jinju, According to several sources, BV has been extended to 18 episodes. I've just finished watching ep15. KMM is so good that I just wanted to smack him. His portrayal of conductor Kang Ma is flawless. I found out from his interview below that he spent 5 months learning how to become a conductor. That's very impressive. Do you have a chance to listen to Beethoven Virus Ost yet? It's so good. IMO, it's one of the best. Please click on the link below to download.

Interview with Kim Myung-min
Posted by medusa (viikii.net) Beethoven Virus is a heartwarming drama that features beautiful classical music and breathtaking visuals.
In Beethoven Virus (writer Hong Jin-ah, Hong Ja-ram, director Lee Jae-gyu), three people with different personal foibles and life experiences meet together as members of an orchestra where they search for meaning in their lives. A press conference for Beethoven Virus was held on September 10, 2008 before the season premiere of the show.
Actor Kim Myung-min will portray Kang Ma, an eccentric and hot-headed orchestra conductor, and he gave an impromptu performance during the press conference by conducting an orchestra to the applause of everyone.
Here is a transcript of the interview.
▶ Wasn’t it difficult to play an orchestra conductor? ▷ Whenever I take on a new role, I always hear people tell me that I choose difficult characters to play. I have doubts about whether I can handle a role when a script is given to me but I think it’s a habit of mine to go after challenging roles. It fires up my competitive spirit. It was hard in the beginning but now I’m getting the hang of it. I relish such challenges and it makes me happy.
▶ You’re very focused on the set. How do you stay focused? ▷ Most of the orchestra musicians in the TV drama are not actors. They were not used to shooting scenes all night and they had to adjust to that. Under such circumstances, I knew that if I didn’t stay focused then they would get distracted. So I really had no choice but to be like that.
▶ I’m amazed at your skill in conducting an orchestra. Did you take lessons? ▷ I took conductor lessons for five months. I don’t want to show a poor performance that would elicit comments such as, “actors shouldn’t pretend to be conductors,” or “He’s just going through the motions.” I know that how realistically I portray my character will have an impact on the show. I didn’t want to stand before an orchestra and move my arms around like a conductor. I want to show viewers that this is real. I have some doubts about myself but I did it for the show.
▶ How do you feel about the competition in the same primetime slot as your show? ▷ I would be lying if I said that I don’t feel any pressure. I feel some pressure whenever I appear in a new show. I don’t want to do a show that people will forget. Even if the show gets low ratings, I would see it as a success if it was a memorable show. I think Beethoven Virus will be well-received and draw a lot of attention from people.
▶ Do you think Beethoven Virus will make classical music popular like the Japanese TV drama Nodame Cantabile? ▷ I don’t think comparisons should be made between Nodame Cantabile and Beethoven Virus. Beethoven Virus is a based on an original story and it shares no similarities with Nodame Cantabile. It will be very different but thee is one similarity, which is the classical music theme in both TV shows.
▶ What if your character Kang Ma Changes ▷ I would like my character to stay the same throughout the show. It’s a very interesting role. He doesn’t get mad at people because he’s like that. He just has a sense of what sounds right or wrong and when people don’t meet his standards he’ll get mad at them.
▶ Are you anything like your character? ▷ I’d like to share some traits with him actually. I don’t go to extremes to attain perfection like he does but I do pursue perfection somewhat. Sometimes, he’ll go too far with an issue.
▶ How do you choose a role? ▷ It has to grab my attention. I gravitate towards roles that are challenging to me. When I read about a character and think I can handle it, then it doesn’t sound compelling to me. I want to try new things in my life and career.
▶ Is there anyone you tried to emulate when playing your character? ▷ Herbert von Karajan. I think he was the best. If Kang Ma were a real person I think he would be like him. Karajan knew so much about conducting and that was why he was so great.

