[shadow=gray,left,300](I couldn't remember the epi. number... would one of you moderators fix it for me? ) -- FIZED . Cool Shadow effect, BTW. [/shadow]So the Khitan Khan has finally put his foot down---or so it seems. It looks like he's seriously thinking about putting Li Wen and the big mucky-muck politician ruling Yingzou (sp?) out of commission for good! ;D ;D And I know that I'm not the only one who is heartily sick of Li Wen walking around alive and well. I'm giving these guys just a few more episodes to kill him, and if they don't, I swear I'll kill him myself! Charles Dickens puts it best: "He would make a lovely corpse."

Yeah, the idea that he even survived the twelve years that they skipped through, much less retained his power...evolution says guys like him are supposed to fall down holes and die. Enough with him. You want to take a run at him, Nalbal, I'll cover you.
But other than that, I enjoyed Monday's episode (83) a lot. Plenty of interesting stuff, especially the Khan being torn between rebellion and enduring it all for the sake of future generations. And it's hilarious that Heuk Sedol ("Hey, I may not look it, but I'm a strategist!") actually married Auhong. The other thing that made me laugh was Zhao Wenhui trying to get his taxes collected: "All I care about is the outcome. Just meet your quota by the end of the month!" For a minute there I thought I was watching the Enron documentary. That's just about word for word what those idiot Enron executives told their employees. Funny to think of that kind of short-sighted stupidity as being timeless.

Hmmm..i sometimes feel like the Historical Dramas do pull a lot from modern times...did they really care that much about the "WIll of the People" or "public opinion" back then? So it might not be a stretch about Enron (or some of Korea's companies)....it'd be great to know for sure.
Also, it seems like soooo much has transpired that i would have liked to see. If they are going for 130 episodes, it seems strange they would skip that much time.
Would've been nice to see Heuk Sudul get married, and see Galsibuwu's expression! At least the actor's character got married (despite no kiss)...better than what happend to Park Sulhee in Emperor Wang Guhn!
As for Li Wen.... I guess they need some kind of established villain until they can either introduce someone new or have Li Kaigu & Dae JoYoung square off (liek earlier narration said)
The 12 years has me shocked that (if they followed real history) there should've have been a couple of deaths (major characters) that would've had a more dramatic reason for the silence DJY has been in for such a long time.

If ordinary cats are said to have 9 lives, what kind of cat is Li Wen? But remember, he himself doesn't do much actual fighting -- he mostly makes those faces, stares, glares and spits out orders to his underlings - and they are the ones getting killed as he looks on. I did see 1 scene where he was in actual combat or was I hallucinating? enough of him already - as the Red Queen screams [glow=red,2,300]..."OFF WITH HIS HEAD"[/glow]

Rather he uses his energy to make snarly faces which doesn't allow for much stress ... which explains why in 12 years he hasn't aged a day, nor have his pals. Neither has Chulin or the Emporer(ess?) Li Kaigu and General Xue have aged ... and that's a good thing. And yes, Nabal, Li Wen would indeed make a lovely corpse.

I liked that episode, I can remember shouting "O YEAH". What a great TV show.

Well, since no one else mentioned it, it must have been my TV, cuz last night's (83) broadcast seemed way too dark to me, even the daylight scenes were muted. I've seen other shows start out like this, but usually they kick in after a few minutes and are bright again. Odd with the timing of the eclipse and all. But I digress. No one has mentioned Gulsa's "new Look"… his trademark braids are gone. He looks a little like DJS with that new haircut, Hauk probably had to get his hair cut or Aehong wouldn't "help him out" as it were. I get a little frustrated with these Khitans. Here I thought they were about to get some long deserved restitution (and take out Li Wen) and they couldn't get that right either. Now they have to get their legs pried apart through torture which apparently makes all their mouths bleed. Hard to watch that so many times, but hey, it was the 7th Century. Speaking of which, I was glad to see DJ and his men finally enter the 7th Century in tonight's (84) episode when lo and behold they used ARROWS!! to save Geom and Chulin. I guess they learned something in the 10 years they've been in hiding. About time. Tonight's ep was all good. Only thing I would like to have seen (in a flashback) was Xue Rengui presented with his retirement *gold* feather duster.

