Most people I know would consider it an invasion of privacy if their cell phone was answered even by an acquaintance, let alone a stranger. On several occasions in this drama, strangers like bartenders answer other people's phones!!I wonder whether that's a common practice in Korea or maybe it's just for the sake of continuity in the dramas' scenes?

I do recall someone scolding someone else for answering a phone. Maybe it was Seonjae to Sua. I don't believe it's common practice, however. cell phones play a big part in the modern dramas. So many times a plot shift is launched by a cell phone call. In a twist I won't give away, a text message left on a phone belonging to another person starts something big.

In the case of a bartender answering a phone - I think that is a real possibility if the person is so drunk they are either passed out or cannot answer the phone especially if the bartender does not know the person. That way he/she can ask the caller to come and get the drunk LOL. that has happened in many other K-dramas - so I don't know if it's real situation in Korea or just a new way for a drama twist? ahh - progress ..

I've seen it in American dramas, too, Soapy. I know if I had some drunk on my hands and their cellphone rang, I might be tempted to answer it. Also, I've seen (on K-dramas) where a cab driver or bartender uses a passed-out party's cellphone to MAKE a call to a family member! I guess if you answer the cellphone, you never know whom you'll get, but if you make the call, you can look at their phone list, which will be (hopefully) organized in some manner.
To put this into perspective, though, I've got the first two years of the Perry Mason show (1950s-60s) on DVD, and several times I see where a bartender has searched a drunk's pockets for phone numbers and called a likely party for help. So it's not like this is a new idea.

Personally, I wouldn't answer someone's cell unless asked by said person cause I know I'd probably eat someone alive if they answered mine lol

Brooklyn That's what I'm talking about......your reaction to someone answering your cell is what I deem normal! Tho' I suppose what Soapygrams and TheBo said about drunks and bartenders/cabdrivers is a reasonable exception.

Sometimes someone answers someone else's phone just because it will cause trouble. Sua took care of Seonjae and took him to a hotel when he got drunk, then when he was in the shower and Jiyeung called, Sua answered and, did she tell her he was showering? I don't remember-, then when they hung up, she got the most evil look on her face-- like, hah, I got her good that time...pretty soon he'll be mine.

;D Yeah Ginny, you're right. Sua answered the phone and most delightedly told Jieyong that he's "taking a shower now" ... with that cat who swallowed the canary look ..

I think it is weird when all the characters are always picking up and talking on their cell phones at work!! i am so surprised that it is not frowned upon!

I think that's strange too PippiBella, and then they get up and leave their workstation to go have a conversation. What's with that? Things must be very lenient in their office.