Kim Myung Min Gives Expensive Grape Wine to Team
(Hanfever) Owing to a splendid performance in “Beethoven Virus” as conductor Kang, Kim Myung Min’s popularity has risen significantly over the past weeks, setting off a “Kang Mae Ee” trend. But despite being a popular star, Kim Myung Min is in reality a very amicable person and usually does his things personally. Apart from giving gifts such as sports shoes and electric toothbrush, recently he also gave a bottle of expensive grape wine to the team.
Kim Myung Min is a known grape wine fanatic and this time round he gave away his personal collection, a bottle of grape wine from Château Mouton Rothschild. This bottle of wine has appeared several times in the drama so far. As Kim Myung Min wished to share the wine with the team, he gave the bottle of grape wine as a farewell gift.
Kim Myung Min couldn’t hide his “reluctance” and said: “The team must be drained out with the hectic filming schedule of the drama. I really wish to thank them for their perserverance in creating a relaxed atmosphere for the actors and actresses despite the poor conditions. I felt excited whenever I’m portraying this weird, unique but passionate and cute at times conductor Kang.”
The final episode of “Beethoven Virus” will be shown tonight (12th Nov) with a special episode on the 13th.
Source: Chosun Lee Ji Ah Interview with Shine - Celebrity Insider $ Is there any special reason for choosing BV?
I really felt fun when I first read the script. I thought that this is going to be a warm drama with emotions and wit. Not only the main characters, but also the characters playing small parts were so alive. Of course, my faith on the director , Jae-Kyo Lee, played a great part.
$ What is it like to work with the director Jae-Kyo Lee at the sight?
When the filming first began, I thought it was going to be easier than the historical drama, because it was a modern drama. However, it didn't take long for me to realize that it's not. That is how careful and detailed the director's directing style is. I came to understand what process it took to make great images of his previous works, and
$ It must have been hard to practice as a violinist.
I think Violin is a very hard instrument. It wasn't easy even to play 'Do, Re, Mi, Fa...' correctly. I started my practice every since when I first decided to do this drama and I'm still practicing hard at the filming sight or when I have a day off. It is difficult, but I'm really enthusiastic to work hard so that I can show good looks in the drama.
$ After finishing , what was it lik to be a performer. Also, you said that acting is changing your personality. What was it that changed yourself and how did it change.
To be honest, I wasn't type of a person who show themselves in front of others. My friends, who know me very well, couldn't believe that I'm an actress. Not only the actions but also interviewing, and taking pictures were difficult for me. But, because I chose to be an actress, I am perceiving what I have to do. And now, it's much more comfortable to tell you my stories. It feels like fitting on your clothes...Perhaps that is the biggest change that has been changing me.
$ Tell us about your style and give us some fashioning tip?
I usually wear sneakers, jeans, and T-shirts with no make ups. I use mono toned colors like white, gray and black and give points using one color. The most important thing is finding a clothes that's comfortable and fitting. Even the popular and most wanted clothes can't be my style if it doesn't fit me.
$ What do you expect yourself to be after 10 years.
Right now, my first goal is to become a good actress. After finishing BV, I want to play a role in other good dramas and act a character I want to act... I want to learn and work hard and accumulate my acting career. However, just as no one expected me to be an actress, maybe I will be challenging on a new dream(Smile)

