Victoria, welcome to the board. Hwang Jini just started in Chicago last week. Episodes 3 and 4 air this week. Please be careful about providing info from future episodes. As bae stated, it might be minor but it's still a spoiler. I left your question in though.
Bae, I also had to do a minor edit to your post.

Actually this is about episode 3 last night, sorry, but did anyone else see the 2 cutaways that looked like it was from MASH or some sort of medical tent with 2 doctors working on a wounded patient? It happened twice right around 8:35 for a split second or two.

Hi, Albie. I remember you. Yes, I had that exact thought last night; the guy looks like a baby and she looks like a grown woman. Ick. Also, can I just say what's the big deal about Hwang Jini's beauty? She's pretty, but not really "the beautiful one" compared with her friend, whom everyone seems to agree is not pretty. Where do they get these notions? BTW, her friend is the actress who played the star-crossed lover of the eldest brother in "Golden Apple."

I thought she looked familiar Lucy. Thanks for clearing that up and I agree with you. Jini is pretty and has a vibrant personality but her friend is really attractive if you ask me.

BTW, her friend is the actress who played the star-crossed lover of the eldest brother in "Golden Apple." Don't know if i should post this here or in the Gaedong thread from" Dae Jo Young", but the ajumma who helps Gukhwa out a lot in PIH called Jini's friend Gae-ttong today... Thought that was pretty funny since someone explained that Gae meant boy..

but it seems that the male character is very young. he looks much younger than his love interest. am i missing something? Well, regarding the characters, both Jini and Eun Ho are supposed to be in their teens. If I'm correct, I believe she's 16. My guess is he's either the same age or maybe a year older than her. However, you're right about the age of the actors. Ha Ji Won (Jini) is 27 and Jang Geun Suk (Eun Ho) is 20. Also, can I just say what's the big deal about Hwang Jini's beauty? She's pretty, but not really "the beautiful one" compared with her friend, whom everyone seems to agree is not pretty. Hwang Jini was supposedly extremely beautiful and very smart. I think they're trying to get the point across that she was so stunning, men couldn't keep their eyes off her.

My wife & i just saw episode one (but very fuzzy -- wish we had better reception!). i thought the "Baby" Jini did a great job showing the innocence & wonder of her age, which i am sure will be a stark contrast to the "behind the scenes" of the world she seeks to be a part of. (also, showing the intelligence and leadership of Jini as well) Hopefully we can see her again in flashbacks...i don't know how the story goes, but i suspect it will be pretty tragic...

If they don't show her again in flashbacks, I'd be pretty upset. I won't be able to understand how she could receive a KBS award for a role she played for One Episode...

Didn't Dame Judi Dench win an Oscar for her 8-minute performance in Elizabeth? (Or was it Shakespeare in Love?)

I won't be able to understand how she could receive a KBS award for a role she played for One Episode... hmmm I respectfully disagree with you BAE... that little girl is the reason I tuned in on Thursday. She so beautifully grasped her character and portrayed her so charmingly. Her movements, her eyes, her smile, her grace. I surely don't know what catagory she won the award for but I really believe she earned it. I so wished that a couple of more episodes would have included more about her childhood entry into the environment. She grew up much too quickly. I hope there are flasbacks as well... just like in Golden Apple and even Seoul 1945. The child actors just nailed their parts.

Ohh, don't get me wrong. I absolutely was enchanted by the young actress's performance as child Hwang Jini and SHE was also a reason why I decided to watch the show, besides Ha Ji Won. ;D The points you bring up about the actress's talents in expressing her character's passion are all true, not disagreeing with you AT ALL. It's a problem with me, leaving thoughts quite incomplete... I guess my preference for the young girl who played Solmi in Invisible Man Choi Jangsoo overran my thoughts about little Jini's role... To me, the child actress playing Solmi moved me a bit more than Jini because she was featured in a lot more episodes, enough to see her various acting abilities. What I guess I was saying was that the actress playing Jini should've been featured more in order to pass judgment on her getting an award... I guess I worded my thoughts wrong and left some incomplete. But it's not really about who got the award, I realize. The girl playing Jini is extremely talented, hands down.

Thank you Bae ... well stated. I surely understand your point better. Those little children who are a part of the entire drama would seem to be the more reasonable winner of an award. I did start watching " Invisibe ...." and thought the little actresses were very good... again, portraying their parts so perfectly. And the little girls in the Chill Sisters... they're also very good... but not as good as others. This is such a user-friendly board ... thanks to members like you.
