Can't wait to see XR's interaction with Muchuo!
BTW, it seems to me that DJY wouldn't likely have been willing to harbor LK at this point even if Kaigu had been willing to bow to him.

Hey seven stars! Glad you're back. It should be very interesting to see what happens between Xue Rengui and Muchuo. I'm sure there will be fireworks. I agree, and if I were DJY I wouldn't either. Never in a million years would Kaigu bow to him anyway. He'd rather die a slow, painful death.

Glad to be back Tink!
It seems that the enmity between DJY and Kaigu has reached a boiling point largely because of the shift in DJY's demeanor.

DJY's demeanor has taken a shift, hasn't it? Before the last LK attack, he was always concilliatory, even if it was just to protect the refugees. I think the tougher stance is a good idea with the alliance dead and with the Khitans openly out to destroy the Gorguryeans, though I wish his words with Geom weren't so harsh. Ep 115 I was hoping that Mr. Mochuo would remember that DJY got him out of the prison camp way back when, and show DJY some respect, but no, Liaodong is just another place to add to his list of conquests. Li Wen hasn't been winning many battles lately has he?! I didn't think Chulin would ever reveal the truth about Geom to DJY. Due to events she was forced to do it, though even to the last moment, she was trying to persuade DJY to help without telling him. (Though what's with Sukyoung eavesdropping?) Another weird part of this episode, was the Khitans finding an 'abandoned' fort. I can't see anyone leaving a fort abandoned. Wouldn't you dismantle it, if it's not needed? It's an open invitation for an unwanted visitor to occupy.

EPISODE #115 Lucky for them, but finding that fort was a little too convenient. Wasn't that fort across the river into Goguryeoan territory? Even if it wasn't, it was close enough that you'd think the Goguryeoans would be occupying it for defensive purposes. It's sad it took a crisis but I think Sun Wanrong redeemed himself at the end. He shook everybody up by shouting "DJY and his army are coming, so hang in there". I wonder if he truly believed that would happen? Even if DJY doesn't come, it had a psychological effect on both sides. It's a shame they killed him. He probably would have been a much better leader after all this. He realized his mistakes and admitted them. Muchuo doesn't have any gratitude towards anyone. He'd kill his own brother to get what he wanted. Even Xue Rengui, Li Wen, Hongpei and their men were disgusted and shocked at Muchuo throwing his axe into SW's back. I didn't find it too strange that Sukyoung was eavesdropping. The Goguryeoans were keeping an eye on all the Khitans. Geumlan was watching Geom and had him followed. After what happened I don't blame them for feeling on guard. Chulin finally had to drop the bomb. What I find a bit unbelievable was the fact that DJY believed her that Geom was his son. She begged for help and when he wouldn't budge, she brings up Geom. DJS said "Geom was Khitan through and through". I know what he meant, but Geom is half Goguryeoan AND Li Kaigu is Goguryeoan too. We tend to forget that. Apparently so did he. I still feel bad for Geom. I understand why he went to LK, "the father who raised him", but it's a shame he even had to make that decision. That scene with Geom, his friend/ bodyguard and the other guy getting into the fort surrounded by the Tang and Turks was far-fetched. Three men undetected coming out of nowhere, fighting off the enemy and getting into the fort. The doors were open and closed so fast that none of the enemy was able to get in.

Yes! Sun Wanrong finally redeems himself. That was an excellent line about DJY coming. Sorry to see him die in such an awful manner. Really demonstrates Muchuo's pathetic character. I think I like him even less than SH. I feel bad for Geom too. It seems like he has made up his mind when he told LK that he will always remain by LK's side, but maybe he's just feeling bad for LK because of the situation. If LK does something totally dishonorable, maybe Geom will change his mind. (I didn't know LK was a Goguyeoan!!!! sheesh!) Can't wait to see how DJY, Sukyoung & his generals handle the news about Geom!! Maybe Chulin will try to wiggle herself out of it by saying she was only trying to get DJY to fight. Looks like he will have to fight the Turks anyway.

I agree jojo. Muchuo truly fits the title "barbarian". Not honorable at all. Is that any way to execute a king? Even the Emperor of Tang didn't do that to King Bojang. Actually it was quite stupid too. The Khitans' morale was low and even LK was down, so what do you think killing their king right in front of them in such a degrading manner is going to do to the Khitans? Make them want to surrender? Not now, Muchuo just gave them a very motivating reason not to. They are going to want revenge for Sun Wanrong. He was a decent guy and it's a shame he ever listened to Shin Hong. He'd be alive and they probably wouldn't be in the predicament they are in now. He didn't get much time to prove himself, but he made up for it in the end. Very brave.

