Thank you very much for the list. But I would be remiss if I didn't ask: What? No pictures of King Tejong or Hwang Hee? Both Kims, Young-Cheol and Gap-Su, are two of my favorite character actors, since 2000's EMPEROR WANG-GUHN. It's been a pleasure to watch them, especially in the occasional scene where it's just them together. Ah, but I'm not really complaining. You did a great job with the list, very nice indeed!

Pictures have been tough to come by, especially the small-sized pictures that you'd need to make a good directory-type presentation. But good news; KBS just started posting small pictures on the official GKS website. I've downloaded them all and when I have time will organize them into a format that I can present here. (I'm also stuck on several of the photos because I can't read Korean and am not 100 percent sure who they are, so if there's a Korean speaker out there who can spare a few minutes to help me, please let me know; I'd sure appreciate it.)
The photos don't cover every character, but there are more than 50 and it's much better than nothing, at least.

Hi, kathleen, I'm happy to see you again. Hi, Ginny, glad to see you, too. I'll be back to Paris in late-June. Ajk, I got some photos of GKS. But I don't be able to post them upto now. Because... Primo, I'm a little bit worrying about copyright problem. Secundo, I'm actually very very occupied because of my work. I hope I can share my photo collections with you sooner or later.

Thank you for all of your hard work, ajk! When the series first started I was planning on making a character list, but my homelife sort of fell apart when a family member became ill. I have also been remiss in participating on the board and will try to get back to it. Aigu, this is a load off my mind. Thanks again! I was getting tired of spending the show making explanations like this- "Oh, come on, you know who Park Eun is... he's the one who seems to be a 'good guy' and is on Choonyoung's side. He was arguing with the Prime Minister. NO, I'm not thinking of Hwang Hee; that's NOT Hwang Hee... Hwang Hee is the Minister of Rites. You know, the guy... with the mustache, and... no-no, not Shim On, good grief..."

That's a great observation, jinju0--Since he was on that boat in the flashback scene we've been shown, he must have some sort of connection to the royal bloodline. He probably wasn't a prince, because I would think a prince would have gotten "special treatment" of some sort, but he must have been part of the royal family at least a little bit.
(By the way, Goguryeo and Goryeo are different kingdoms. Goguryeo was earlier (Dae Joyoung) and Goryeo came later. It took me a while to get that straight myself. If you look on the DJY board, there's a "historical timeline" thread with a nice illustration that shows the different kingdoms over time.)
You actually reminded me of something I meant to post somewhere. That flashback we've seen of the Wang descendants being put on a ship and and killed? It really happened. When I was looking into the Jeong Dojeon reference, I read in a Wikipedia entry that he and king Taejo put Wang family members on a ship, telling them that they'd have to live out their lives on an island somewhere, and then a crew member deliberately punctured the hull to sink the ship and drown everybody. Not quite as dramatic as the TV version, but it was interesting to find out that such a thing really did happen.

Thanks so much ajk. I've been thinking that they were possibly the same.

thanks akj, those kingdoms are confusing. when i looked at the links that candylover put up, there are SO MANY different kingdoms. so much history. thanks.
i know, i read that about the ship and then if you go through the lineage on the goryeo side all the way to present day. some of them are still alive and are still fighting to prove their lineage. it so fascinating.

ajk, do you know if Kim Ki-hyeon is the actor that plays the new prime minister Yu Jeonhyun? (i think i spelled it right) i have looked at his profile, but i didn't see it listed. but that maybe because it hasn't been updated yet. they look like each other, don't you think?

Sorry jinju0, but I'm not the person to ask. I don't keep track of the actors and am so bad with recognizing faces that I don't think I could even if I were inclined to. It does kind of look like him, but someone else will have to step up on this one.
