Oh, no! I just read the part about Choi Jin-shil! I am very sad. She was so good in Rose Life (but very pitiful), and at that time she was going through a terrible, humiliating divorce, too. This woman seems to have had many awful occurrences of late. I am sorry she was unable to get through this last crisis. I'm sure the unrelenting on-line rumor-mongering that follows these Korean stars didn't help any. I think people are even more vicious when the person involved was so beloved, as she has been. How terrible and senseless.

tinkerbell, I found some pictures of interspecies animals to share with you. I never thought they could be friends. They're so cute and adorable.
When I saw the last picture, I immediately thought of you. I know you don't like snakes but I can't resist. It's so cute.

(kbs world)
DAE JO YOUNG
TWSSG (LEGEND)
I'm rooting for DAE JO YOUNG and TWSSG and I'll be very happy if these two wonderful dramas win. Wow, two megastars--Choi Soo Jong and Kim Myung Min are among the nominees for Best Actor Award. I love and admire both of them. They're charismatic and outstanding actors. IMO, both of them deserve to be the winners.
That's very sad to know she had endured so much and the final week must have been a torment for her. I'm so sorry she didn't seek help. I agree with you that what's going on around the web is quite scary. I used to discuss with jinju about rumours and personal attacks against some celebrities. Here's one example:

NENE,I absolutely loved those pictures from Thailand. They are hilarious! I think I'll pass on the "pork cook with offensive odor and rice" and try the "paper steak with trench tries" instead. After that I may visit the "saloon" to get my hair done. Somebody obviously doesn't know the difference between a catfish and a tuna. Thanks for the laughs.Very interesting stories about the flying pig and huge fish. The baby lion is adorable! I know it's been on the news about the babies who have died and became ill due to the tainted milk from China. Now it's animals too. So sad and it's all because of greed. Happy Belated Birthday to Kim Myung-Min I found some funny signs for you too.I'm not sure where this was taken, but at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, you see the same signs. Unfortunately whenever I was there, I never got to see a tank crossing the road.

jinju, You're welcome. When I saw his pictures, I was very excited and very happy. Besides being a handsome actor, HXM is also a compassionate, charitable and generous person. He donated over US$150,000 to help protect pandas. That's a lot of money.
Good news!
We'll have a chance to see our favorite actors--So Ji Sup and Shin Hyun Joon on TV screen again. So Ji Sup and Shin Hyun Joon Are Brothers in Cain and Abel October 10, 2008 by coolsmurf
After a series of incidents including delays, name change, Ryeo Won dropping out, SBS announced today that the drama which was known as “Cain and Abel” before becoming “Dr. Stop” in September will use back the original name. So Ji Sup will still lead the drama but with the addition of Shin Hyun Joon.
This will be So Ji Sup and Shin Hyun Joon comeback after a 5-year gap since their dramas “Sorry I Love You” and “Stairway to Heaven” in 2004 respectively.
So Ji Sup plays Cho-In who is a genius doctor but is isolated from the higher powers of hospital politics. Shin Hyun Joon plays his elder brother, Seon Woo who thinks that his brother has taken everything away from him such as their father’s love, his talent as a doctor and his beloved woman.
According to the production company, “The development of Cain and Abel with the conflict between the two brothers as the base story has taken more than 2 years. We will continue with So Ji Sup as planned and have Shin Hyun Joon acting opposite him as his brother. We have also confirmed that the female lead will be Chae Jung Ahn whose last drama was “Coffee Shop 1st Prince”.”
Filming starts in November and scheduled for February 2009 broadcast. I think the second half of 2008 is very exciting. There're so many good dramas for us to watch. I can hardly keep up with them. BTW, thank you so much for telling me where to watch Beethoven Virus. I love it. I've been searching for Rose Life but no luck yet. I'll keep trying. Thanks again for your recommendation.
I love Lee Ji Ah in BV too. She's just wonderful. I'm glad the production company decided to extend this series to 19 episodes.
Lee Ji-ah, design major!
Lee Ji-ah is an actress who gained popularity starring with Bae Yong-joon in "The Legend" and currently acting as Du Roo-mi in "Beethoven Virus".
It is known that she majored in design! She designed her own homepage and and outfits.
She wore a dress that she designed for film festivals and even her everyday t-shirts!
Here are pictures of what she has designed including necklaces and violin case.
What a woman of many talents!
I also found Lee Ji Ah's lovely pictures at her official website.
She's so beautiful and talented. I wish BYJ and Lee Ji Ah could end up together. They're such a lovely couple.
October seems to be a very good month for weddings. KSW & Son Tae Young just got married earlier this month. Park Sang Woon & Shin Eun Jung are ready to tie the knot on Oct 18, 2008. It's gonna be another high profile wedding too.
Park Sang Woon & Shin Eun Jung's Upcoming Wedding Based on Jessica's finding, the news sources mentioned that the wedding ceremony will be held on Oct 18, at 3pm at Gangwon-do Vivaldi's Park.(xiaoyi's dear yong joon)
Jumuchi and Dalbi in TWSSG. They looked very lovely together. Many BYJ fans are worried if he'll show up at the wedding or not.
I found this article.
‘The Wedding or The Cultural Award?’ BYJ is in a dilemma for the schedule of the 18th. 2008-10-10 13:21:46
An officer of BYJ’s management company said, “It seems early to worry, because receiving The Cultural Award isn’t decided yet, but it’ll be very hard to adjust the schedule for the 18th when it’s confirmed. But it seems that he’ll surely show up for the fans either at the wedding or The Cultural Award ceremony.”
Edaily SPN, Reporter Kim Yong Un I think BYJ will attend Park Sung Woong and Shin Eun Jung's wedding because they're very close. What do you think?
I also found Philip Lee's story at xiaoyi's dear yong joon Phillip Lee's dad featuring in MBC's Program on Success Stories (xiaoyi's dear yong joon)
his family
His house is beautiful and huge. I wish I could have one like that. jinju, do you know if he has any project in the near future? I miss him too.

