I'm not sure, but is the Empress' nephew named Wu Sansi?

I recognized the grown up Geom as one of the Kings from AOW but I can't remember his name. I do remember him often pretending he was drunk (much like King Bojang did) just so the warriors and ministers would underestimate him. He didn't reign for very long and I think he was deposed if I remember correctly. I liked him in AOW and so far I like him in DJY even though it's only been 2 episodes since they've shown him as a young man.

Skinz,
Great as always.
A few to add to your list.
It's already been established that Choi Su Jong played Wang Guhn...
The actor who played Bu Kiwon played Taepyoung in Emperor Wang Guhn. He was Koryo's eminent strategist until his death and the rise of prodigy Choi Ung.
The actor who played King Bojang was in the role of Wang Guhn's chief personal guard.
The actor who played the initial Emperor of Tang (initiator of the war that began DJY) also played Hong Yu, general of Koryo under Emperor Wang Guhn.
The actor who played Yeon Gaesomun was also Yu Geumpil, eldest of Wang Guhn's sworn brothers and perhaps (among the warriors of that series) the character most celebrated by the writers of EWG.
Heuk Sudol (younger of DJY's sworn brothers) is being played by the same actor who played Park Sulhee the youngest of sworn brothers to Wang Guhn. This (along with Archfiend/Xue Rengui to Du Kyungsung/Dae Jungsang is why I had previously stated that many of these actors seem to be reprising earlier roles.
And the actor who played the Empress' Nephew Minister Wu Sansi also played Geom Kang the 4th son of Kyun Hwon (who was played by Suh In Suk, AOW's Yi Ui Bang), King of Baekjae. He played that role in... you guessed it, Emperor Wang Guhn. Do you sense a trend?

Seven Stars,
You brought back some memories -- and some shockers!
Tepyoung was kinda of like Mimosa, but seemed more loyal & less vicious that Mimosa...he was one of my favorite characters, and was very sad when Tepyoung died! What a great actor to go form that to Bu Kiwon!
Yu Geumpil -- a MUCH more in control type of character,if i remember....far more subdued than YGSM!
Did King Bojang play the guy who switched places with Wang Guhn, and was killed...so that Wang Guhn could escape?
i certainly remember Park Sulhee -- basically, he was the fan favorite of the show. Heuk Sudol seems like a goofier version of him.
If someone could get photos of the Wang Guhn cast to compare -- Wow -- that would blow my mind!
Now i am aching to see Wang Guhn again!!!!

JP,
I don't know where these guys get the photos, and furthermore I wouldn't know how to post them even if I knew where to find them.... Dense.
Anywho...
Tepyoung was even engaged in a scene wherein he prayed for wind (shades of 3Kingdoms Kong Ming). Great character. Great actor, from Taepyoung to Ming General to Bu Kiwon he's played extremely different types to perfection.
The one who switched places with Wang Guhn was Shin Seungkyum, the 2nd of his sworn brothers. He's apparently among the most highly honored subjects in the history of Koryo. There is a shrine to his memory in ChunCheon (spelling?). He's also the one with the seven star birthmark on his leg (you knew I couldn't leave that detail out). It's how they identified his body after his head had been taken.
King Bojang was instead the leader of the imperial guard. I don't recall the name of the character but Betz does. I'll check with her.
JP if you figure out a way to see Wang Guhn, I'll fly out to Chicago and watch it with you!

I never got to see that drama. I wish they would show reruns of the historical dramas. Welcome back 7S, you've been missed.

Thanks tinkerbell! I've missed chatting with you as well.
I got behind on the show and have been staying away to avoid spoilers. Binged for about 8 or 9 episodes straight over the Christmas holiday. It was nice.
Hope you've been enjoying DJY!

The actor who played Bu Kiwon played Taepyoung in Emperor Wang Guhn. He was Koryo's eminent strategist until his death and the rise of prodigy Choi Ung. BTW, I just watched the episode in which Geom delayed Zhao Wenhui's entrance. The actor who plays Geom is the same actor who played the part of Choi Ung, whom I described in this earlier post. Another EWG connection!

The actor playing Yang Xiaowei is also the one who played Shin Duk (General of Baekjae) under King Kyun Hwon in EWG.

The guy who played King Bojang was actually Bok Ji Gyum in EWG. Also Cho Rensa (mis spelling?) was Bae Hyun Kyung in EWG.

Hi! I'm new here, and would just like to say I'm so glad this website exists! I'm not Korean, but fell in love with the Emperor Wang Guhn series. I have only recently begun to watch Great King Sejong on Wednesdays. Nobody does these historical dramas like the Koreans do. They are exceptionally well-done, well-made, and I understand are even historically accurate! If Americans would do our own history this well, there would be a lot less historical ignorance here.
I just saw the end of the DJY series (sometime in the last couple weeks?), and recognized the actor who was the lead in EWG. That's Choi Soo Jong, right? I only recently found him on YouTube. (That's how they had it spelled there.) I had no idea he was a singing star as well.

Severus, welcome to our board. You may have noticed the King Sejong thread in the "on air" forum section. I hope you'll join in there.
Also, I hear a good series that is coming up is Yi San, which is currently being aired in Korea. I don't think, however, that we will get it in Chicago because it is not KBS. Also, I recently watched Jumong. That was pretty good, but had some flaws. And one that was excellent was Admiral Yi Soon-shin, which aired in Chicago a year or two ago. Really, really good.
That's what I have. LOL.
