What a guy! Feigning lunacy and even bawling in front of DJY to save his miserable hide? He always has a trick up his sleeve, but I never dreamed that he would degrade himself so far as to act as if he's "finally lost his marbles," as Rengui said. It was really sick, watching him appeal to DJY's merciful side. I could hardly stand it. But it looks like the weasil has it coming! It seems that DJY has made it clear that Kiwon's days are numbered. Probably, by the end of Monday's episode, DJY will have another big red "X" on his hit list. But "goo-goo" is going to be riding with Bu when he goes back to Tang--I wonder what will happen when DJY sees his old love ......

I couldn't believe it when DJY didn't kill him. That awful horrible sneaky scheming selfish greedy snake deserves to die. Too bad DJY's brothers didn't kill him quickly before he could stop them.

Well, i am honestly glad that his insanity is an act...the jump into insanity seemed too sudden. Even in a drama like "Chang Nok Soo", which built a case for the insanity, te actual "break" seemed sudden. we all agree he's a bad guy (especially now), but early on, he had some legitimate points..i plan on starting a thread "In Defense of Bu Kiwon"...

Actually, ginnycat, it's the old thing about it being better to wound an enemy soldier than kill one, because a dead body doesn't require the intense care and attention of a wounded soldier to drain the enemy's resources. Having a crazy person running around causing so much disruption in the compound can't hurt from the League's point of view. But you're right, I'm surprised that G or HS didn't just get fed up and finish him right there.
And yes, it does sound like they're setting up another one of those DJY/Chulin look-who-I-ran-into scenes. Oh goody I can hardly wait.
I must say, though, that the show has been quite good for the last dozen episodes or so. The storylines have been very engaging and there's been little or none of the annoying stuff that would creep up periodically earlier. Even the Chulin story has gotten better; you really have to feel for the predicament she's in. But it's getting to be time for them to move on from hiding in that brewery. That's only plausible for so long and I think they've taken it about as far as it should go. You'd think somebody--anybody--would have spotted them by now.

Throughout the story, I have admired DJY's silent, thoughtful strength, but even though I don't particularly like blood and gore, DJY's losing his cool in attacking Bu Kiwon was one of the best scenes in the entire series thus far.

The death of Bu Kiwon was indeed a beautiful thing. A quick, easy death would not have been good enough for him. When they showed the flashbacks of Bu Kiwon torturing DJY's mother I knew that he was in for a horrible death.

My bf was just starting to say he might stop watching. That is was all drama and he missed the good battle scenes on IYSS. Yesterday changed his mind. Finally Bu got what he deserved.

Well I guess that's why we have this forum! I thought it was the worst scene of the last dozen episodes at least. Watching DJY beat the guy up like a schoolyard bully, to me it was pathetic. You can certainly understand him wanting to make BK suffer, for all of the reasons in the flashback and more. But watching a young, strong warrior in peak condition attacking an old man (okay, not quite old but certainly middle-aged and doughy), over and over and over, I just found it thuggish and repulsive, regardless of how much BK deserved it.
Especially after that beautiful scene in #21 (I think it was #21) where DJY and DJS talked specifically about BK killing their wife/mom, and DJS gave such a heartfelt speech about how harboring vengeance will cripple a person from inside, and that DJY shouldn't let that happen. I was disappointed. You can't blame him for it, but I expected better. Kill the guy and be done with it, and take comfort that justice was done.
But to each his own; I'm probably alone on this. I did like him putting BK's fate in the hands of the citizens. It added some democratic justice. By the way, we didn't actually see BK's dead body, did we? Hmmm.....We saw Sa Bugu's dead body and we saw Shin Sung's dead body, but not BKs....You don't suppose....

...oh no ajk, he can't be...no! He's dead as a doornail---right? (Why, oh why didn't DY just cut off his head, just in case?) And yes, ginnycat, I couldn't believe DJY didn't just kill the rat right there. Even if Bu Kiwon was crazy (which, of course, he was not), he obviously was whole-minded enough to create trouble for the League! Also, I agree with you teacher; the scene with DJY using Bu as a punching bag was definitely great . Ok, so it was violent---but after DJY being in such pain, sorrow, and agony for so long, it was really something to see him just vent his bottled-up anger at Bu Kiwon, considering that he is such a quiet, peaceful person at heart.

I'm with ajk on this one. It was an odd scene. BKW gets slapped a whole bunch of times, he gets a crotch to the face and then is left for the people to kill him? Cut off his head and be done with it.

Then his death too swift and easy.

I agree, he tortured DJY's mother and caused huge problems that went on for a long time. Why should he have had a merciful death? The punishment should fit the crime.

i guess i'm just weird, but i actually was disgusted by DJY and how he handled Bu Kiwon.
DJY seemed petty and barbaric in his killing. (or really, the beat down -- the Korean people looked like a lunch mob)
i missed the precious few minutes when Sa Bu Gu got his, but i got the impression that he at least had an opprtunity to defend himself, and he was exposed for what he was -- a thug rather than a gallant soldier.
Bu Kiwon may have deserved his punishment, but woe to those who give it....how does it make the many better than the person they killed?
Isn't that why we're outraged at the abused at Abu Grab?
When i remember Wang Guhn or Yi Soon Shin, it seems like they had more hesitation in attacking their own countrymen, even if they deserved it. That seemed more fitting for a hero.

but I would have cut off his tongue.

Many Koreans are saying that DJY is more realistic hero than how Wang Guhn and Yi Soon Shin were pictured. Wang Guhn and Yi Soon Shin are portrayed like they're Jesus or something. Koreans were tired of the typical history drama heroes, which is why they like DJY's character.
