This thread is specifically for spoilers. That means, please do NOT post them anywhere else in the forum. The rule for a spoiler is, if the episode has not been shown in Chicago by the time you post your observation on a show, it is a spoiler. There is a thread posted with dates/episode ##s of Chicago showings, and most of the threads will either show an episode number or a date or both. (Actually, they should all show an episode number.) Just to avoid future problems, I'll say this: Don't think that if you post a spoiler with "spoiler space" or big warnings on it in a regular thread, you won't get rapped on the noggin by one of our members. People take spoilers very seriously here, and we are providing this thread for the pleasure of those who like them or are way ahead of the game and just can't stand it. Also, if you post a spoiler in the regular part of this board, it will be removed by a moderator, and they will not save your hard-typed work. So just post it here in the first place. ;D Go ahead and post anything you want in this spoiler thread, and you don't have to use spoiler space or other buffers for other members. We still expect you to follow the other rules of the board in this thread. But I know you'd do that anyway. Have fun. Bo

I am currently on episode 40. Here are a few spoilers that I have been able to figure out from watching the raw episodes.
The girl prince Choongnyeong picks up is turned over to Granny Cowsears for training as a palace escort. She will eventually become King Sejong's concubine, Lady Shin Bi / Kim ssi.
Crown Prince Yangnyeong has an affair with Auri, and she gets pregnant. CP Yangnyeong is finally deposed and Auri commits suicide. Choongnyeong becomes CP without bloodshed when his brother is deposed. King Taejong steps down from his position, goes into semi-retirement, takes care of military affairs.

Jocal, if you want to post that with a suitable "subject" line, you should be okay. How about, "article regarding King Sejong's in laws" and then, inside your actual post, you should probably say, "May contain possible spoilers."
However, if something is really not addressed in the show, it's not a spoiler at all. But a spoiler warning would be nice and polite. ;D

I have enjoyed this Drama. However, many of the plots along the way were far too stretched out.Luckily,I've toughed it out. The Chinese envoy's last words went something like this,"It takes one blind man to open the eyes of all men".A great tribute to a great king for his achievement in creating the writing system against all sorts of adversities. He was the ultimate leader by being humble, being fair and always striving to improve the lives of his people, sometimes even, at the expense of his own family.

Ok lets try this here which of the current cast of characters will meet their demise under the bloody coup by Sejongs second son Sejo His brother,Anyeong. His nephew,Danjong whose mother died giving birth to him(ie his elder brother's son)...to name two. Then there were these four who were part of the six martyred ministers who were executed in 1456. -Sung Sammun ..Hall of Worthies scholar, first seen in Ep78. -Ha Wiji ..Hall of Worthies scholar and student body president of the Confucian Academy. First seen in Ep78. -Park Pengnyeong ..Confucian Academy scholar introduced in Ep78 (the drinking contest guy). In Ep79 we see that he's in the Hall of Worthies. -Yi Gae,the Confucian Academy scholar.(Not the son of Yangnyeong and his crown princess) They reacted with outrage to Sejo's usurpation of the throne in 1455. Why the interest?Any prizes on offer? [Taken from the "Did he die?"thread]I really respected the Jang Youngsil character. He contributed so much to the Korean culture. I was extremely disappointed with the moments following #100. Nothing. No scrolling to suggest a followup. For as much as Youngsil contributed, what a shame that he was beaten to death. The writers surely could have written a more compassionate ending to Youngsil's character. Jang Youngsil didn't die.It was planned by the King that it should seem that way to get the Chinese off their backs. He was put in hiding in some temple grounds.Firstly to recover from all the injuries he sustained during the beatings and then later to carry on his usual productive life.Smart move by the King.I was upset to see so many people have so little faith in the King;thinking that he would give Youngsil up.Afterall,he had to overcome so much opposition in order to appoint Youngsil as a government officer in the first place.By the way,Youngsil was by the King's side all the way to the last scene of the drama.