tinkerbell, Thank you so much for those funny signs. I've never seen them before.
I'll pass on Deep Fried Crap because I'm allergic to seafood like jinju.
If I follow this sign below, I might not survive, hahaha. This is scary.
If I saw this sign, I might collapse. It reminds me of political unrest in my country a few years ago. I've never been to North Carolina before but I heard it's a very beautiful State. How's the weather down there?I'm glad you like those funny signs from Thailand. If you understand Thai, you'll enjoy them much more. They're funnier than you thought. I also found a collection of funny signs at tefl.net. They're taken from around the world.

‘Time Between Dog and Wolf’ Wins Best Drama Award
The award ceremony of the 3rd Seoul Drama Festival 2008 is going to be held tomorrow night (14th) at Youido Park and the committee announced today (13th) that MBC’s “Time Between Dog and Wolf” has won the Best Television Drama Award. At the same time, the lead actor and actress of the drama, Lee Joon Ki and Nam Sang Mi, have won the Popularity Award for the actors and actresses categories respectively.
Lee Jun Ki Nam Sang Mi The results were taken from an internet poll that drew a total of 5.5 million voters from over 25 countries, including South Korea, Japan, China and USA, making an overwhelming 27 million votes by the end of the poll. “Time Between Dog and Wolf” was given the assurance in South Korea and Japan, triumphing the poll with 58.9% and 66.1% respectively. Kang Ji Hwan and Sung Yuri’s “Hong Gil Dong” was in the second place while “First Shop of Coffee Prince” grabbed the third.
It is interesting to note that the combined votes of “Time Between Dog and Wolf” and “Hong Gil Dong” stood at 97%, leaving all other dramas out of the competition right from the start.
Congratulations to Lee Joon Ki and Nam Sang Mi! And of course the production team of “Time Between Dog and Wolf” as well. I wonder if they will be there at the award ceremony tomorrow. It will be nice if Nam Sang Mi, Sung Yuri and Yoon Eun Hye can be there. That would be perfect. Source: mydaily jinju, it's time for you to go back and finish Time Between Dog and Wolf. ;D It's a very good series. I love it. I'm going to rewatch it sometime next week. Anyone interested can watch it here:
I'm so happy for Lee Jun Ki & Nam Sang Mi and Time Between Dog and Wolf production team. Congrats to Hong Gil Dong and First Shop of Coffee Prince too. I love them all. WooHoo!

