Why is "Oh Dalja shay" Taebong's "Guardian" when he already has parents and a Grandfather??

Maybe the word guardian is being misused. Remember that when Ms Go was in the hospital Dalja was her guardian as well. Ms Go had a mother and a husband.

Every patient in a Korean hospital seems to need a guardian, and it appears you can just say "I'm so-and-so's guardian." And yet, in the "Chill Sisters," when Ttengchill was having serious problems with the baby, no one was able to help her until her husband got there, even though her life was in danger. Not her parents, her MIL, or her sisters. I think our error is in expecting to learn "facts" about the Korean way of life from dramas.
