Somebody please refresh my memory on this, but didn't the Tang empress deliver a guarantee in writing to the Khitans at Xue's request, and wasn't that the reason they decided to jump into all this in the first place? I can't remember if it specifically mentioned Yingzhou or not, but she sent something. Not that it would help them just yet (especially in pre-litigious society, right?), but I'm a little surprised it hasn't been mentioned again.
Well, at least if and when the alliance crumbles, the whole Chulin thing might turn in a little more sensible direction with the two of them not on opposite sides. Kaigu would blow a gasket, of course, but maybe that's what he needs to smack some reality into him.

They should have fought on the side of Goguryeo. Maybe they could have won some land through the spoils of war. They did the lion's share of the fighting and dying in the front lines (at least the way it's portrayed here) and they didn't get a thing. Li Jinzhong needs to dump Xue and wake up and make an alliance with Ainsi Fort and Gom Mojam before it's too late! If they did join Gorguryeo, maybe DJY and Chulin will get down to business, lol.

You may be right, Nalbal....Of course, that episode might have to be moved to the pay-per-view channel!

One of the things that i lke about Korean dramas is that they can show real love without sex. Hope i am not spoiling anyone, but in "The Great Jang Geum", you could feel real love between Jang Geum and Sir Min, and yet they never even kissed onscreen ! We'll see how this plays out...assumng it conforms to what real history says/allows for.

BUNGALOW DWELLER states that the Czech word for Germans is the same as the word for mute/dumb. This is not entirely correct. To be precise, the word for Germans is NEMCI. The word for mute/dumb is NEMY. Although they appear similar, they are not the same the same word.

I did not attempt to make it look that way! What I was trying to say is that maybe DJY would have the courage to, instead of making Goo-goo eyes at Chulin, would have the courage to ask her out to a date, lol. Maybe he could take her to some cute Gorguryeon restaurant! Again, my apologies for causing any confusion.

You weren’t, Nalbal; it didn’t really sound that way at all, I was just being silly. These shows certainly are restrained as far as displays of affection (which was my whole point). It was surprising that they even showed a DJY/Chulin kiss, especially so early on in their “relationship.”
I do wonder if occasionally they try a little too hard to avoid such things; the occasional romantic moment is natural, and they certainly have no qualms about showing lots of bloody murders and battle deaths. But for the most part it’s very refreshing and it sure would be nice if American TV would learn a thing or two from it.

ajk, BungalowDweller, you wrote my thoughts exactly. There isn't a whole lot of modern American television that I watch. I do watch older television shows on channel 23 "Me TV" (223 on cable), but apart from that, I simply don't watch American tv. I've watched a lot of hisorical and modern Korean drama's, including "Winter Love Song", "Rooftop Room Cat", "The Immortal Yi Soon Shin", and many others. I even watch gameshows/entertainment like "Sponge"! There are so many other shows that I watch, even those without subtitles, because I really feel it is worth it, and I feel like I can watch them without being afraid that there will be the porn that is typical on American tv.

Too much is never enough for me. And does anyone else wonder how Gulsabiwu can go around "in disguise" with his hair wraps in full view? He's the only character I've seen with this affectation, and I would think it's a dead giveaway. Weren't there wanted posters with his picture drawn on?

But DJY looked different with his new facial hair. He had to take off his hat and stare into the soldier's face before the guy recognized him. About Chulin, "I want to be your woman"-sigh, finally!

Nalbal, Don't worry about it all. As a moderator, i just wanted to ease the thread back on topic, rather than let it drift (possibly) another route. i have seen other boards (not the Chicago Drama Fan Club) where moderators immediately deleted posts & banned members. i don't like going there, and we definitely are not anywhere near that stage! So, anyway...going back to what you were saying about "getting down to business" (which, as far as Chulin and her choice of a man) is a very good point.) But as of Monday's episode, i don't think it's anywhere near resolved. Li Kaigu is coming back at some point. So we aren't done! p.s. if you (or anyone) sees a message thread going in a bad direction, please e-mail me at jp-chicago@koreanhistory.tv. That way i can look into it and address it appropriately (i am not always online, so i could use some help! )

I have been totally annoyed and bored in the past with the whole Chulin/DJY storyline, but I have to admit-they are pretty darn cute together, and they make a good team-I liked how she kept him from wallowing in drink and self pity!
And(this is totally shallow, but bear with me) DJY looks so much more handsome and manly with the facial hair! ;D
