Tink, even if I had walked back from China I could have returned to the board sooner. I've been remiss. Good to hear from you though, albeit in the wake of another great series conclusion. I don't know Tink. Hongpei's one redeeming quality seems to be his loyalty. Granted, that goes a long way with some folks (me for one). WELCOME BACK SEVEN STARSYou've been gone awhile. Did you walk back from China? I agree, Hongpei was very loyal and at least before Xue Rengui died, he complimented Honpei for always being at his side.

Sorry jojo. I had an aunt die and although it wasn't a total surprise, it's still depressing. EPISODES #133 & 134 Li Wen had to be so humiliated to have to beg for forgiveness. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. ;D He deserved worse for all his treachery. Imagine how furious Emperor Wu must have been to have to send diplomatic envoys. "I can't allow my people to suffer in the treachery of war." What could she say? Certainly not admit defeat. Gulsabiwu said to Geom that everyone knows now, why don't you go to DJY, he's waiting for you to come to him. Wow, Biwu really wanted Geom to be in line for the throne. According to the show, Geom would have been the most qualified. I figured he ride off into the sunset. He was way too popular to kill off and he couldn't be the next king because he's a fictional character. I'd like to know why they let Mogae live, let alone be by Geom's side? He was a traitor to his own people the Khitans and the Gogoryeoans. He was loyal to Li Kaigu and was responsible for countless deaths on both sides. I was glad to see Xue Rengui voice his appreciation to Honpei. He took so much abuse and still remained loyal. I had a soft spot for him even though he was the enemy.

7S,
#1 Mimosa was a fictional character.
#2 Geom was also a fictional character and none of DJY's real son's were portrayed in the drama. Many of the main characters were fictional.
#3 Yes, yes and yes. They were heavy handed on the deaths of the "good guys and girls" and much was predictable.
#4 I agree. According to Korean, Chinese, Russian and Japanese records, there is conflicting information about the kingdom of Balhae concerning the origins or ethnic groups residing there, who was the vassal state etc.. The drama wanted to set the record straight so to speak.
#5 Although MIND's schedule is not updated, they still list DJY for this weekend, it should be The Great King Sejong. We shall see.
I was glad that they at least finished the drama with some actual history. Unfortunately most of the show was fiction.

Thanks ajk. I would love to be watching the same episode as all of you in Chicago. I've read some of the posts in GKS and have been anxiously waiting to see it. It sounds very intriguing.

jojo and seven stars,Thank you both. I'm looking forward to discussing the next drama with you. Let's hope WYBE doesn't let us down. In the past they started showing previews for the upcoming drama when the current one was nearing the end. I haven't seen anything yet which makes me a little nervous. 7S, Just love your new avatar!

Thanks Tink, I thought you would like it. You two are worrying me now. Is there a real possibility that we won't have another historical K-Drama to watch this week? In 2002 WYBE did not have an immediate replacement for EWG (aka: the greatest historical K-Drama of all time). In that event, they replayed the entire series.... all 200 episodes of it. The decision to replay EWG is probably the single reason we're behind the rest of the country (except for New York). Having said that, maybe we'll get a re-run. Who knows .

I'm pretty sure The Great King Sejong will be next. I don't want a re-run unless it's something really good that we haven't seen in awhile. Let's be positive.

I'm with you in hoping for Sejong. But if the alternative is nothing I'd be happy to watch a rerun as well.

Yeah, you guys will like GKS because quality-wise it's right up there with IYSS, in the sense that the acting and storylines are top-notch and you don't have any of the absurd plot twists or frustrating "unfinished business," as you rightly called it, like we saw in DJY. (Speaking of unfinished business, how about that whole poisoning sequence? What a great twist that was, and then they never resolved it. Unbelievable.) It's not quite as compelling as IYSS or DJY, just because you don't have armies fighting for the survival of a nation. So it doesn't get the adrenaline flowing as much. It's more of a "Masterpiece Theater" kind of series. And it can get VERY complicated. But it's well worth watching.
By the way, I gave WYBE a call yesterday, just to see if I needed to start a Philadelphia GKS thread for you guys. They don't even answer their phone calls. It's, We can't respond to every phone call and e-mail, but leave a message at the beep. Sheesh, what is the story with that? Anyway, I'll start a thread for you all and we can cross our fingers and hope you get to use it. If not, I'll just delete it.

That was very nice of you ajk. We appreciate your effort. It's pretty much the same if you try to e-mail them. No response.
I'm looking forward to seeing GKS. I watched the beginning online without subs and it was still very interesting. I love the warrior dramas, but I can also get into intrigue and mind challenging dramas as well. So we can actually learn some history from this drama. Great!
You know for awhile after that poisoning incident, I still wondered who did it and thought we would eventually find out. We didn't and it was another storyline that went nowhere. In the end, Chulin asked Li Kaigu to drink the poison along with her and stated that she has been carrying it around for a long time. Hmm...I thought before she died she might confess that she was the one who poisoned DJY, but alas nothing. Besides that I can't believe she "loved" Kaigu and wanted to die with him to be together. Her son and her people all of a sudden meant nothing to her? Very strange.

Which poisoning incident?! Sorry, couldn't resist; there were a number of poisonings. The ending episodes (after Khan was killed) remind me of some American TV shows, like The X Files, where the shows were successful but then got bogged down in plot quagmires. Wybe doesn't strike me as a well run organization. Yes, it may be impossible to answer phone calls and emails, so why not make an announcement before/after DJY stating what's coming up next? The result would be large audience informed with a minimum of effort. The audience would appreciate it as well.
