Just in case anyone here doesn't check the general board....KBS America just opened up an e-store that offers DVDs of single episodes of DJY and other shows, with the English subtitles, for $6 each. And we'll be able to purchase the complete series when it's finished, too. www.kbs-america.com/product/index.phpThis looks like a great new service.

Do you happen to know, ajk, if by any chance they are selling the entire "Immortal Yi Soon Shin" series? I know that parts of the IYSS series were being sold on DVD, but not all the episodes were available.

The whole thing is available for $400. Not exactly an impulse buy, but considering that KBS charged $200 for the hacked-up DVD sets that were released last year, this is a MUCH better deal. And the KBS America subtitles are much, much better than the subtitles on those sets.

Yes the eor Yi-soon shin set contains all 104+2 special episodes. It is cheap compared to say 6$x104= $624. But the only drawback is the specials. they are not subbed or dubbed

That is very strange. Both specials were aired here in the US with subtitles, so they do exist. If that's the case and the set is being sold without them, maybe it's a mistake.

Hmm? that was the information that was provided from the KBS america site. Hopefuly it is a typo on their site. Otherwise I think it was a special subbtitle done for each station perhaps?

You know what, I think I figured out what you're talking about. I do see on the "DVD List" page that they list two IYSS sets and they say "Special Features do not have English Subtitles." It looks to me like the two sets on that page are the sets already offered by KBS Korea--the hacked-up sets with the inferior subtitles. (I notice that the first set says "episodes 1-18" and the second set says "episodes 19-33," which is exactly how the hacked-up set is divided.) The set on the "EOR" page specifically says 104-plus-2-specials, and on that page it doesn't say anything about anything missing any subtitles. So I think they're two completely different products on the two different pages.
That looks like a pretty serious mistake; I hope no one gets confused and buys the wrong thing. Anyway, does that make sense? I may be wrong but that would seem to explain it.

ajk, what you say does make sense to me. The two mini box set, seems designed for people that want to focus on the war but not on the story? Or maybe for those who are just new to Yi-soon Shin. But I have a feeling, that the mini boxsets were designed poorly, due to harsh critism of the entire series. I too hope that people are not confused either. But if in doubt, lets make sure to tell everyone to buy the EOR version. Because you can buy each episode singly. Or as an entire set.
I reallly do not know what is included in the mini box sets. But If the specials are included, they may have poorly subbed titles as well?

I have the mini box sets and can tell you that there's one disk with material from the specials, along with a set of clips of the major battle scenes and some outtakes. And none of that stuff is subtitled. So I think that's it and we've figured it out. I'll add to the IYSS thread and post the info there. Good job!
I also wonder if people will buy the DJY set when it's finished. I suppose it's too early to judge.

I think I might consider buying it when it's finished. But then you are right...it's a bit early to decide. I'd better wait to see the rest of the series.
