tinkerbell,
You're gonna love this story. It's so cute.
'I wanna be like you': A Junglebook jolly as toddler Emily and baby orangutan Rishi monkey around together
By Mail Foreign Service Last updated at 9:11 PM on 05th December 2008
In a crawling race across the grass they're evenly matched. But Emily Bland will need a little practice before taking on her new friend at tree-climbing.
The little girl, two, met one-year-old orangutan Rishi at an animal centre while visiting with her father.
They took to each other straight away and spent hours tumbling about and having a tea party. Emily poured while Rishi waited patiently, gripping his spoon in a hairy fist.
On all fours: A delighted Emily plays with her best new friend Rishi The pair then settled down for a quiet cuddle before it was time for Emily to leave.
It was reminiscent of the scene from the 1967 Disney classic The Jungle Book, when the monkey 'King Louie' tells Mowgli: 'I wanna be like you.'
Emily's father Barry Bland, 38, a photographer, said: 'I had come along to the institute to photograph Rishi and I thought it would be good to bring Emily.
'Almost as soon as we arrived, Rishi had an instant chemistry with Emily. They looked completely content with each other.'
The friendship came as no surprise to those in charge of Rishi's home, The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (T.I.G.E.R.S) in Miami.
How sweet, a kiss for Emily, whose father says the pair hit it off instantly
Dr Bhagavan Antle: 'Orangutans are intelligent and certainly the most friendly apes on the planet.
'The youngsters enjoy their playtime and are always looking for an opportunity experience new things and make new friends and monkey around.
'Rishi, who is the youngest of the family, is always looking for someone to play with.
'That's where Emily stepped in to provide a playmate to swing in the trees, have tea with, and go for a ride.
'All infants have the capacity to get along and as youngsters the barriers between species appear to disappear.'
Orangutans are one of the most endangered species on earth.
Recent expansion of palm oil plantations and over logging of their forests in Borneo and Sumatra have created a rapidly declining habitat for these great apes.
Emily takes her new friend for a stroll 'With other species their numbers maybe less but they are stable, with orangutans their populations are plummeting,' says Dr Bhagavan Antle.
Working in conjunction with Jungle Island, T.I.G.E.R.S is a wildlife education organisation dedicated to promoting global conservation with informative, educational and entertaining interactive programs.
Under the supervision of their handlers, animals wander freely through the T.I.G.E.R.S institute, allowing spectators to enjoy an up close and personal experience.
Now living with his adopted family, females Hanuman, Aspara (both aged two) and four-year-old male Suryia, Rishi has found the perfect home.
One lump or two Rishi? The pair enjoy afternoon tea 'Rishi was brought over to T.I.G.E.R.S from Jungle Island because he was a young boy,' says Dr Antle.
'He couldn't stay with his father or the other male orangutans in the habitat because they throw the boys out.
'But he is now been fully accepted into his new group. He sleeps with them and he stays side by side with them he is when them all the time.'
Rishi will now stay at the institute where he will become part of the animal ambassadors program, participating in education and conservation presentations at Myrtle Beach and Jungle Island institutions.
Judging from these photos it looks as though Rishi has found a friend for life.
;D Aww, they're just adorable. This story made me smile. Loved it! ;D
I found another amazing story to share with you. The animals are cute but a little bit scary.
Pet cats turn out to be leopards
Six months ago, Zhang Peiwei, a herdsman from northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region took home two cubs which he thought to be wild cats. As the cats changed far beyond his expectation as they grew older, he began to wonder what they really were, and with the help of experts, he is now sure that the two big cats are snow leopards, a very rare wild animal in China. Now, still waiting for a proper solution from the authorities in terms of resettling the rare cats, Mr. Zhang can hardly afford to feed them and urgently needs help.
Around mid-May 2008, as Mr. Zhang was herding his sheep in a valley, he found two kittens in thick grass, soaked by the rain and trembling from cold. He mistook them for ordinary wild cats. Taking pity on the unfortunate creatures, he gave them food and water and took them back home. Mr. Zhang's mother had no suspicions, and helped raise the cats as pets.
By the time the animals were two months old, they were already abnormally large for wild cats, and were beginning to look much like leopards. Mr. Zhang resettled them in his sheep pen. Later he found a lamb had been killed and eaten. From then on, he suspected that the animals were leopards rather than wild cats.
The photo shows one snow leopard raised by Zhang Peiwei, a herdman in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

