This guy changes his mind and motives more often than the giseangs change their hanboks! In Wednesday's episode he agrees to Jini's request to speak to the King to save Junghan out of hatred. When Jini points out that it would be worse for Junghan if he lived as he would be disgraced, Byeok goes to the King. But wait. . .there's more! ;D He has a half-dead Junghan nursed back to health at his place after getting the execution stopped! Tonight we see a different man. After a talk with Boohyong (who, by the way, is the only person who seems to be able to get anywhere with this guy in terms of getting him to see the truth) he intervenes again and not only saves Junghan but Jini as well. He seems to have regained his humanity and in his final scene of the evening we see him in tearful anguish over the "fall" of Junghan. He is distraught over his friend's drinking and grieves for Junghan's inability to accept what has happened to him. When Byeok tearfully grabs a weeping Junghan, the tables are turned and he is in the role of true friend. Love conquers the hardest of hearts (if tonight's behavior is to be believed). Byeok becomes the friend of both! (Maybe he just became tired of hating! Intrigue takes alot of energy.

About Boo-young being the only one to make Byeok come to terms with his actions, I think it's because the two of them are so alike. Him and her both thirst for power and crave for people to shower them with praises and affection. When they feel like they're not getting what they so obviously deserve, they hack crazy plots to destroy their "competition". The best part about it is, it looks like they can help each other though. I like how Boo-young's done this 180 and just thought about what she's become. Byeok realizes this too, as is clearly visible in last night's episode. He's just afraid of being viewed as weak because well-- he's Mr. BossMan Byeok. This softer side to his rough and tough personality will stick around I think. He's probably realized that nothing can tear Junghan and Jini apart and that his "love" was just desire. But, if all didn't work out with Jini, there's always Boo-young!

To me, it's obsession. He's a stalker who can't deal with rejection .

I guess you can call it that. He is obsessed with winning and "getting the prize" afterwards. So yeah, I agree with you. It's not healthy behavior for sure.

So it appears that Mr. Byeok has relly turned his life around. He tells Junghan to go to Jini to comfort her after her miscarriage. When he said it he appeared to be totally at peace. Next, he attempts to make amends with Danshim by offering to name their baby boy and taking the boy into his home! I can't help but wonder if his watching his friend Junghan suffering over the loss of his baby had anything to do with his change of heart? He was kind to Danshim and acknowledged her past pain and humiliation by telling her that he couldn't take her in because she would "wither" at his side. At first I thought that he meant that because of his wife he couldn't share his home with two women but later I thought it meant that she deserved someone who would love her. Interesting turn-around for a guy we all loved to hate! ;D

I really never disliked him. Sure he was annoying and brooding most of the time, but he seemed like a tormented soul. I think this rude awakening really caused him to look back on his life and change a few things. I am happy for the natural changes they've allowed this character to go through. Though it seems a bit suddden, there was a time lapse. It's good that they didn't make him evil to the very end.