tinkerbell, I like the story of an orphan monkey and a guard dog you posted for me. "Whenever the baby monkey gets bullied, he dashes up and drives the others away. And the baby monkey is also very smart. Each time he smells danger he runs to jump on the dog's back and holds on tight."
The dog and the monkey were so adorable! They're a cute couple, hehe.
It's true I was afraid of monkeys. When I was young, I used to travel with my sisters to visit Lopburi--an old capital of Thailand. While walking through the ancient ruins, some monkeys living around that area jumped out looking for food. We were panicked, so we ran back to our car. I was so scared. The monkeys are sometimes a nuisance but they're also a main tourist attraction. Instead of getting rid of the monkeys, the locals embrace them. Every year, they will arrange a buffet for the monkeys. This unique event attracts many tourists around the world and now we call it the Monkey Festival. Now the monkeys can live along side with the townspeople. It's similar to the story of Villagers in west Africa and the crocodiles. They can also live side-by-side. It's simply amazing!
Lonesome penguin cheered up by his new friend... a stuffed toy
By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 1:17 PM on 08th November 2008 A baby penguin which had to be separated from its family after a greedy sibling continually ate all its food has found companionship - with this stuffed toy.
The penguin - called Pingu - began to lose weight and appeared weak after its bigger relative regularly helped himself to all the fish on offer.
Concerned keepers were forced to remove Pingu from the enclosure, but at just three-weeks-old the penguin was in desperate need of company.
Staff bought a £3.99 toy penguin from the zoo shop which acts as a surrogate sibling to the chuffed chick - who cuddles up to its new friend all day. Mates: Pingu the penguin chick at the Living Coasts zoo in Torquay who has found solace with a stuffed toy
Senior head keeper Tony Durkin said: 'At first it seemed everything was going well but then we noticed one sibling was growing more quickly than the other.
'You do get size differences in the wild but it only becomes a problem if the difference gets too great.
'We prefer not to interfere, as it's better for parent birds to rear their young naturally. But as the size difference increased, so did the problem.
'The smaller chick was getting some food, just not enough. When it fell in the pool we decided to give it a helping hand.
'The cuddly penguin toy is something for the chick to cosy up to and be comforted by - a surrogate family for the time being.' Pingu is living in a snug den made out of foam matting and towels with a shelter to imitate a normal burrow. Comforting: Staff at the zoo decided to hand rear the baby African penguin after noticing it's older sibling kept eating all it's food

For the first two or three days the chick was fed warm, liquidised fish from a syringe before being gradually weaned onto chunks of sprat.
Pingu now takes small whole sprats and is being fed six times a day by a team of five foster mothers.
African penguins chicks are about the same size as those of a domestic chicken . They grow quickly and at eight weeks are close to full size.
Soon after they lose their downy feathers and grow their juvenile plumage, which they keep until they are about one-and-a-half years old.
Keeper Lois Rowell added: 'The chick is quiet but quite inquisitive. It enjoys a shallow warm bath and being preened by us when its feathers need a clean up.' The youngster will return to the colony when it is strong enough to compete with the others for food.
As well as a stuffed penguin Pingu also cuddles up to a toy puffin. Staff bought a £3.99 toy penguin from the zoo shop which acts as a surrogate sibling to the chuffed chick - who cuddles up to its new friend all day. He also has a stuffed puffin

It's another heart-warming story. It's so cute. World's largest pinata unveiled in Philadelphia
Spectators get a close up view of a huge record-breaking pinata in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nov. 2, 2008. Breaking the Guinness Record for the world's largest pinata, according to an onsite Guinness adjudicator, the giant mock donkey measures 28.5 meters long; 7.2 meters wide and 18 meters tall and is filled with 8,000 pounds (3,628 kilograms) of candy. A wrecking ball is to be used later on Sunday to help smash the pinata during a public event, where Carnival Cruise Lines is producing a television commercial. (Xinhua/AFP Photo)
It's so big. I think they will need thousands of kids to eat 3,628 kilograms of candy.
Baby Stroller: Made in China
The current economy has everyone around the world looking to cut corners and save money any way they can.
One man in China decide to save the money he would spend on a baby stroller and instead make one from various parts and pieces he could find for free.
Sure it is not the most beautiful stroller and is doubtful to pass any safety inspections, but it gets the job done… and keeps the money in your pocket a little bit longer.
Kudos to the man for his creative invention! When the boy grows up, he'll be very proud of his dad.