In early August, an official in charge of wild animal conservation in Yili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture heard about Mr. Zhang's story. He came to Mr. Zhang's house and after careful examination he came to the conclusion that the two cats were snow leopards. A month later, a zoologist accompanied by the official visited Mr. Zhang. The experts observed the animals and confirmed that they were undoubtedly snow leopards, one male and the other female.
Wild Snow leopards are very rare in China and fall under the first grade category of state protection. It is a crime to kill or sell them. After identifying the two leopards, the authorities of Yili decided to let Mr. Zhang keep the animals until they came up with a solution for resettling the cats.
The two snow leopards have lived in Mr. Zhang's home for the last six months. They have grown very big and weigh 15 kilograms each. The "owner" says he feels a kind of attachment to his big pets. But keeping them is a real headache for Mr. Zhang. As well as keeping a constant eye on them, he has to provide four to five kilograms of fresh meat to them every day. Most of his chickens, along with more than 10 sheep have already been fed to the leopards. As the cats grow older, Mr. Zhang finds it increasingly expensive to keep them. Fortunately, some organizations and individuals have lent a helping hand. In appreciation for their generosity, Mr. Zhang has promised he will do his best to raise his leopard pets well.

jinju, I found Lee Jiah's latest pictures. She went to the Philipines for the charity work. I'm so proud of her for helping those kids. She looks great. I wish she could go to Thailand too. I also found Lee Philip's interview. He talked mostly about his relationship with BYJ.
Lee Philip’s interview
*Compete with a great actor in TWSSG affected the result positively. What kind of an actor was BYJ?
Yong Joon heong (sue: heong means big brother) is a professional actor. He will handle anything well, like business. His acting techniques are excellent and I really need to learn a lot from him.
*Do you have any stories to share with us while you were acting with him?
(thinking) He recently had surgery, because he had gotten injured during the action filming. Originally, a stunt man was planned to land down after Yong Joon heong appeared, but a wire was cut, and he landed on heong’s shoulder. I believe it was very painful, but he returned for filming right after he fixed his wig and customs in the make-up truck. It made me think that he has a professional spirit.
*What kind of person is Lee Jiah, who debuted with you in the TWSSG? She was a newcomer as well, but she was good at acting and had a good personality. She acted very well even though Suzini had many lines and had to show different characteristics. Actually, she is quiet compared to Suzini’s active personality. *What did you learn from such a great actor when you were acting with him? I gained a lot, but the most precious thing was that I’ve gotten to know many seniors. If the filming period was short, then it might have ended up as a senior-nim, not heong-nim. But the filming period was long and we’ve gone though hardships, so it resulted in a very deep relationship. *Who encouraged and gave you advice at the filming sites?
It was Yong Joon heong. He treated me very well, like a brother. He always gave me advice when we were appearing in the same scenes.
We continuously try to keep in touch through the phone by calling several times a day. (*bb: my god, several times a day?!!)
*There is a rumor that you two were associated with each other (laugh). There was a rumor like that once. Ha, ha, ha. He doesn’t have a younger brother and I don’t have a brother, so it fitted well in several ways. My father even thinks of him as his son.
*I think there is chemistry between you two.
You’re right (laugh). He likes to take pictures, and he got me interested in taking pictures. Eventually I began carrying the camera around.
I like to draw paintings, and he said that he would like to start painting.
He runs his own business and I have had experiences in the States. My father is experienced due to his work in the States. We talked business together. It looks like our favorites are similar and there is chemistry between us. We are stubborn too. Ha, ha, ha. That’s why we fight some times.
Now I know why BYJ and Lee Philip are very close. Since Lee Philip's father is a successful businessman in the States, I think it will be beneficial to BYJ who's expanding his business empire. Actor Bae to Become Largest Shareholder of Japanese Firm By Han Sang-hee Staff Reporter Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon is gearing up as a businessman in Japan as he is set to acquire a stake in a listed Japanese firm sometime next year.
According to the local stock business, Kosdaq-listed distribution company Keyeast's Japanese affiliate BOF International (BOFi) will merge with Japanese digital contents distribution company Digital Adventure (DA). Bae, 36, is the largest shareholder of BOFi, with 34.64 percent of shares.
When BOFi is merged into DA next year, Bae will become the largest shareholder in the Japanese company.
"It has not been officially decided yet, but when the merging is complete, there will probably be a great exchange in stocks", an official from Keyeast said.
The local company is looking forward to various outcomes, including reliable Japanese personnel and a sales distribution like those of convenient stores and mobile and Web services.
Keyeast originally launched BOFi, entered the Japanese market and commissioned most of the businesses related to the actor, from managing Web sites, promotional events and Bae's rights regarding cups and diaries, to a Japanese company. But now, Keyeast can focus on all the preceding businesses to DA, making it more efficient in time, business and communication.
Keyeast is planning to publish travel guides that carry the beauty of Korea and also a special one that will present photos of Korea taken by the actor himself. The books will be released in Korea, Japan, China and the United States.
The company is also planning to make an animated version of the hit Korean drama "Winter Sonata" (2002) that starred Bae and fellow actress Choi Ji-woo. The two actors will lend their voices to characters in the film. It is also looking into producing the drama "The Drops of the Gods" with Bae starring.
Bae, who made it big here and in Japan with dramas "Winter Sonata" and "Taewangsasingi" ("The Legend", The Four Guardian Gods, 2007), is a popular actor who won the prestigious Hwa-Gwan Order of Cultural Merit by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism this year and also strived to expand Korean cuisine into the homes of Japanese fans with his kimchi and restaurant business.

