Welcome, otaku, and no need to apologize for lurking; I'm sure most people start out that way. I did it myself for the duration of one whole show (IYSS). Please do share whatever wisdom you can for any of the shows you watch.

Hi Otaku, I am also new here. I was a lurker too for a long time. Ever since I saw Rooftop Room Cat a few years ago. This is the show that started my kdrama obsession. Aren't you glad we decided to stop lurking? :)Welcome

What do the stars under members' names signify?

Pip, the stars tell what your "level" is (determined by how many postings you make). For instance, you have one star, and you are a "new addict," whereas kathleen is a "wang" (Korean for king) and she has 5 stars. See, under the name and over the stars? I can't remember what the levels are, but if you look around at peoples' profiles in the threads you post in, you'll see they have different star levels.
We had a fellow here at one time under the mistaken impression that he might become a moderator if he garnered enough stars, so he madly posted non sequiturs to everything, but this did not work out for him--it does not work that way. He got carpal tunnel for nothing. LOL.

You're right, cyuser--for a U.S.-based board, I was surprised at the choice of term when I first saw it. Is there something equally complimentary but without the English-slang baggage that could be used instead? (Not that I'm trying to stir up trouble; just curious.)

You two are doofi (try looking that one up), fer sher. Mr. Michael Han, our board's founder, who is a Korean person living in America and who would never, ever, EVER make an off-color joke, and I'm not kidding on that, chose the titles. "Wang" is fitting, as anyone who watched "Emperor Wang Gun" could attest. So you just get your little minds up onto that higher plane. LOL.
