Mimosa's method of healing is frequently used in the chinese movie and ancient drama. If someone is badly injured or poisoned, then someone who is a martial art expert or swordman possessing great internal power (normally someone with very good swordmanship and had plenty of inner energy) would perform miracle healing.
And this is usually done without any external disturbances or the balance will be disrupted and both victim and healer will be in grave danger of dying. Again this is also fictional in all Chinese ancient dramas with no concrete proof. It only provided us with the element of fantasy and hope.
So this scene of Mimosa healing of DJY was not something new for those who had watch ancient chinese drama e.g. Condor Heroes etc..
The only fault I found is - since when Mimosa is a great master of martial art or swordplay? never seen him wielding a sword at all! but never mind I am watching it for entertainment only and because I like Choi Sujong's acting.

I found the healing scene quite comical due to Mimosa's facial expressions. Either Mimosa is really into what he's doing or he's severely constipated.

Oh, knov1, you found something funny in all the seriousness of the episode! I agree with aosy in that it provides the viewer with hope. It makes us feel like the hero can be saved and that when he does come back from the dead, he'll be kicking some major bad guy a$$.

Thanks, aosy! I'm glad he and the writers didn't just make it up. Maybe we'll see Mimosa with a sword later. btw, do the actors usually do their own sword work? The sword dances we've seen have been marvelous. The Xui Rengi actor (Lee Duk hwa?) was really athletic in Age of Warriors. And Lee Seo jin in Damo--sigh.

Yeah, thanks to truth and aosy for the good information. Actually it reminded me a little of the blood-drinking scene in #44--it was so strange that you had to think there was some precedent for it (historical or dramatic) because they wouldn't have completely created it from scratch. But knov1 said just what I was thinking, about his weird expressions and behavior. It reminded me of a couple of those TV evangelists who touch people when they're in some kind of hyperactive trance and claim they've cured lifelong ailments. And Mimosa didn't even touch him, just kind of pulled the bad stuff out through his aura. Wow, where do I send my money.

For me, the whole "Dae Jo Young on the verge of death & miracoulously healed" storyline is so contrived.
Since the show's named after him and only half way done, there's no suspense. It would be more dramatic if another character was on the verge of death (like Chulin or Heuk Sudol -- fictional, so they can go at any time).
And the mystic healing is crazy too.....it was a stretch when Jang Geum was doing modern healing techniques (like surgery), but Mimosa's healing is too much!

Sorry, Kathleen, I was only joking. All of my money is tied up in steamed bun futures.

Now Mimosa has set up his own pub! So he and the king plan to use that place as the base for the Anti-Tang movement? I don't know what their plan is, but I have one of my own: get the guys from the protectorate drunk, use their beautiful women to convince them to stay the night, and slay them in their beds.

Thanks for your informative post, Aosy. About the above sentence, though.. You may have noticed in Episode 15 and 16 that Mimosa's grandfather used to be the high priest in Baekjae. The priests and priestesses of the three Kingdom period in Korea were known also for their healing arts. The method of transferring one's "ki," or internal energy was usually used for the severely wounded or ill, when other traditional medicines would be rendered useless. So, presumably, growing up with his high priest grandfather, Mimosa would have received some learning and perhaps also inherited some inherent ability to practice these healing arts.
Hence, the healing of Dae Jo Young.. by a non-swordsman. ^^

Good idea! Now, how do we time-travel and fix it to happen? Sling-shot around the sun in our starship? Guess that would cause more troubles, but it's nice to think about. Next, Bu Kiwon needs to be trapped and...put to work breaking rocks as a slave-You don't work, you don't eat. So there. Fan fiction for Korean drama--does anyone write it?
