I have had it with these stupid girls who fight for 6 months to marry the man they love and then proceed to move in with the in laws who hate them. I cannot believe that young educated girls in 2009 move in with their in laws and become" indentured slaves". With the economy the way it is and most women working , is this really how it is in Seoul??? Maybe that is why there are so many Korean families that have moved into my community on LI in the past 10 years.

It was the same with You Are My Destiny, dodger. Saybeok's MIL locked her out of the house in the freezing cold, slapped her, made her shred hundreds of cabbages for kimchi, the list goes on and gets worse. But the girl moved in with her anyway, gave up bone marrow for her, even said she loved her!? Maybe masochism is a virtue in Korea.
Lady Doc is acting like a spoiled kid but everybody from grandpa on down says," We gotta be nice to the poor thing. She's suffering." It's like they UNDERSTAND her so it must be a common thing, MILs expecting support no matter how bad they act. I don't get how everybody sees Suin's marriage to Hyeonsu as the problem when it's really HER!

I agree with you, puppy - however, in YAMD, Saybeok was the poor girl with parentage issues - is that a good way to say it - whereas Suin comes from a rich, successful family - her only issue seems to be she was married once already.....right? Plus her parentage issues. ;-) I dunno - I guess this kind of stuff is what keeps us watching - it is so foreign, to me at least....
It's almost over.......

Are you saying next Wed is the end, brooklyn? Only three more epis to go?
I guess Suin's MIL is melting as we knew she would, and last nite she forgave Jisu. But what does Hiro have in mind? He spoke to his mom in Japan and seemed to come to a decision. I don't think, given the slooow pace of this series, that there's enough time to reslove Jisu and Hiro to marriage. I bet they agree to wait and be friends for the time being. Maybe there'll be a one-year break. We'll see Juho and Shinae will be at college and Hiro and Jisu will meet again and start dating. Cue music, roll credits, fade to an infomercial.

Yes, puppy, woo! lol
Don't forget a family picture and a pregnancy or 2 crammed in there somewhere. Then we'll go through this all over again with the next drama; when you're addicted, you're addicted lol.

Just saw the last episode - I thought it wrapped everything up quite nicely....must say I shed a tear or two when Jisu and her mom met at the grave site.....
I never remember seeing that at the very end when the cast thanked the audience.....
I wonder what all the Korean writing at the end was....
On to the next one....

Mara, I caught that scene too and broke down a little. I'd given this drama a mini break inbetween but thought to watch the ending, no family portrait but it's over with.

The last few weeks were a little repetitious and I skipped a lot of episodes, but on the whole, I enjoyed this drama. I do not, do not, DO NOT want to get involved with Merry Widows, Jolly Wives, Cha Cha Cha, whatever. Already I see the spoiled girl who's going to harass the nice young guy until they fall in love, the dad with the bad rug who's the stand-in for the evil MIL, the zany office crew, the "mystery" element about the missing husband who may or may not be dead. I do not want to watch and tie up an hour every weekday nite. But I will.

WELCOME, FELLOW ADDICT, you're in good company - You just can't beat mindless intertainment. My dinnertime would be so utterly ruined if I couldn't watch my playful Korean pals mess up their lives, then make it all better. So puppy think of that one hour a day as a free therapy session. Can you imagine how costly it would be to see a therapist every day? While your 'therapy' session is going on, you can't help but feel better about yourself when you see how goofy our pals behave. Free therapy is always a good thing.
