So as soon as the Tang general Liu shows up, the D-League butchers him and delivers half of his body to the protectorate.
Wow--talk about sending in a military detachment!

Liu Guanzhong is a fictional character named after Na Guanzhong, a Chinese writer during Ming dynasty whose famous work is 'The History of Three Empires', a novel based on real history.

The History of Three Empires do not refer to Korea's Koguryo, Baekjae, and Shilla, of course. Guanzhong's History of Three Empires are about the three Chinese empires who had fought each other to unify China into one country after the fall of Han dynasty.

Thanks, truth--I wondered whether or not there was any historical basis to that character. Sounds like one of the writers maybe slipped in a little tribute with the name.
Yeah, you could just about see the guy wetting his pants when he realized what was going on. Cracked me up.
