so. Once upon a time, in my little corner of the web, I knew a lot of people who would spend the time waiting for the next new episode of their favorite shows doing fanart. Fun way to fill the time and relive what's gone before in anticipation of what's to come. Since no one seems to do that with DJY making this post here feels more than a bit weird and intimidating, but I had the urge to dive back into Photoshop and no one I know is going to have a clue what's going on with these... so I thought I'd see if anyone here wanted to see what I've been playing around with. I'm really rusty after all this time, so I tried to set myself the goal of doing as many pieces as I could with images from the 4 episodes I had saved on my HD, just as an exercise to get back into the flow. They're nothing great, but they were fun to do. These will of course spoil you mightily! Up through episode 124. Or possibly beyond if you go to these links at some point in the future after I've done more. But no further than the Chicago airdates, anyway! You can view them in slideshow format: www.vrya.net/ts/new/index.php?directory=.&auto=1¤tPic=0 or in a still gallery of the larger versions: www.vrya.net/ts/gallery.php?gid=59Anyone else photoshop? Wanna join me and give it a whirl? I'd love to see what other people come up with...

I thought that your Photoshop was great. One day I hope that I can learn to do it too.

In terms of fanart, I'm only limited to MS paint. One of my specialties is making what some refer to as "spites". Here are some old examples. Kyung Dae-Seung Yi Ko Yi Ui-Bang And for those of you who are familiar with the popular anime titles, this should ring some bells then. So if any would like me to make Dae Jo Young "sprites(whateveryoucallthem)", I sure would, then throw up some suggestions. Although bare with me on that I live on the east coast and we're only in the 60's. So I'm not up to date as far as everyone else here is.

vickieh, thanks! I just learned by messing around, that's the best way. I'm sure you can learn too, just start experimenting. dethscithe, wow, if you can do that with mspaint, you should check out this free drawing program: www.inkscape.org It's vector based, so you can scale the output as large or small as you like, and it's really easy to use, even with just a mouse. And did I mention, free? I'm not very good at drawing but even I enjoy using this program!

rya, thank you so much! Your caption for "Making his move" was so funny! And I really enjoyed the Buffy episode pieces!! What did you start with, the DVDs on your computer?

ginnycat, thanks! to answer your question: for best results I like to work with commercial dvds (or in the case of Buffy, I could almost always find someone's hdtv divx file via bittorrent if it wasn't out on DVD yet!), but for djy I'm just working off analog broadcast from my bunny-ear antenna. I record the episode as it airs using my el-cheapo dvd recorder and then I use my computer to "rip" the disc to my hard-drive where I can get at individual frames; it's similar to ripping an audio cd into mp3s.

Are any of you fellow Buffy fans reading the 8th season in the comic books? I'm enjoying them, but each one is over so fast. Also I don't understand "thricewise" and how Dawn could be so giant.
