Yesterday was a classic ep. w/ the detailed scene of the delivery of the wedding chest to Ja-young. Extremely funny, but also fascinating...what an interesting custom, and I just loved how all involved got so into the theater of it
I bet it's very much like that...definitely jibes w/ the description in the book I read this summer on customs and traditions of Korea. My 2 favorite moments were when the delivery team declared they were taking 10 steps back because a married woman attempted to trick them into accepting a kiss on the cheek from her when they wanted a kiss from a single woman, and when the unlucky team member playing the role of horse pulled off his mask at the door and said, "I have to wash up...I stink!" LOL! Also funny was the line, "They better be happy...we we went through a lot!"
I couldn't help but think, "You think you went through a lot?? Nothing compares what these 2 went through to get where they are now!"
Fun stuff all around!

This was the first drama I've seen that paid so much attention to the delivery of the wedding chest. I never realized what an exciting custom this is! It was so much fun to watch! Other dramas have underscored the delivery because the wedding was usually taking place after the groom's mother reluctlantly gives in to his choice of a wife (remember Moon Hee's wedding chest from To Be With You - so catty!). So the delivery was a low key affair. But I've never seen how happy an event this was, or how involved it could be.

Amen! I loved that scene too -- you really felt the joy of all involved and it was really gratifying to see the love and support within the entire family. I also liked the scene the next day when Mi-ryung's mother tells her husband that YJ is actually an even nicer man than he is -- and she didn't think that was possible.
As I was watching it I thought, "Gee... we should have more customs like that in the Western world!"

Yeah, what do we have here? The groom tosses the bride's garter to his drooling buddies, and she shoves the wedding cake in his face? Or he shoves the cake in her face?
Yes, delivery of the wedding chest is indeed a delightful custom.

Like Jenny says, this was a much more extensive treatment of the chest delivery than we usually see. Every one I'd seen before just had the groom's friends arrive at the house's gate, but this followed the whole procession, and it sure did look like fun! I wonder how all the neighbors feel about the noise when one of these deliveries takes place
