lol yeah, I noticed it tonight, clever planning there. I saw a preview and it looks like Seonjae is going to blow off fritter lips for good, also he yelled at his girlfriend. I'll see tomorrow but like I can't help but get angry with him for not having a back bone from the start.

I've been watching this on KBS America, and they jumped 7 episodes in one day! We were on episode 30 on Wednesday, and then they showed # 38 the next day (two hours later than usual) It does look like Sua is starting to win over Seonjae, and her grandmom is going to come to the rescue for him with the Russian investment.

I was in Korea before the show started. The advertisement clips said the show was to contrast Seonjae and Baekho.
At the start of the show, Seonjae is a handsome, successful young man that any parent would be happy to let their daughter bring home. However, whenever he has a choice to make between love, honour over power, wealth, he will chose the latter. Even if it means turning his back on a long time g.f. or even his Dad. After he chooses Sua, his life is 'made' until a mistake unravells it all.
Baeko starts off as a good for nothing jobless bum. But his positive quality is his optimism and deep love for his family. Whenever he has a choice to make, he will always choose his family over the easy way out. He starts at the bottom of the scale in his step-father's company and works his way up through hard work and integrity.

We've seen a bit of that with Baeko, but the other one still looks good. (I can't stand his father, tho. He's so mean to his wife. ) btw, do you speak Korean? Sometimes we have questions about translations (or cooking), so it's fun to have people coming here who we can ask.

If you ask my Grandmother, she will say no, not at all! My maternal Grandmother is Korean and to her, I butcher her language! From the time I was little to now, whenever we meet her friends, she always tells me to just smile and keep quiet and if I absolutely have to speak, not to speak in Korean! Then to her friends, this Grandmother who always advocates that honesty is the best policy would apologise to them and say I'm too shy and tongue-tied! I understand the language better than I speak it. Mostly, if I speak to native Koreans, I have to repeat myself a couple of times before they understand!

Oh, too bad, Sheila, don't you get any points for trying? I wonder about the grandchildren of her friends. Are they so fluent in Korean? And you watch Korean dramas - more points there, IMO.

I have read that Korean Koreans are pleased and impressed when a Westerner attempts to speak Korean, unless that Westerner is of Korean descent, in which case they are disparaged for not speaking Korean fluently.

Sadly, what Soju says is true. Koreans (well the older generation) always shake their heads and say "Korean and yet can't speak Korean!". The grandchildren of my grandmother's friends and I avoid each other. Not that we don't like each other. Its just to prevent our grandmothers from going into matchmaking frenzy mode! Very very scary and no corner of the world is far or safe enough from Korean grandmothers!

I'm half korean. Can't speak a word. Well I can understand Korean great and could speak a sentence or two. Use to live in Korea, but moved back to America a few years back. I like, totally forgot the langauge and my mom's like learn it back, learn it back!
Baekho has an idea of sliced tofu. How...amusing. Sliced tofu for taejung soup [which, btw, is super good if you have my grandma's.] seems a bit...I dunno lazy? Baekho reveals he loves to cook, which isn't much of a surprise.
And Seonjae kisses his girlfriend which is pretty 'awww' to me.
Seriously.
But if that's how Seonjae is trying to get rid of his problems, it isn't going to work. People are pulling from the oil funds and Sunjae is having a darn hard time and Sua is desperately trying to win him back by trying to support the funds by getting help from her father and grandmother. Half of me wants Sua to succeed and get the oil pipes up and running and still plenty of funders, but another part of me is her to fail and Seonjae just try to live a life with his girlfriend. I mean, his mom is like bleh. Who cares if her son will be the president of Bonjour Foods one day if Sua marries Seonjae? Love beats fame and power like a lot. Can't the mother see that gosh darnit! Been a while since we seen Seonjae grin.
[New epi right now! Yeyy!]
