Well, it hadn't happened in quite a while, but yesterday (84) DJY was out in the wilderness and ran into Chulin. I think that makes 277 times so far. What is the deal with that? Maybe there's an enormous gravitational mass in those woods that attracts everybody and everything to the same spot. Maybe the shooting star that signaled DJY's imperial energy back in #4 was really a neutron star and part of it fell into the woods and is curving spacetime. (That would explain the selective aging, too.) Other than that I got nothin'. Anybody else have an explanation for it?
And then he tells her, "You haven't changed at all." Had to laugh.
Actually it will be interesting to see how they deal with their past now that they're both on the same side of things. You could see when they looked at each other (not really with passion but like a lot of memories came flooding back) that they haven't exactly forgotten each other. And the paternity thing, I don't know when that bomb will go off but it's been fun knowing the truth and watching DJY and everybody else who doesn't know it deal with the kid (and watching Gulsabiwu's conniptions).

Maybe DJY has some kind of GPS device hidden in Chulin's mass of hair. . .nah. . .yours theory makes more sense. Remember when Chulin sprained her ankle? When she was surrounded by Tang soldiers there was a head-to-foot shot of her, and she was putting her full weight on that foot. Ouch---that was unbelievable. And just a moment ago she could barely move it without yelping---wow. (Maybe a little of the imperial energy has rubbed off on her. . . . . . )Do you think that (in next week's episode) Gulsabiwu will spill the beans after all this time? Or will someone come running in, screaming "CHONG-OOOOOON!!!!" ("General!!!!") Then everyone will forget about the whole thing and not say anything about the child-thing for another 20+ years. Brilliant.

It's Namseng… he wants his father's flag back!!" Or Gulsa can whisper to DJ that he and Chulin have a little "thing" going on, and he's apparently a bad breaker upper. ;D

The Three-Legged Raven flag is not a flag of Yeon Gae So Moon. It has been established as Koguryo's national symbol for over 900 years. In fact, if you watch the MBC history drama, Jumong, you'll see Jumong, the first King of Koguryo, using the Three-Legged Raven flag.

The three legged black bird has been one of symbols of Korea for thousands of years, however, as far as I know there isn't any evidence that Koguryeo used the symbol as a military mark. The refined and artistic figure of the three legged black bird was created by Koguryeo but it just appeared during AD4~5 according to the gold bronze crown. I doubt that Jumong had it on his splenedid armour in real history. Using it military mark in Koguryeo drama seems just invented. Three legged black bird on a Golden-Bronze crown Three black bird on a Koguryeo tomb mural. Little more information about the figures on armour of Koguryeo supreme generals in the drama. Yang Man-Choon has BongWang, mythical bird which Korea has revived as a presidential symbol today. Dae Jo-young has Hyun-Moo, mythical animal of tuttle + snake.

Thanks for sharing the info and photos, cheonson. I't's tough to find that stuff on English-language websites so I appreciate your digging it up. I don't really remember Yang Manchun using a bird symbol in the series; it's interesting that he had one in real life. I'm surprised they didn't use it prominently in the series, not just because it would have looked great but if it's now a presidential symbol then it would have meaning to today's Korean viewers.
We'll have to watch and see if DJY starts using the Hyun-Moo symbol before the series ends.

So---good old Gulsabiwu zipped his lips yet again. Is anyone else beginning to find this whole thing irritable? 'Biwu---just tell DJY already. The viewers are getting impatient.

They should tell his grandfather too, but maybe it's better that they respect each other as strangers first. Sheesh, after the way Li Kaigu came in and bullied and bossed around his FIL and trashed his son's deal, Geom may be relieved to have the honorable DJY as his father.

Observations: Don't any of those people see the strong resemblance of Goem to DJY? I thought sure that Grandpa DJS recognized him. Is Goem's real father ever revealed?
Also, do we know who Goem's "sidekick" is? I think he bears a remarkable resemblance to Gulsabiwu. Has there been any hint as to a possible offspring of Biwu's?

Thanks, cheonson--those are great! I sure did not remember seeing that Bongwhang symbol displayed around Yang Manchun in the series, shame on me. It does make a good presidential symbol, especially with the pair of them.
The photos of the tomb art are remarkable. Not just because so much effort went into decorating those tombs, but it also gives something from history to compare to the series.
