So it’s a major battle with the fate of the nation at stake...DJY is on top of the walls, with lethal flaming stuff of all shapes and sizes whizzing by his head and the enemy climbing ladders at his feet. And Chulin is at the foot of the walls, with arrows, stones and boiling oil raining down all around her. And yet they both have a moment or two for some goo-goo eyes. Aww, isn’t that touching? This is yet another thing on the list of things we learn watching Korean dramas. That said, last night's episode was back in line with making this series the most exciting to watch. The run ins with DJY and Bu Kiwon were my favorite parts. Every time BK thinks he's rid of this "annoyance", there he is again to irritate him even more. Couldn't happen to a nicer weasel. I can't wait to see what happens next week.

Bu just doesn't understand that he can't mess with imperial energy! ;D The battle scenes were excellent--like those in YSS. The stunt men did an outstanding job.

I don't understand her motives at all. Why can't she just stick to one side? She's either a love-struck fair maiden or she's big, bad, and brutal Khoran chick. I mean, either way, she seems to command DJY's affection so it really doesn't matter, huh? Chulin seems to get away with anything. But yes, she's got to choose a side...one moment she's happily killing Gorguryeo soldiers with a triumphant war cry (in her case a scream), and next moment she's swooning at the sight of DJY.

Yes, and she keeps giving the cold shoulder to Li. He only put his life on the line twice to spring her from jail cells; you'd think she'd appreciate it just a little bit rather than pining for another guy right in front of him.
Actually, I'm guessing that these things are part of her secret plot to acquire Yingzhou Territory herself by driving all of the men bonkers.

I think she will soon. It looks like she's leaning towards our dear DJY though, which is a terrible waste of such a pretty princess on the side. Yes, and she keeps giving the cold shoulder to Li. He's a fantastic tactical warrior, but he knows zip about Chulin. He thinks that by showing off and trying to KILL the man that Chulin has fallen for will be what brings her over to his side. She's not that ditzy to just go, "Hey, you're real strong. I pick you!" She's quite the warrior herself and she knows that she wants DJY--- only problem is, he's the enemy. She doesn't have to be less affectionate with DJY just because Haego likes her. I mean, yeah great that he saved her life, so sweet, etc. but what it all comes down to is what she wants and saving someone's life doesn't mean you're indebted to like them back. But, the point is-- she's coming off as quite ungrateful.

It seems understandable that Chulin would not fall for Li Kaigu. Weren't they raised together? Maybe she sees him as a brother not a lover. It's obvious that he likes her but really he should have given up by now. Killing DJY will not win him the girl.

I agree; I think Chulin just looks at him as either a brother or a really close friend. I don't think she really knows how she feels about him romantically, if at all. It doesn't seem to register with Kaigu that she doesn't love him, no matter what the poor guy does. I guess he's just infuriated that she would even dare shove him aside for some young Gorguryeo guard. Or that she'd dare love anyone else but him at all .

You’re right, BAE, she’s not obligated to feel any differently about DJY because of what Li did for her. The heart wants what it wants. What I do say, though, is that she shouldn’t be pining for him right in front of Li’s face. Not just out of gratitude, but (1) out of basic human decency, and (2) because she’s in danger of being viewed as a traitor with some of her behavior.
If I risked my life (twice) to get a woman out of prison, almost got executed in the process, and even gave up a battle plan to do it, and her answer to that was to make goo-goo eyes with the enemy—not just the enemy but the very person who forced me to give up the battle plan—right in front of me, I would put a gift tag on her and take her right back to the prison I sprung her from. No matter how I felt about her. How could I trust someone like that when my people’s future is at stake? (Of course, you could say the same thing about Li for giving up a battle plan to save one woman's life. What a pair. They deserve each other.)
Nalbal, you’re right, the guy needs to wake up and move on. Bigshot warrior like him could probably have his pick of Khitan babes.
The brother thing, that’s a very good point and would explain a lot. The only reason I’m not 100% on board with it is the scene where they’ve both been captured and put in prison, and Li looks tenderly into her eyes and says, “I would die for you, Chulin.” She can’t possibly be so dense that she thinks that’s brotherly behavior. Or can she? Wonder if that snake venom messed with her brain cells a little.
Maybe this will all turn in a more satisfying direction soon. It certainly doesn’t look like the Khitans are going to be handed Yingzhou as easily as they were promised...and politics makes strange bedfellows.

That's true. She and DJY both should guard their wreckless behavior. I don't care how in love the pair are, there's boundaries. They're of warring nations for Pete's sake!

She's courageous, though! Look how she stood up to Li Wen! He better watch out who he calls wench!

And that Li Wen...he's got to be pretty dense to call Chulin a wench. She's standing amongst a group of warriors, not to mention Li Kaigu (who loves her), and he feels perfectly comfortable insulting her. Even if she is a "barbarian", isn't it rather dangerous to call her names in front of a bunch of blood-thirsty fighting machines? He's lucky he still has his head on his shoulders!

The Chinese thought anyone who is not Chinese was a barbarian. Well, so did the Koreans... The Koreans thought anyone who wasn't Korean is a barbarian. That changed beginning in Chosun dynasty when they made an alliance with Ming China. Ever since then they thought anyone who weren't Korean or Chinese were barbarians. Also, the reason Li Wen(or in Korean, Lee Min) can be so full of himself in front of those 'bloodthirsty' warriors is because the Khitans want the land of Youngju.(I don't know how the English subtitles call it) The only reason the Khitans helped Tang China in their war with Goguryeo in the first place was because the Chinese promised that they would give the land of Youngju to the Khitans when they take over Goguryeo. However, for selfish reasons, the Chinese are not keeping their promise and they are telling the Khitans to wait. Khitans, who want the land of Youngju, can't do anything harmful to the Chinese.

However, for selfish reasons, the Chinese are not keeping their promise and they are telling the Khitans to wait. Khitans, who want the land of Youngju, can't do anything harmful to the Chinese. They're not the only ones. The Czech word for German means, literally, the mute/dumb one. (A slur against the Geman language.) The English thought that the Irish were barbarians and called them such, forbidding them to speak their own language (Celtic) and even speak the name "Ireland". The Irish learned to refer to the land as "the old woman". Tribalism. That's how we all survived as people groups. Now that globalism is the new "ism" it's a challenge to keep traditional ways alive. The Khitans are really getting the shaft from the Chinese. All they want is a piece of land to call their own and they can't get it. In the English subtitles, the land is called Ying Zhou.(At least it was last night.) They should have fought on the side of Goguryeo. Maybe they could have won some land through the spoils of war. They did the lion's share of the fighting and dying in the front lines (at least the way it's portrayed here) and they didn't get a thing. Li Jinzhong needs to dump Xue and wake up and make an alliance with Ainsi Fort and Gom Mojam before it's too late!
