Well,it's over.I really enjoyed this series.I really loved the music as well.I bought the soundtrack a couple of months ago,but all of the series' tracks were not on it.It is still very good though.I hope another historical epic is coming up next. There weren't any previews after this last show.Anyone know what is coming on Tuesday night?

I thought that this was an outstanding program---I loved all of the characters and found the King to be "Great" indeed. The development of the written language was of great interest to me and the King's persistence was HEROIC. Sejong is a True hero. What an inspiration!

Indeed, THIS historical drama ended so nicely.I enjoyed this on so many levels ... the ending bordered on elegance. Cute kids.
Does anyone know what might be next?

A truly wonderful series... even though there were a 'couple' things I could've done without, it was overall a great story, and as BG said, truly inspiring. I'm SO glad Youngsil lived to be in the last episode *squee*! He was my favorite character and it was really beautiful how, when the little girl asked 'who that nice old man' was, he responding with saying that he was the most humble man, and that heaven and earth belonged to him. What great lines! I'm going to miss this series.

I wish it had not been downsized from 100 episodes . I wish Yi Sun had been more prominent as in real life . I wish it had gone to Sejo's coup . I wish the creation of court music had been depicted . Still i think it may be the (i have to think on that one ) best K Historical Drama i have seen . I was sad many DJY fans would not give this the time of day . It was waaayyy better than the overated Yi San and King And I ,Those being Sejong's competition

I am a huge Dae Joyoung fan. That was the show that got me reeled in to the Korean drama world.I believe Sejong was on the same level of greatness as DJY.I also am surprised alot of DJY fans didn't catch on to this show.

Will there be a "Making of..." show tonight? I hope so! Did they ever show one? Because if they did I certainly didn't see it! I figured that since they had decided to 'spoil' us with that big preview show (before the series started) where Youngsil escorted us around showing us the costumes, etc, I didn't think they'd bother giving us anything eles.

I would agree with the comments above. The ending was touching and typified the man. But I too would have liked to see a follow-on series, going thru to Sejo at least.
The only other gripe I can think of is the sudden disappearnce of characters, which was necessitated by the time jumps in the series. For instance, Huh Jo: I found him to be a very interesting character, totally driven by his morals. But he disappeared at some point (I've forgotten when) and I wish I knew what happened to him.

I'm really sorry The Great King Sejong is over, and at only 85 episodes instead of the full 100 we'd been told to expect at the beginning.
The actors, the production values, the overall quality was excellent. The main area where they could have done better was the music. That there were only a set number of musical "backgrounds" was bad enough. Life itself is not predictable, nor is good acting. Neither should the music be which accompanies it. When the music is (predictable), that is as childish as thinking all happy people wear red sweaters, since anytime there is a "happy" scene, everyone in it is wearing red sweaters. Every time there was a dramatic climax, there was ALWAYS the same music. BO-RING. It took away from the drama, for some of us.
But the worst, musically, was having new-sounding "pop" singing--I'm sorry, but that was TOTALLY anachronistic. IT. DID. NOT. BELONG. Not in an historical drama. This wasn't one of those "slice-of-modern-day-Korean-life" dramas, where it would have.
Still, those complaints having been expressed now, I still loved this series. I loved so many characters; they were so very well depicted by the actors who portrayed them. Obviously, Sejong was outstanding. But I also loved Hwang Hee, Yun Hwe, Tejong, the Queen, even Jo Malseng (at the end, I was glad Sejong had kept him and his wilyness!).
A fine, FINE series. I am so sorry it's run its course. It's been great fun, and edifying, to share it with all of you. Blessings, and a Happy New Year, to all!

I'm glad everyone else enjoyed it. I couldn't take the pace, and those dog ear hats that made everyone look "Goofy" annoyed me to no end. I guess my attention span isn't as developed as the rest of you. Too much talk put me to sleep too often.
I tried to keep up with ajk's excellent summaries, but even that wasn't enough to keep my interest after a while. I don't speak for any other DJY fans, that's just my reaction.
I think "Empress Cheonchu" might be next. Looking forward to seeing Lady Jami in her new role.

this is the best historical series for me, thus far. The cinematography, the costumes, the acting and the storyline was wonderful.
The show has managed to bring through the brilliance of the king in resolving the various problems with Ming China, Tsushima and the Jurchens as well as when dealing with his troublesome ministers.
You would have thought that since they knew that their monarch was in ill health, they would be a little bit more supportive. After all, any one could see that he was only trying to do what was best for his people and based on Confucian principles, each government official should behave like a father to those citizens who are governed by him and the King being at the apex of this government structure was just being a father to all of his people.
It must have been exasperating for the King when he is met with objections at every step of the way. You would not see this in Chinese dramas where the Chinese emperors wield absolute power.
Anyway, I'm really sorry that it ended sooner than expected and wished someone could have told KBS not to pull the plug on this show. I also wished GKS had also won more awards at the KBS Drama Awards tonight. Sigh !

I think "Empress Cheonchu" might be next. Looking forward to seeing Lady Jami in her new role. "Empress Cheonchu" won't start in Korea for two weeks... "Lucifer" aka "The Devil" is on now in the 2PM slot... That seems to be what everyone else is getting to fill the gap...

i hope AKJ will continue the great episode by episode synopsis with Cheon-chu Now this will be weird we are going from a drama that was pretty historically on the ball (having come from a drama that was very revisionist to say the least) to a drama that will take whooping liberties and have barely a grain of truth . But Kingdom of The Winds has demonstrated that you can toss facts out the window and still have a great drama so im hoping Cheon-chu will do the same .

They already showed TV special after Dae Jo Young ended and the day before the GKS series started like about how the GKS series was being made such as computer special effects of the cities and battles, recreating the inventions of Jang Younsil in the prop department, interviews with the actors, as well as the main actor of Emperor of the Sea and Dae Jo Young telling the audience to enjoy Great King Sejong now at the end of the TV special.
