I thought the same thing about Chulin’s actions towards the assassins. Geom should have persued them. If they followed SH’s orders this time, what’s to stop them from doing so again? Yang X was really laying into LK, wasn't he! (and that's the end of that!) Ep 122 Good scenes with Geom and Li Kaigu in his camp. They just can’t see eye to eye. When LK said that they must both fight without regrets I had my own flashback to when they were sparring with wooden sticks and LK started hallucinating that he was fighting DJY. IMO: LK is little man who lets his personal feelings get in the way; Geom is the greater leader who sees the big picture of caring for the Khitans and their future. Nice to see some scenes with Biwu and Geumlan! Loved Xue Rengui’s line: I should have known he was crazy when he poked his own eye out. Made me laugh! ;D I am also curious to see if Geom and LK will face each other in battle. I have a sneaking suspicion that DJY will show up to spare Geom. And let’s not forget about Li Wen, who seems to be getting back to his old dastardly self.

EPISODE # 122 They just can’t see eye to eye. Good one jojo. ;D At first I thought "Oh no, not another eye poking scene"! I had a hard time understanding how that whole situation with General Yang X happened. Li Wen wants to go after DJY too, but allowing Li Kaigu to kill the Tang commanders and soldiers puzzled me. Why did they stand by and not stop him? Where is the loyalty to your own men? Li Wen should have been furious that Kaigu drugged him and then took over the camp. LW and the Tang soldiers should have killed LK for mutiny and pursued the Goguryeoans. Earlier they were plotting to kill Li Kaigu and his men. I agree Geom is the bigger man. Li Kaigu has lost perspective (no pun intended) and is driven by hatred. Geom truly cares for the people. I thought the same thing about that previous scene with LK hallucinating that Geom was DJY. If LK and Geom do wind up fighting each other, will LK see DJY's face again? I think Geom would have a hard time killing his "father", but Kaigu would do it in an instant. He may regret doing it but he'd convince himself it was necessary. I laughed at Xue Rengui's comment too, but we knew he was crazy long before the eye poking. The scene with Biwu and Geumlan was very sweet. Nice to see their feelings growing for one another.

Good point on Li Wen. He could have easily killed LK and the mutineers, and either returned to Chang'an with LK's head or went after DJY himself. I'm sure the Emporer would have been happy to receive LK's head, especially after the loss of her most trusted advisor. (I was a little disappointed at how easily Yang X succumbed to LK's trickery.) I'm going to be out of town for the next 4 episodes, so I won't be able to post anything until I return. (though I may check in, at the risk of being spoiled, when I can)

Li Wen is no fan of Yang Xaotai(think that's his name). It's politically advantageous for him and Xue Rengui to get rid of him.
Li Kaigu is an interesting character. He really does care about Chulin and Geom. At heart he's a good man who just wants to have a loving family. He has a weak ego but was able to keep from being wildly insecure because he is a great general, but Dae Joyoung challenges that by being a far greater general. Even more than that, he is the one who Chulin really loves, and is Geom's real father. Li Kaigu is insanely jealous of Joyoung, but not because of any kind of thirst for power or anything, just because he wants to have his family and feels Joyoung is standing in the way of that. After last episode, Li Kaigu does realize that Joyoung doesn't want to steal his wife or Geom, but at this point Kaigu has so much invested into the rivalry with Joyoung that he can't stop. The situation is too complex and he can't deal with it anymore, so he's just pushed everything aside and all he now focuses on is that he has to kill Joyoung, even though he now knows that everything he thought would be gained by killing Joyoung will be lost, but he's given too much of himself to the rivalry, realizes he's heading for a tragic end, but just needs to take Joyoung with him.
Oh, logged on originally for some EPISODE NUMBERING QUESTIONS: What was the number of the episode where Bu Kiwon got killed, and the episode number where the Khitans and Joyoung defeated Tang and Jungsang let Xue Rengui go. TNX

Thanks tim69 for the link. I've left my two cents there and feedback at www.wybe.org/. I'm trying to think of ways to let other fans know about your link. After years of being a loyal viewer, this is olike a stab in the back. I am so DONE with WYBE!

I really don't think there has ever been a more lovable character in all of media than Heuk Sudol. SAD STUFF. I was legitimately sad during the flashback scenes.
His speech about growing up on the battle field was great, as was Xue Jitou staying behind and saluting him.
Getting rid of Sudol and Gaepil I think is mostly to get rid of all the comic relief and really make the end of the series very serious. THE JOKES ARE OVER, and Joyoung and Kaigu's fated rivalry is about to come to a head, like.

He was the most lovable character. Also, he was the only one who openly showed affection. He was always trying to hug and kiss his wife Auhong and would say nice things to her. They were a cute couple. If your theory is right about the comic relief, then Tungso must be next.

EPISODE #123 BTW, have you noticed that you can see Li Kaigu's eye under that patch? Very funny! ;D Li Wen's man was right, Li Kaigu is a raving madman! What a terrible situation, "father" and son face to face on the battlefield. I was glad Geom's bodyguard and the two Khitan soldiers got in between them so they wouldn't have to fight each other. Geom escapes just to run into Li Wen. I thought for sure LW killed Geom. LK just stood there and watched in shock, but never yelled STOP!.....and Shin Hong smirking as Li Wen cut Geom down! Good thing the Khitans had the decency to carry him back to their camp and try to save his life. Kaigu thought Geom was calling out "father" to him but it was DJY he was calling to. I'm sure he was livid. I'm so surprised Li Kaigu let Geom go. I was equally surprised that Shin Hong didn't send some men behind LK's back to follow Geom and kill him. He always seems to take matters into his own hands (eg.- killing the Khan). I wonder if Shin Hong eats lemons. I can't stand to even look at his sneering face. Where did DJY and Co. get all those uniforms and helmets to make those scarecrow dummies? Good line from Geom to Li Kaigu.... "I can't stand to watch your wrong doings any longer, so just kill me". Everything is pointing to the possibility that Heuk Sudol is going to die. All the dialog between him, Auhong, DJY, Biwu, Gaepil, etc.. Sad.