Bo,
You're so funny. I think KSW looks just fine but STY is a little bit skinny. Since she's pregnant, she needs to eat more for her baby.
I found this article.
Lee Hyori weighs in (popseoul) Lee Hyori revealed on the Sunday television variety show, “Family Outing” that she weighs a healthy 53kg. With a height of 164cm, that’s normal. However, in Korean standards, that’s fat. Her counterpart on the show, Lee Su-kyong weighs an ideal 46 kg at 167cm height. Better to weigh more and be “healthy” than to be a bag of sagging skin and porous bones. Eck.
The confessional Family Outing episode aired on December 8th.
No wonder most Korean actresses are very skinny. News Related to Kwon Sang Woo

Other actors on the poll.

NENEI laughed when I saw those Fishy Pictures. Good thing she throws the heads away before they stink. She really spends a lot of time on each scene. A little strange but funny. Thanks for sharing them. You always find such interesting stories!I loved the story of Emily and the baby orangutan. The pictures are so cute. I especially liked the tea party and Emily pushing the stroller. Thank you, I smiled too.The snow leopards are beautiful! If they stayed that size, I would love to have one. They look so cuddly. hehe So that's an Oriental Red Cat. One time I watched a Cat Show and saw a few cats that looked like the Oriental. I didn't know what breed they were since I didn't see it from the beginning. They're a bit skinny, don't you think?Speaking of cats, I'm sure you probably heard this story on the news. Large cat attacks Santa during photo shoot (Atlantic City News) HAMILTON TOWNSHIP - A naughty feline, possibly a pet bobcat, can expect coal in its stocking for Christmas after it bit Santa Claus while having its picture taken during a fundraiser for an animal-rescue group, officials said Tuesday.
Santa will probably have to get a series of rabies shots because the owner picked up her cat and left after the incident without leaving her name and address.
The PetsMart store was doing a Santa Paws photo event Sunday to benefit the Penny Angel's Beagle Rescue, when a woman walked through the store with an "odd-looking cat," Penny Angel President Joan Kerr said Tuesday. Kerr said she was busy with the dogs up for adoption and did not approach the strange feline, but someone told her it was a bobcat.
"It had absolutely huge paws, like 3 inches around," Kerr said.
Jonathan Bebbington, 47, of Vineland, said he was playing Santa Claus and holding pets for pictures, when the woman brought a bobcat or hybrid to him at about 11:30 a.m.
"The poor thing was terrified with the dogs" in the area, but they got the animal on his lap for a picture, Bebbington said. Then the cat got out of control.
"It bit my wrist and my hand several times. It actually drew blood," Bebbington said. "It had very powerful jaws and big teeth," and could probably have bitten the hand off a baby or small child.
Bebbington estimated the cat, named Benny, weighed about 30 pounds, and was "still a kitten." The owner told him it would grow to be about 55 pounds.I found some very well done pictures of the art of finger painting. I think the eagle is fantastic!

tinkerbell,
Wow, the pictures of the art of finger painting are simply amazing. I agree with you that the eagle is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing.
Believe it or not I missed this story, hehe. I'm sorry I laughed when I read your news. It's extremely rare for a cat to attack Santa. Maybe Benny was distracted by the bright red colour, hehe. Anyhow, I'm glad he's not seriously injured.
Have you seen this story?

