Thanks, jojo and tinkerbell, I thought that Khitan warrior was Wolf from DJY but didn't get around to checking it out....he seems to like his different hairstyles.....
I guess you are a bit behind WMBC in the NYC area - we had Ep. 73 Sunday....

I can't say for sure . . . but on KBS America and TAN, IE was followed up by a contemporary drama, "Hot Blood." It's about young, aggressive hotshot salespeople trying to make a multimillion dollar truck sale. It seemed kind of youth-oriented, and not to my taste, and I quit watching it after just two episodes. The historical we were expecting ("Taming of the Heir," a.k.a. "Ondal the Fool") arrived a few weeks later. It turned out to be a contemporary spin on a historical story. It's kind of silly and ridiculous, and I'm not watching very carefully. So, what will be the next REAL historical? Well, I don't know - but don't expect anything to show up in the near future.

KBS Have three Historicals all airing back to back REPUTABLE FAMILY Is the first ,it runs 16 episode's and is a about a mid Joseon Dynasty Family that feeds the poor . That's followed by a similar 20 Episode Drama (name escapes me )about a rich female merchant in late Joseon who gives all her money away . LIGHT OF THE EAST is the final of the trilogy and runs 70 episodes ,its WW2 Drama about some Korean Guy who went to China to fight the Japanese . This will be followed by a Korean War Drama . Well Empress is starting to look good after all these offerings that will take us well into 2011 . As far as 3 Kingdoms /Goryeo Dramas thats pretty much a DOA Topic at this point . One ray of light is CHUNO that will follow IRIS and looks like it will be as big as IRIS even getting a second season .

I really liked episodes 73, and 74, there were battles, with catapults, and all the stuff. I don't know much about episode 75, if it was aired right, because they didn't say about the test that the littler prince has to got throught. i was reading ajk summary, and he is really good describing each episode, I love his comments, they make me laugh.

I agree with you, latina, about ajk. His summaries have made this series so much more meaningful to me. Since I watch IE on WMBC in the NYC area where at least one quarter of it is edited out, I get quite a bit out of his summaries. Even though I have pretty well managed to find all the episodes online - the translations leave a lot to be desired sometimes....
I don't believe the tests for the Prince have yet been mentioned....

Episode 71 was a groaner starting with Gang Jo’s absurd plot to bring Cheonchu back to the throne. How many times did she tell him ‘NO’ I’m sure he knows what 'NO' means, right?!? I found it extremely hard to believe that Mokjong, Cheonchu and company would head out into The Wild without provisions, without an invitation to live somewhere and especially without an escort. Their treatment by the local lord seemed out of place; could he really get away with treating royalty like that? When the two generals show up to kill Mokjong and they say Gang Jo sent them, was that the writer’s nod to acknowledge history? All of the plotting by the former Queen Munhwa and cronies seemed like the same ol’ same ol. The entire episode seemed one long drone, except for the Khitans. Thank goodness they’re going to attack and end these ridiculous plot lines.

I didn't want Gang jo to die like this, I felt sad, and I couldn't hold my laugh see the the bear walking in the cave. Last night episode, I can undestand attendant Yu to wanted to surrender to the Khitans, and I think there is a lot to be unfold after last episode to be told on just episode 78.

I wish the series had ended shortly after Cheonchu killed Kim Chiyang, after she and Mokjong left the palace and walked into the countryside. Instead I’m now hooked on events after Cheonchu: the Khitan invasion (and subsequent death of Gang Jo), the new king, the power struggles with the ministers. Looks like a good time in history to have a brand new series.

I ageed with you jojo, I would like to know more about what happens during the new king regimes. this is the first historical drama that I watch, I would like to know if the previos historical were about previos Dynasties in order, so we can expect that the next drama will take us after the year 1100 AC. By the way if somebody can tell me the name of the previos historical drama aied by KBC, I'll appreciate

latina, if you go to the "historical drama timeline" thread near the top of the IE board, one of our members put together an excellent graphic that shows the chronological sequence of many of the historical dramas by KBS and the other networks. It's a very nice piece of work and will show you what you want to know.
The historical that aired before IE was The Great King Sejong. (That one was absolutely top-notch.) Before Sejong was Dae Joyoung; before DJY was The Immortal Yi Soon-Shin; and before IYSS was The Age of Warriors.
And thanks for the nice comment about the summaries. I try hard not to put too many of my own comments into them, but when there's a real clunker of a scene or there's some obvious mistake, well, can't let that go by. That's the one good thing about these series that aren't as strong as the others--we all get to make fun of the bad parts!

Three more episodes to go in Philadelphia area. I haven't watched 75 yet. The biggest impression I had with 74 was the former Queen Munhwa dragging her daughter the Empress in front of the Emporer and Demanding that he spend time in her bed chamber! How incredibly awkward for the Empress!

Hopefully you remember ole Wangdangman -- I joined up during Great King Sejong but Comcast scrambled the signals towards the end and my wife and I didn't see a need to get a converter.
Weelllll -- more signals got scrambled and all of them WILL be soon, so when our old TV died, we bought a new one, got the digital box and DVR combo and HERE I AM!
Needless to say, judging from what I saw last Sunday, and again yesterday and today (1/30 and 31), I'm getting in on the tail end of Iron Empress. I did a little research and discovered that in real life, she was Wang Gun's granddaughter -- so that enabled me to place this series in the overall Korea time line.
I see some familiar faces from Wang Gun and Dae Jo Yeong, and I must say I have been very much "into" the shows because this series apparently had a whole lot of flaming arrows and sword fights and all that good action stuff that attracted me to Wang Gun in the first place. That (and the same star) was why Dae Jo Yeong was also fun to watch, and why Great King Sejong (for me) sucked swamp water (it had precious little action).
Don't get me wrong -- I'm not a violent man -- but the fightin and feudin combined with the sometimes humorous subtitles (when something in Korean doesn't translate well to English) frequently give the series a cartoonish quality.
So, I wanted to drop you this note -- hopefully whatever comes next will be in the historical vein -- maybe we can lobby channel 35 to run either Wang Gun or Dae Jo Yeong again -- I vote for DJY because I came into that one about halfway through while, the second time around, I saw all of WG).
It's good to be back!