I would have liked to see Heuk Sedol's wedding too. The two of them make such a strange couple, but it's very entertaining. Wish they'd show us more (but they're not even showing Sukyoung with DJY much so don't hold your breath).
But of all of the things they've skipped through, one thing that seems to me to very much need an explanation is DJY's use of Yeon Gaesomun's three-legged raven flag. Does he really have the right to just appropriate it for himself? That's not a state symbol, after all; it belonged to YGSM. Shouldn't Namseng or Namgeon (or the invisible Namsan) have dibs on it, or grant him permission to use it? That would have been a GREAT scene--bring back Namseng and have DJY go to him for it. Flashbacks, emotion, the whole nine yards. It would be nice if we got an explanation in a future episode.

And if you thought copyright violations were bad today -- think about way back when they didn't even have copyright laws that could be enforced! Ok...ajk, you're right...it would be nice to see how these things are tied in (i.e. YGSM's symbol )-- did they use it in real history? With the messed up history as it is, i'm sure the show can add some drama/plot twist as to why it's being used now

Bear with me and this large post, guys. . . wanted to catch up. . . . . . . . .Neither has Chulin or the Emporer(ess?) Li Kaigu and General Xue have aged ... and that's a good thing. Yes! In fact, it seems that Xue has aged more than any of the main characters (with the exception of DJY, maybe). But 12 years have past and all Kaigu has to show for it is a mustache?? And Chulin, as you said kathleen, has not aged at all---she'd be able to pull off being Geom's sister much better than his mother! Couldn't they have done a little make-up work to make her look a little older? The sure did that for DJY with no problem. . . . . . . I was glad to see DJ and his men finally enter the 7th Century in tonight's (84) episode when lo and behold they used ARROWS!! to save Geom and Chulin. I guess they learned something in the 10 years they've been in hiding. About time. LOL. And I think Geom asked a question that is the understatement of the century, or at least of the series: "Mother, do you know this man?" But of all of the things they've skipped through, one thing that seems to me to very much need an explanation is DJY's use of Yeon Gaesomun's three-legged raven flag. Does he really have the right to just appropriate it for himself? That's not a state symbol, after all; it belonged to YGSM. . . . . You know, the same thought crossed my mind. In a way it was like DJY was carrying on the legacy, but still---I thought the sign of "The Three-Legged Raven" was sort of a family symbol. But then again, the family seems to have disappeared. Speaking of which. . .where has good ol' Namseng disappeared to? Has fallen off the face of the globe completely?

Xue looked younger this episode (84)
The two that looked like they've aged most (believably) are Shin Hong and Khan of Khitan.
And if I remember right, DJY has *2* children with Sukyeong, but they're off studying in a temple somewhere.
And Namseng!!?? Where is he indeed? I keep wondering if he put himself in exile or something. He would have to have done "something" in the 12 years gone by. I like ajk's idea, but they already missed that chance.

Two possible scenaria for Namseng: (1) We see him all alone at the conference table "holding down the fort" literally, looking around and saying, "Uh...I'm still here. Is anybody there? Hello...anybody?" (2) We see him in the Tang dynasty version of a Cadillac (fancy horse, perhaps), tearing around the fort's market place with a gorgeous woman under his arm and knocking back lots of wine. He's in charge and livin' large!

The Three-Legged Raven is not a symbol of Yeon Gae So Moon. It has been a national symbol of Koguryo for over 900 years.

Thanks for the info, truth--that would certainly make it right for him to use it. Strange, because in the earlier episodes of the series when YGSM was alive, the symbol was very much portrayed as his own. He's the only one who used it, and it was always recognized by the other characters as his and not the state's or Bojang's or anyone else's. If that's not historically accurate...well I guess it's hardly the only thing in the series that isn't, but what's the advantage to twisting that around? Ugh.

Thanks for clearing that up, Truth. Ugh. It's like the writers portrayed the "G" man as the strength of the country, or more like he respresented the country. So, it was like he was taking the symbol for himself. . .not that I'm saying that's true in history. But it is very annoying when they change too many things around. . .it's one thing when they want to make a good drama (like DJY was never in China...we've had fun with that ), but for those of us (like myself, for example) who don't know a whole lot about Korean History, it can be very confusing.