The drama Sayaksuin never aired in my area but i heard it was pretty bad anyway . You're welcome Domyoungchun. No worries, only kidding about prizes! ;D Yeah,Sayuksin may have been bad due to it being jointly produced by North and South Korea?? I really liked GSK,mainly because he was so selfless, putting his people first before all else.GSK,the drama, really highlighted how corrupted, greedy and self-centered many politicians can be.I guess it would naive to think the same sort of stuff DOESN'T go on today in many countries.Thankfully,as long as we have the occasional leader like "GSK" in our world, the future remains bright to me. However,I didn't think much of the fight scenes in GSK.I just don't know how Korean sword fights rate against Japanese ones!!Do you have any opinion of them,as you've seen so many historicals?

The thing about Samurai Drama's especially if the lead was a swordsman of repute ,if the actor cant fight ,the audience and press will crucify the network and the actor and as fighting is pretty much a given in Samurai Culture it has to be done right or there will be hell to pay . Sadly of recent the Japanese Drama's have been using cgi to cover up the actors inability to fight his way out of a paper bag . I Love the fighting in Korean Dramas its like a mixture of swordplay and kickboxing . Chinese Dramas suck because everything is cgi and flying through the air . Korean Drama's really have superior production values Though Japan is a stickler for Historical accuracy (for the most part)even when its negative to themselves .
Im still waiting for this Japanese /Korean Imjin War drama that NHK/MBC are meant launch as a joint venture but as they have been haggling since about 02 im not holding my breath .
I Will list some Japanese Drama's like SHOTOKU TAISHI and HOJO TOKIMUNE that have dealt with Japanese /Korean History and used actors from both country's so ill post it in a few days

Chinese Dramas suck because everything is cgi and flying through the air . That's funny...There is a Chinese drama on in Chicago that has that... I watch it just because everyone flies at least once during a battle... There is even a flying artichoke ninja thing... Here, I put the opening and closing credits on youtube... www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvhFaNgQUeY

"There is nothing wrong with yoiur television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat, there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to......THE OUTER LIMITS."
The opening narration......The Control Voice 1960
For those of you who were able to actually, "SEE", the final episode of, The Great King SeJong, I envy you! Please humor me as I try to explain.
Last night, after waiting several weekends to see this episode, KBS aka MKTV aired this episode in black. Yes boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, the brightest things on my screen were the logos for the station and the English subs (which I guess I should be grateful for). Oh, wait, let me not exaggerate, there was the occasional neon glow of the red and gold of the emblem on the King's upper sleeve along with the white around the nape of the neck, but that was about it.
The quote from, "The Outer Limits"? Well, that was exactly what started running through my mind as I sat through this fiasco. K-dramas have been and still are being written in which the storyline tells you about the behind the scenes workings of a television station. There are monitors everywhere and PEOPLE who watch the programs as they're being aired to make sure that things run smoothly.
Well, I guess this is not how things are run with this network. Was this intentionally done in order to guarantee sales of the future box set of the drama? I don't know.
Oh, let me clarify something, this was done in the NYC area, so for those of you still watching this drama, I hope your cable company or who ever is responsible will not repeat this same ahem....cough, cough....gee, is there something stuck in my throat?.......mistake.
Pilseung, I agree with your comment about GKS and the emissary. Even Choi, the betrayer had to cry and admit how great the King was. Through watching historical dramas, I've also found that nothing has changed concerning politics in our present times.
I had been taught that in life, people can take away your personal belongings, your money, etc. But the one thing that no one can take from you is what you have inside your head, your knowledge. Watching the final episodes brought back those words that were taught to me.
I also wondered, if the King's father had lived long enough, what he would have said after seeing his son's accomplishments.
So, I will now take this time to thank the members of the Chicago board for allowing me to rant It was such an enjoyable experience, "reading", the final episode of, "The Great King Se Jong".

Bo, I have tried the e-mail contact links and the phone numbers I did find were for California.
I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt and told myself that they were using and artistic approach by letting the viewers experience King Se Jong's blindness.........(I just lied to myself)
I told myself that if it's a satellite feed, then there were sunspots affecting the transmission.............(yeah, I work at NASA, want to see my ID?)
I also told myself that it's somebody's relative who works at the station and the supervisor's nor management can complain about them.............(I like this one!)
Ahhhhh.......such is life!

Bijan, I can tell you the final episode aired normally in L.A.
Unfortunately, my stupidity in setting the VCR resulted in missing the scenes between dongchangs attempt on the King's life and the announcement ceremony!!!! Arrgh!!!!
So now I too have to wait for ajk's transcription to tie up the loose ends.
Sigh...........
