"Ride the coaster, get cool, in the waves, in the pool, you'll have FUN!"
Anyway, I think that the Generals board would be a much better place to organize this gathering. I'm sure there are others from your area who maybe don't watch "Likable" whom you could entice to "swing all day and after dark" at the Palisades.

Can't help bringing up hair again. I just seem to notice it a lot.
Did Dongji get a perm? She used to wear a smooth bun but now there's a curly thing going on in back. Is it because of her status as rich man's wife? Or maybe the actress just fancied a change.

Gworks, Personally, I would love to meet in NJ -- easier to park. Maybe we should post on the General Board -- it would be fun getting together over a glass of soju!

I like Dongji's new hairdo too, brooklyn. But I'm not too sure about her.

I haven't seen the new hair style yet but wanted to comment on something else. For once I wasn't annoyed with Dongji. She actually stuck up for her son when he didn't want to go on a blind date. I cheered when she defended him!!!

OK, Tinkerbell. Chalk one up for Dongji on the plus column. (And about a thousand on the minus.)
I guess she's not all bad and I really want her to fulfill her promise at the beginning of the show of being the good, honorable character who stands up for what's right and has a big heart.
I'm waiting.

You're right puppy, I wish she'd start being more bold and speak up when she should. She can do that without being disrespectful. Here's hoping.

Just saw ep. # 97 last night.

I seem to remember in the beginning of this drama, Dongji having a back bone -- before marrying Mansu. I mean she had her own business, and she was tough with Baekho for gambling away that club money. She was totally different. Now she's just plain annoying. Why would anyone give up her previous lifestyle to be the slave to their mother-in-law? I mean with all that money, she's doing more housework than before the marriage. How did this marriage benefit her?

How did it benefit her? She is married to the man she has loved for years. She knew what type of treatment she was going to receive - in fact at one time that is exactly what she told Mansu - that she didn't want to live with his mother's disapproval. He said he would take care of it. Yeah - right - well in his mind he has tried. Problem is, he doesn't understand the dynamics of the relationship between his mother and his wife. MIL evidently adored his first wife, since Wife #1 was picked out by her and that is why she refused to accept Dongji the first time. Now Mansu told MIL that he loves and will marry Dongji no matter what. So MIL already has an attitude AGAINST Dongji before she even walked into that house. Dongji knew this and believe me, she is STILL that strong woman. It is almost impossible for us to understand because we were not raised in that culture. As has been mentioned many times before on this thread, Dongji fighting back is useless. The only way she can "win" MIL over, for MIL to change her attitude and accept Dongji. We have seen glimpses of that happening. For full glacial thawing, it takes time; that is what and why Dongji continues to be so humble and self-effacing. While me might not LIKE it, we should at least try to understand WHY Dongji's character acts the way she does. It takes so much more strength to keep your mouth shut than to yell and scream - Sua does that all the time - Dongji could never be that type of person..

I agree soapygrams. MIL's disapproval was the big stumbling block from the very beginning. That's why it took Dongji so long to finally agree to marry Mansu. She thought long and hard about what she was getting into and knew what she'd have to face. To her, being with the man she has loved for years, was worth the price.
I would also say she's a strong woman to put up with the way MIL treats her day after day. That's got to be extremely tough.

Soapy I totally agree with you. Altough I have to admit that I'm guilty of judging Dongji as a weak character. I also see her as a brave woman who raised a great son and took good care of him. I think most of the time she tries to avoid friction with evil mil because she knows it is sure to backfire against her or her son. This is probably why she was so reluctant to marry Mansu and we have to remember that we don't know exactly what happened in the past to make her so ''weak'' when it comes to mil.
