The day will come when Gulsabiwu will want to lay down his life to save her. Are you being serious or funny? Because I took it to have a humorous connotation. Gulsa fighting FOR Chulin? That would be something I'd like to see!

Did the princess really exist in real life? Her uncle, the emperor was a puppet ruler. Why would he need her advice or views when his matter so little? I don't think she did, but for now, I would just like to concentrate on what the show tells us about these people-- whether they were created out of thin air or whether they're real as history tells it. It's too confusing to try and make sense of their lives from a history perspective. I think it's better to just watch the show and make what you want of them.

That would be something I'd like to see! It will NEVER happen, lol. It's like saying the princess is going to kiss Heuk Sudol (sp?)....

Could everyone please be careful about posting spoilers. I appreciate the good intentions, but those of us outside of Korea who aren't as far along in the series don't want to know these things before the episodes air. Thanks very much.

Lol Bae; but then, if he can magically reappear in uniform at Ansi Fort (after having been the "the traitor" for helping Namseng escape from Yang Manchun's custody), then I suppose he can get away with anything...

So it’s a major battle with the fate of the nation at stake...DJY is on top of the walls, with lethal flaming stuff of all shapes and sizes whizzing by his head and the enemy climbing ladders at his feet. And Chulin is at the foot of the walls, with arrows, stones and boiling oil raining down all around her. And yet they both have a moment or two for some goo-goo eyes. Aww, isn’t that touching?
Still, it was a great scene. KBS does a really nice job with some of those big battle scenes.

You're right ajk. The battle scenes really draw me in. Although I didn't see the particular scene you've mentioned in your post, I must agree nonetheless. I liked the very first battle scene of this show, the dirt mound scene. That was simply fantastic. I think I'll watch the show tonight. I've missed it a bit too much. I think I'll just have to bear with seeing Chulin's annoying self. I'll try to concentrate on Gulsabiwu.

I haven't seen a battle scene as good as this since "The Immortal Yi Soon Shin" series. I liked it that much. It was so realistic, and the few areas with the Tang soldiers that were computerized looked so real I hardly could tell the difference. And the fiery arrows, fireballs, etc...wonderful touch. It looked perfectly authentic. Eh, I thought the scene with Joyoung and Chulin (that ajk described) was rather...unbelievable? It was also rather strange. The two stare at each other for a while (DJY on the wall, Chulin on the ground)...DJY kills a Tang soldier. DJY looks at Chulin again...he kills another Tang; as he is doing so he stares into her eyes. THAT was rather awkward.......So as he is killing her fellow Tang/Kitan soldiers she's looking at him with wistful affection, and DJY looks at her with a "My heart is broken" kind of look in his eyes? I'm sorry...that simply did not work for me......... Chulin better not do something like that tonight.

Chulin was good tonight, though. She was going to use her authority as Khitan Khan Kid to free DJY, even if it meant going up against her former love. ;D

I don't understand her motives at all. Why can't she just stick to one side? She's either a love-struck fair maiden or she's big, bad, and brutal Khoran chick. I mean, either way, she seems to command DJY's affection so it really doesn't matter, huh?