jinju,
I found News Updates for you.
Seoul Drama Awards 2008 (Hanfever) The Seoul Drama Awards 2008 was held today afternoon at KBS TV station. Below are the pictures of stars walking the red carpet. It’s a pity there isn’t really many stars attending, but I guess it’s still a little better than the closing ceremony of the Pusan International Film Festival.
No drama at the 2008 Seoul Drama Awards
Lame, lame, lame. I’d kind of figured that the newish Seoul Drama Awards would be bland (it’s their third year) based on the voting and nominees, so the results weren’t as disappointing as they would have been if I’d taken the Seoul Drama Festival seriously. As it was, there was a total lack of drama.
First off, the actual awards themselves were kind of… wonky. With dramas from all over the world competing (33 countries, 152 entries), the actual Korean series entered for judging (and which advanced) were hardly Korea’s best work of the past year.
Secondly, and perhaps for the above reason, there was a serious absence of stars — aside from the ones who were either presenting or receiving awards, that is. I wouldn’t call the red carpet and pre-carpet events “beyond pitiful” as one paper did, but when the only way to get actors to come to your event is to bribe them, you know you’ve still got a road ahead to being taken seriously. I can understand awarding the online popularity award to Nam Sang-mi (adorable) and Lee Junki, above, both of the thriller drama Time and Dog and Wolf. But Golden Bride? Jungle Fish? Erm……
The ceremony was held at the KBS Hall in Yoido, Seoul, on October 14. Sageuk specialist Choi Su-jong (Dae Jo Young) and singer-actress Eugene (Three Dads, One Mom), above, presided as MCs for the event (Misuda panelists Saori and Eva acted as interpreters).
* Golden Bride won the Excellence Award for drama series. * KBS’s Jungle Fish won in the youth drama category. * Gourmet’s head chef Choi Bool-am won the “Star Award.” * In addition to its actors winning the netizen popularity vote, Time of Dog and Wolf garnered the netizen vote for favorite drama. * Grand prize for drama series went to China’s Hero Without a Name. 2010-2012 Visit Korea years!
source: korea herald
2010-2012 declared `Visit Korea` years
Korea yesterday announced the years 2010 to 2012 as the "Visit Korea" campaign period, to prop up efforts to strengthen the nation`s tourism industry.
The declaration was made before some 800 participants at a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Tourism Association and the Visit Korea committee at Lotte Hotel Seoul. The event also commemorated the 35th anniversary of the World Tourism Day that officially fell on Sept. 27.
First Lady Kim Yoon-ok (left) hands over a statue to congratulate actor Bae Yong-joon, who was appointed a special tourism ambassador for the Visit Korea campaign 2010-2012, at Lotte Hotel Seoul in Sogong-dong yesterday. [Lee Gil-dong/The Korea Herald]
The Visit Korea campaign 2010-2012 will be a nationwide project aimed at attracting 10 million tourists and drawing $10 billion in profits annually by year 2012. This is the third installment of the Visit Korea campaign, following the first in 1994 and the second between 2001 and 2002.
During the campaign period, various state-funded and privately-sponsored programs will be implemented, such as on-site promotions at target market regions including Japan, China and Southeast Asian countries. Overseas advertisements will also be enhanced while various hospitality campaigns will be held. The government and each municipality will also overhaul the convenience level for foreign travelers such as signboards on the streets.
"Together with the private sector, we also plan to start the so-called `Korea Grand Sale` program offering discounts in air fare and shopping for travelers," said Kim Hyun-joon of the Culture Ministry`s Tourism Policy Division.
Last year, a total of 6.45 million foreign nationals visited Korea, bringing in $5.8 billion in profits.
Attending the ceremony were Culture Minister Yu In-chon, business dignitaries, celebrities and foreign envoys, among others.
First Lady Kim Yoon-ok, who attended the event as an honorary Visit Korea committee member, said, "Let us put our efforts together to make Korea a country of integrity, passion and hope, a destination where world travelers would want to revisit and stay."
A total of 23 figures were awarded by the government for having contributed to boosting the tourism industry. Another 113 received prizes from the culture minister for their tourism-related activities.
Among the recipients of the government award was the late Kim Chan-sam, a renowned traveler who is said to have pioneered overseas travels by Koreans. He has authored numerous books on overseas traveling. He received the "Moranjang," a decoration of honor.
Actor Ryu Si-won also received a presidential commendation for his work as a spokesperson for Korea`s culture and tourism for three years from 2006.
Actor Bae Yong-joon, who is popular in Japan and other parts of Asia, was appointed as a special ambassador for the Visit Korea campaign for 2010 to 2012.
The tourism business has been faltering recently with a low yearly increase rate of incoming foreign travelers at a mere three to five percent.

jkn, Welcome back, we missed you!
I found this picture. Jet Li and Crystal Liu looked great, didn't they?
While searching for Jet Li's pictures, I found this info...
"Subsequent media reports confirmed that besides Jet, acclaimed director Chen Kaige and his actress wife Chen Hong, actress Jiang Liwen and her director husband Gu Changwei, and award-winning actress Joan Chen had also become US citizens." This is new to me. Now I understand why Jet Li had no role in the promotion of Beijing Olympics. Read more here:
How's your leg? Is it fully recovered yet? I know it takes time to heal. I'm still fascinated by the pictures of your exotic restaurant in China. If you can go and eat there, you can overcome any obstacles in your life. I'm not going. I'm willing to eat my noodles at home, hehe. Thanks for those amazing pictures. Hope to see some more from you soon.
Do you like So Ji Sup? I do. I'm glad he's having several projects--movies and dramas. Cain and Abel is his newest drama. It's gonna be another good series. WooHoo! He will be paired up with Shin Hyun Joon--another talented actor. Are you familiar with Barefoot Gi Bong? I watched it a few months ago and I liked it a lot. It's a sweet and heart-warming movie. At first I watched it out of curiosity but it turned out to be a very good movie. His performance really touched my heart. He's adorable and I like him a lot.
