i think Choi Soo Jong is good, but to be honest, it's the SUPPORTING actors for me that make the difference. Choi Soo Jong seems to be wise in the productions he's in, because he's cast with some very good actors that he can play off of, and that we the audience can get to know & love.
It's kinda like Babylon5 and Deep Space 9, where the lead characters were good, but some of the supporting characters were AMAZING.

You're right JP... Without his 'brothers' and Mimosa the DJY role would be really diminished. It's all a wonderful puzzle. All the pieces fit so beautifully.

I think that it would have been a completely different show if we didn't have the brothers and Mimosa. I really like the interplay between the actors in the show.

I would love to see EMPEROR OF THE SEA. I got to see a small part of it once. I thought it was good. I saw EOTS and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it even though I found many of the characters to be very appealing, as well......In my opinion, the ending was so badly done it ruined the previous 50 or 51 episodes......

Actually i liked the ending there was some great fighting and a very tragic finale .
If they had done a historicaly acurate depiction of what happened to Jang Bogo ,or rather what happened to his island kingdom after ...than it would have sucked and been a huge let down .

The whole idea of Yeom Jang being tricked into murdering Jang Bogo....I found that completely unbelievable and uncharacteristic of Yeom Jang.....A very contrived subplot that diminished what could have been a really good ending....
Anyway, as we march forward on to the grand finale of DJY, the more convinced I am that DJY, although a capable military commander, was much better when he was not the top leader..... DJS or Master Jang would have been better suited....Man, I really miss Master Geom and General Yang Manchun.....I even miss King Bojang....Anyone but DJY as top banana....His emotional ties to Chulin and Geom are clouding his judgement to the distress of Mimosa and the other members of his inner circle.....

In real life Yeom who was a courtier did murder Jango Bo but no trickery was involved and the Island Invasion that followed Bo's death never happened ,i forget the name of the Island Kingdom but i found it funny that no one cared about Bo's death ,Yeom did take it over but made a mess of things and the inhabitants just up and split to places new .
Anway this general apathy over Bo's demise may indicate he was not so popular, he did invite his own death by trying to marry his daughter into the royal family .

I think it was in Soompi that someone posted something to the effect that Yeom Jang (Yeom Moon) was nothing more than a fictional character created for this drama....