KMM News Updates
Actor Kim Myung-min, star of the hit drama ``Beethoven Virus,'' has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming melodrama ``My Love By My Side.''
Kim will play the challenging role of a man suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease who still maintains a sense of humor. He will appear alongside actress Ha Ji-won, who will play a cheerful funeral director.
``My Love By My Side'' is expected to be a romantic tearjerker. The film's director will be Park Jin-pyo, who directed the award-winning film ``You Are My Sunshine'' and ``Voice of a Murderer.''
Shooting for the film will begin early next year. It is tentatively scheduled to be released in the fall of 2009.
Kim's popularity has skyrocketed this year with his role as Maestro Kang, a gifted conductor, in the MBC drama about classical musicians ``Beethoven Virus.'' He recently won the top acting prize at the 2008 Korea Drama Festival.

KMM's very hot. Please read the comment below. [non BYJ] caught the virus!
for whatever reason, my itchy hands clicked PLAY and i started watching beethoven virus online from this evening... am halfway through epi 5 now, and i think i may have caught the virus!
am not particularly fond of EJA, but i'm sooooo... captivated by the kang mae character! i tell you, this kim myung min is one mighty accomplished and talented actor! if i didn't know better, i would believe that they've gotten a real conductor to play the maestro role! he's soooo... convincing!
and as annoying his character is, he plays the mean maestro with such an alarming degree of charisma! and i think this is precision acting if i've ever seen one. every word, every pitch, every gesture down to the lifting of one eyebrow or the upturn of one side of his lips...
i think KMM really really really has thought through his role and 'digested' his lines. his delivery is flawless, or at least it is up to epi 5, hehe!
am completely taken in by kang mae! i think i probably wouldn't have continued watching if not for him...
(happiebb.blogspot.com) Wanna buy a gift for someone? One of Kang Mae's suits will be great, hehe. Check them out here.
Found KMM's latest pictures. I think you'll like them.
credits: as labeled KMM looks so handsome, hehe. Wishing you a joyous Christmas!

Did one of you guys watch White Tower already? I have a question about it, I may have put it in the wrong forum. LOL.
Bo
Oh, well, I'll just put it here:
Does anyone have this set available or, alternatively, did you watch it recently enough to remember something for me? At the end of episode 2, Dr. Jang comes to Dr. Wu's office about the painting and Dr. Jang suffers a setback on that occasion. (This should be enough info for someone who actually watched the show.) I want to know what that conversation was. I already finished watching the series but I'm still curious about what happened. I believe it must be related to an earlier conversation Dr. Jang had with Dr. Choi in the operating theater after a certain operation (at the end of Ep.1). I didn't get to see THAT conversation either, but I have an idea what it was about.
If you know this, could you please PM me? I don't want to be guilty of posting any spoilers or causing them to be posted. (Nene, if you have the info perhaps you could email me at cantadora1 at yahoo dot com. If you say it out loud, it'll compute. ;D )

Bo, So sorry I can't help you because I still haven't watched White Tower yet. I know it's a great series but I just can't bring myself to watch a medical drama. The movie about a doctor that I saw is Dr. Zhivago, hehe. I've been searching for White Tower but it's not available online due to its popularity. I guess tinkerbell may be able to help you because she knows everything about KMM. ;D Right now, I'm watching Star's Lover. It's quite good. Please click on the link below to watch. Ji-woo-hime’s starpower brings in foreign coin December 14th, 2008 // by javabeans I would have thought that a Choi Ji-woo drama would have been sold to Japan months in advance, but apparently they’ve just licensed A Star’s Lover. The amount: approximately $2 million (or 27 billion won).
Broken down into episodes, that is about $100,000 per installment (with 20 episodes in all). However, the money train doesn’t end there: additional overseas contracts will bring the series an estimated $5 million in foreign revenues.
The Japanese are also looking to license the series official soundtrack, and have bid $1 million. With each additional contract, the series is raking in more money and raising its value. That’s good news in a bad economy and an industry-wide slump that has productions otherwise lowering budgets and actors cutting salaries across the board.
Long live Ji-woo-hime, eh?

Have you heard about BYJ's Yokohama X'mas Event?
It was held on Dec 14, 2009. His fans were elated to see BYJ via satellite. Do you remember Ryu Seung Soo who played Yong Kuk in Winter Sonata? BYJ invited him to join his show. I didn't know they're good friends. According to BYJ's fans, the show was a success. They enjoyed it a lot. BYJ seemed to be relaxed, playful and happy. Here are some of the pictures.