The baby elephant that has been adopted by a sheep
By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 9:13 AM on 11th November 2008
It's as close to the lion lying down with the lamb as you are likely to see - exceot the lamb is a full-grown sheep and its snoozing partner is a baby elephant.
The unlikely bond between Themba the elephant and Albert the sheep has taken nature reserve wardens by surprise.
The six-month-old elephant was orphaned after his mother died in a fall down a cliff. Themba the orphaned baby elephant and Albert the sheep
Themba and Albert take a nap on the termite mound they have just demolished
Vets at South Africa's Sanbona wildlife reserve monitored the young elephant for a week, hoping he would be adopted and suckled by another elephant cow.
But that did not happen and staff from an animal hospital were forced to take him in so he did not starve to death.
Here at the Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, in the Eastern Cape, he was introduced to Albert.
The first meeting was not propitious.
Filmmaker naturalist Lyndal Davies, 41, said: 'All hell broke loose. Themba made a dash for the sheep and chased him around his watering hole.'
Albert dashed into the safety of a shelter at the far end of the enclosure and stayed there for the first 12 hours. Themba the orphaned baby elephant and Albert the sheep
From sheep to shepherd: Albert leads the way on one of their pair's daily jaunts
But Themba's gentle curiosity must have reassured the sheep.
Ms Davies, who is filming the pair for a documentary, said: 'Themba was very curious and kept coming up and sticking his trunk through the poles, touching Albert on his woolly back and having a good sniff.
'The next morning Albert was clearly bored and started venturing out into the main enclosure.'
She said: 'Themba wouldn't leave Albert's side and the two were seen exploring their enclosure together, with Themba's trunk resting on Albert's back.
'Ever since that moment Themba and Albert have been inseparable.'
These amazing pictures show one of the pair's daily eight-hour wanderings - essential for Themba's development.
He and Albert can be seen dozing together on a termite mound they have just demolished. Themba the orphaned baby elephant and Albert the sheep
Chowing down on acacia leaves is normal for an elephant but highly unusual for a sheep
Dr Johan Joubert, the centre's wildlife director, said the robust sheep could handle rough-and-tumble with Themba much better than the human staff.
He added: 'Albert is like a brother to Themba and he is definitely an important member of Themba's herd.
'We were a bit concerned to start with that we may end up with en elephant that thought it was a sheep, however, it's turned out to the other way round.
'Albert copies everything Themba does. In fact, they have almost the exact same diet. Albert is the first sheep I have ever seen eat a thorny acacia bush.
'He has been studying Themba and worked out the best way to get his mouth around the long, sharp thorns to reach the juicy leaves.'
The team's main objective is to get Themba back into the wild - so the pair are likely to be separated eventually.
I hope they can be together as long as possible.

NENEI see your point about the monkeys. I know sometimes they can be mean too. They're as bad as seagulls at the beach. They will steal anything not tied down. I liked your pictures from Thailand. I wonder how long ago they were built? Happy Loy Kratong! The pictures and videos are simply beautiful! I love all the bright colors, gorgeous flowers, hot air balloons, lights and fireworks. That must be quite a spectacle to see especially at night. It would take your cares and troubles away at least while you were at the festival. I'm sure it's something you'd never forget. I saw something on Globetrekker about a similar festival in Japan. They launched little boats with candles. I think it was to honor their ancestors / loved ones. Very beautiful. Thanks for sharing that.Cute story about the penguin. Sitting next to the toys, he looks like a stuffed animal himself. It was a good idea the caretakers came up with and it worked. That was a huge pinata. I saw it on the news. I'm sure there were a lot of very happy children with all that candy!I liked the baby stroller story. Somebody's junk became that man's invention. Good for him.Themba the elephant and Albert the sheep are an unlikely pair. These "friendships" must happen more than we realize. It's nice to see though.I enjoyed reading the interview with Kim Myung Min and Lee Ji Ah. Thanks for posting that.I was shocked when I heard this story this morning. It shows how fragile life can be.Bizarre News Woman killed by husband's coffinBBC NEWS Tuesday, 11 November 2008
A Brazilian woman, Marciana Silva Barcelos has died after being struck by her husband's coffin when the hearse they were traveling in was involved in a car crash.

The hearse was struck from behind by an Alfa Romeo car, police said.
The coffin slammed into the head of the woman, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the hearse, killing her instantly, according to officers.
The driver of the hearse and a son of the dead man, who was also traveling in the hearse, were treated for minor injuries.
