W00t! Finally! Dae Jo Young should have chopped his head off with one sword strike and put it on top of his army's largest standard. ;D That way when his army marches to Liao River Fort, Li Kaigu can see his former servant/teacher's head attached on top of one of their main battle flags.

What episode does this wondrous event happen? ? I think it must be 131, midwestmom, because that's the scheduled one for last night. However, it might be 130. Anyone (who's actually watching)? Bo

That's right, it's #131. And I must say, considering some of the drawn-out death storylines of other "bad guys" earlier in the series, I expected more. He really did get off easy, considering he's been the brains behind so much of the horrible stuff that's happened to the Goguryeans. If anybody deserved to suffer, he did. But I think DJY handled it right: just kill him quickly and get on with your business.
Is anybody else getting annoyed by the way that the significant players have been dropping like flies over the last few episodes? We went dozens of episodes with nobody dying and now the writers are trying to cram as many deaths as they can into the final episodes. Not only does it lessen the impact of each death, but it just all seems so contrived.

I couldn't agree with you more, AJK. I was particularly annoyed by all the good-guy deaths - - hey, three of them were fictional characters, so what was the point? It's been a regular bloodbath lately. The death of Shin Hong was, to me, anticlimactic. The only good part was the way that DJY, et al, left him and walked over and around him like a piece of rubbish.

ajk & pip -- totally agree about the deaths--- when we do a series re-cap thread (actually, i think i started one already), the pacing is definitely something i didn't like & want to address.
They certainly could've stretched out the deaths, and giving some of the characters more of a finale. For example, they could have had Xue Rengui have a final challenge with Dae JangSung...make it in epic battle of two warriors who respect each other. Xue Rengui could have died. ANd then, in a surprise move, Hongpei, who is so disraught", gives DJS a mortal blow, with Li Kaigu adding one last blow. According to history, DJS survived for a short time, but passed on his title to Dae Jo Young.
For me, Shin Hong's death was sad & cruel...his last act of loyalty winds up killing his master.
i suppose that's justice -- that he ends his life in truly total failure.

As happy as I was to see Shin Hong finally get it -- with the added bonus of him knowing that he himself, in his loyalty to his master, will be the instrument of his master's death -- there was some poignancy in seeing this old man so unwilling to give up and so loving and devoted to his master that he picked up a rock and tried to bash DJY's head in -- while surrounded by DJY's men and while he was clearly weak! The last act of misguided devotion by a generally misguided man, a snake whose only virtue was loyalty and his love for the man he brought up as his son (LK).

Shin Hong was a rollin' stone... Wherever he laid his head was his home... And then he died! ;D ;D
A cheerful shout resounded through our living room when the ol' man kicked the bucket! Who ever thought this day would finally come? ;D Ra-ra, sis-boom-ba. . . .

would it not have been better say for Biwu to put the old creep in a choke hold and make him watch DJY fight and off his loved master . Than Goem could run up and hug DJY ,By this time assuming the old geezer still has some blood vessels left ,Biwu could slash the backs of his legs and cripple him , Than the whole of DJY's party could take off leaving him broke ,destitute, crippled but alive to rue his errors .

Nope, don't agree at all. Torturing people just to satisfy your own hatred only takes away energy that could be used for more constructive things. Plus it brings you down to a very low level. Just kill him and be done with it, and move on. DJY handled it exactly right.
