds (assassinate a cruel lord) but it was a fun ride.

Wow, I'm actually behind movies as it is (eyes buried in games). I have no idea what's good to watch nowadays even though I've read reviews of some of the titles mentioned in the thread. Would be interesting to get pointers here. ;D
