I knew it was trouble as soon as I saw an even number on a Monday night, but I lost track and thought they were only skipping one ep, not three! So much for the thread with all the eps and dates and "no excuse" not to know which episode we're on. The worst part is we have no idea who Li Kaigu is keeping an eye out for… WHICH eye? The good one or bad one? Hahahahahahaha!

I really thought that senility was starting to set in, but I now realize that is the the station and not me. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and if you taped Tuesday's episode it was #124. Some of you may not have seen it yet so I won't give you any hints but I was somewhat confused again. Is there anyway to get summaries of 121-123? Thanks.

They showed episode 118 last night (Dec 25), not 124, so it looks like we may be back on track. So far, we are only missing episode 117.
Phew! Because with missing three episodes, it really looked to me like they had shown them last week Wed-Fri and just hadn't told anyone about the switch, but now I'm hoping it was just a one time mistake, playing 120 instead of 117. One missed episode I can live with, three was really confusing. Especially given the dramatic physical change in one of the characters!

What I want to know is how DJY managed to avoid a fight with Muchuo (sp) the Turk? Last thing I saw was Geom asking DJY to save his father, after the talk between Muchuo and DJY had ended with anger on both sides. Spoiler thread doesn't say how a fight was avoided -- can anyone tell me? Thanks! Jo

Well, since we got #118 Tuesday--which is when we expected it--it looks like #120 and #117 may have gotten mixed up somehow at the station. So hopefully next week they'll show us #117 and #119, in whatever order (I don't know which would be less confusing).
But I have to say, and without giving out any details, I thought #118 was just ridiculous. No way DJY would have did what he did. Completely incongruous with everything that's happened in recent episodes. Pretty clear that they're really, really stretching for material to fill those extra 36 episodes.

The problem is that my VCR didn't tape episode #118. So please give details! Specifically, how did DJY avoid the fight with the Turks? What did he do that you found so ridiculous? There is no real information about episode #118 on the spoiler thread. Thanks! Jo

jo, we don't know how DJY avoided the fight, because that would have been in #117, the one that was skipped. The cliffhanger for #116 was DJY and Muchuo butting heads with the Turks and the "Tangs" surrounded in the fort. So it would have been resolved in #117.
I certainly will elaborate on #118 for you, but I'll do it after next week's episodes air (and we can see which ones they are and what's in them).
Welcome to the forum, by the way.

So the last episode we had seen was 117. Then we see episode 120 on Christmas Eve, and then we are showed 118 on Tuesday. What's next? 115 and then 119? There is no way I can keep track of "what happened last time". And forget about puting "coal in someone's stocking". How about a fat, fresh willow switch? I'm in the mood to use it on someone.

Jo, sorry to not post a response sooner. But to answer your question: Somehow in #117, the Tang and Turk armies were allowed to leave the fort they were trapped in, but Li Kaigu and his subordinates were handed over to DJY as prisoners. (Maybe that was the deal they worked out; I guess we'll never know.) So in #118, DJY has them all brought into a courtyard, surrounded by everybody, in one of those big prisoner-hearing events. He tells Kaigu that he deserves death...but will give him another chance if he swears loyalty to DJY and helps him build the new state! So Kaigu swears loyalty to save his men, seethes about it under his breath, and then later they all leave. That's about the gist of #118. After all of those episodes with DJY saying again and again that he'll kill Kaigu if he ever gets his hands on him, he lets him live and even trusts him to keep his word. THAT is why I found #118 ridiculous.
But it's done and over with now, and let's hope that the last eight weeks give us better material.

Thanks, ajk. I see why you thought #118 was ridiculous -- but remember, DJY had just found out that Geom was his son and that Li Kaigu had raised and protected him. Given how much Geom loves Li Kaigu as his father, it might make sense that DJY did not want to destroy the chance of a good relationship with Geom, his new-found son, by killing the man he still thinks of as his father.