I usually post on the NY spoiler thread but we are in drag mode over there now. (And in the NY episodes, too.)
I'm so glad I can jump ahead a few to Phillie and I like where the story goes. Too bad about Wanrong and hooray for Chulin finally spilling the beans. You say he believed it right away, Tink (or should I say Emperor Tink?) no questions asked. Did he have any other reaction? And I can't believe what a snake Muchuo turns out to be. I thought he was simpatico with DJY. DOes he get his in the end??
I could check out VEOH but I like to get my info from this board.

EPISODE #116 Thanks puppy. Chulin had no other choice. She tried everything to convince DJY and couldn't persuade him, so she had to tell him the truth otherwise there wasn't any hope at all. DJY was shocked hearing the news about Geom but he believed it no questions asked. I don't know if Muchuo gets "axed" or not. Muchuo might be running a close second to Shin Hong in the snake department. He meets with DJY and mentions that they were friends when they were prisoners at Mt. Guifu. What a joke! After trying to kill DJY while they were there, he only joined him because he wanted to get out of there. Since then he's been loyal only to himself. I commented many episodes back what an ingrate Muchuo was. Zhao ( man with scars on his face ) is also a Turk but he seems to have learned his lesson when it comes to alliances with Tang. Zhao says Tang has forsaken them, and he’d rather die with warrior honor than beg for his life. Unfortunately his men felt differently and opened the gate to the fort. Now Xue Rengui takes over the fort and winds up in the same predicament as the Khitans. DJY and Co. burn the Turks food supply so they will be inside the fort starving too. BTW, XR has been quite feisty lately. It was funny that he beat Muchuo to the punch by entering the fort first. Geom should not trust Muchuo when he said he'd spare the lives of the Khitans if Geom gets DJY to withdraw their troops. The first thing he wanted to do was kill all the prisoners and if it weren't for Xue Rengui stopping him, they'd be dead. I admired Sukyoung's reaction to the news of Geom being DJY's son. He wasn't going to attempt a rescue at that time and Sukyoung advised him to go. "You can't turn your back on your own blood or you'll regret it later".

I was impressed with Sukyoung's reaction too. I liked DJY's response too. Previous to this scene, I was impressed that Chulin opened up a little to DJY by saying how painful it was for her to raise Geom, always seeing his resemblance to DJY. Whatever that means, is anyone's guess: painful because she is either a) still in love with him, or b) hates him! I won't hazard a guess since I missed the first 55 episodes. It was eerie when SH was talking to LK and Geom about DJY coming, not just to get the Turks, but to rescue them. LK looked over at Geom, probably wondering if DJY knows about Geom; and Geom looking back at LK probably thinking about DJY being his father. Egads! And then at the end, DJY looking at Geom, but neither of them knowing that they both know the truth!! Double egads!!! I'm a little confused with what's going on with the Turk army. The Gorguryeoans say they're up against high odds with them, but the Turk soldiers outside the fort have been dessimated, so there's only the remaining soldiers inside the fort. Must be an immense number, and without food. Yes, Geom should not trust Muchuo, in fact, no one should. He has no honor whatsoever. Wouldn't it would be nice if the Tang and Turks started fighting with each other inside the fort? ;D

Ep 117 Joyoung is in a no-win suituation, causing him to loose his usual decisiveness: Geom is his son. Geom is begging for DJY to save LK. LK is DJY's worst enemy. If he doesn't save LK, he will loose Geom. On top of all that DJY must put the interests of the new state first. [insert XR 'I'm disgusted' vocalization] Geom seems to have picked up LK's hardheadness streak; no matter what LK does or utters (like the audacity to say that DJY caused the downfall of Yingzhou, not LK's foolishness!) Geom is sticking by LK. Interesting that DJY's generals have taken matters into their own hands, with Sukyoung's support. Last time they did that, it turned into a disaster. Does anyone know what the 'warrior's wish' is? I believe Biwu said that when he brought out Geom at the fort gate, when the Turks were going to execute the Khitans. (G' morning tinkerbell! )

forgot this: The sound has been weird a couple of times in this episode and a few others, like they're in a metal tunnel. Anyone else picking this up or do I need an ear exam?

jojo, here in Chicago we never even saw #117, supposedly because there was some kind of quality problem with the episode tape. Something apparently got messed up in the transmission. And I seem to recall hearing that there were problems with that episode in other cities too. So if you're noticing quality issues in #117 and other recent ones, it almost definitely isn't you. I don't recall any other problems after #120, though, so hopefully you'll be okay from here on in.
