How horrible that Joyoung grew up as a slave. Geonseum treats him so bad. For one brief moment, as he was telling Joyoung's mom that he was going to take him, I really thought he'd raise him as his own son. It's even worst to see that Joyoung's parents think that the other is dead. How sad is that? You think your spouse has died, only to find out years later that it wasn't true. It almost made me cry just thinking about it. Is this historically correct? Did Joyoung think his parents were dead when they were in fact alive?

We don't know if they are alive now, tho, just that they were way back when DJY was a baby. His father had that arrow in his back, his mother was betrayed by the guy who lived where her boat came ashore....so, no spoilers please, but we don't really know, just HOPE they can be reunited. It's just mean that DJY's father was lied to. Thinking his wife and baby were killed won't help him get better from the arrow wound.

oh no, it's not a spoiler. I just assumed they were still alive. Which, you're right though, nothing was actually mentioned about either of them dying. But we're barely on episode 8, so anything is possible.
