I really like Gang Jo's character so I was disappointed when he told CheonChu he was "ready" to marry Hyangbi. So unromantic. Then he looks longingly at the IE in the middle of his wedding ceremony! I was glad Hyangbi had her eyes downcast. But all was redeemed in the honeymoon scene.Very nicely done.
But now to the Emperor and the little snit, Wonsoon's plant (can't think of her name). He feels like a man for the first time! He's what, thirty? Hasn't he been getting it on with his oily assistant with the "face of a girl"? Or was that all platonic? And poor Dokyun. She's ready to die in battle but can't take a little morning sickness. Lastly, IE and Chiyang. I guess his bad side won out and she's starting to suspect him. I hope. She hasn't been known for good judgement.
The relationships in this drama are very realistic weather in love or diplomacy. Can't wait to see who demolishes who (whom?) between IE and the Liaotian Emmisary, Jolly Empress' man with the do.

In last night's episode, it was revealed that the Emperor's consort has been having an affair with the man everyone think is her brother in order to conceive the heir to the throne. But what I don't understand is that it was also revealed that the Emperor was away to console the people who were affected by an earthquake. How could the consort think she can decieve everyone that it is the emperor's child, if he is away for an extensive period of time ??

Yup, that was a question we all had when we watched it earlier. As I recall, our best guess was that the emperor must have been going back-and-forth between the palace and the earthquake zone every month or two.
Otherwise, that scheme doesn’t make any sense at all.

When the minister in the plot asked the consort chick why she is not pregnant, she even says I cant get pregnant by myself. If the Emperor and the IE cant figure out the preg time line, I guess their concept of conception (pardon the pun) is a bit off.

I don't think he was away from his palace for extensive period. Korean peninsula isn't that big.

a little piece of info on episode 56: One of Prince Daeryang’s bodyguards in the temple looked very familiar. Checking ajk’s syposis, simisteve commented that the actor played Gim Jongsuh in The Great King Sejong. I think the actor’s name is Lee Byung Wook, though I’m not 100% on this.

I was really surprised that the Emperor killed his consort. Not even the main characters who are warriors usually kill their enemies -- they just do that sward to the neck thing and back off.

How can IE still trust that worm Chiyang? The woman has made so many bad calls it's hard to believe she's still on the throne.
I knew the murder of his consort was going to haunt the emperor. Poor, tragic figure.

door60, I agree with you 100 percent. Shocked the heck out of me. Maybe the only time I've used capital letters in an episode summary, it caught me so off guard. He's so not the type to do it. But it did seem plausible; it showed the depth of the wound she inflicted on him.

ajk, it was definately a great moment, and believable, and of course very shocking.

The IE is something else; she falls for Kim's excuses everytime and I just can't see how she got to trust him so much. I mean, I saw how it was supposedly developed but it just doesn't make sense, I guess.
When the Emperor said not to take the consortl out to be executed, I had a hunch he would do it himself right then and there. This show had the potential to be so much better.

Big problem with last night's airing in Philadelphia. The station did a hop, skip and a jump from Ep 59 to 66! Eek!

Don't panic just yet, jojo; they may have just mixed up their videotapes. It happened here in Chicago during Dae Joyoung and again during Great King Sejong. You may get #60 next and they'll just go from #65 to #67.
Although...not to be the voice of doom, but with a skip of that size, they could be rushing to get to the end because of an expiring contract. I sure hope not, but unfortunately you have to think that what happened in Chicago, NY and California could happen to you too. Hope not.

So far I’m holding off on watching the rest of Ep 66 to see what episode is shown this weekend, but there were some major spoilers in the first few minutes!! I was hoping KBS debacle wouldn’t happen in Philadelphia because wybe (aka MindTV) is a public station, but if the contract runs out that may be the end. With the financial crisis they might not be able to afford a new contract. ajk: Your summaries are great!! I read them even though I'm so far behind you guys in Chicago.
