luvarchfiend - Conpia is KBS's "Pay for content" service, You can try registering by clicking here: on their home page. One of the options you get is to register as a "Foreigner living abroad", but when I click that, I get an error message saying to contact the Webmaster. The KBS VOD episode selector.Anyway, clicking on the blue "700K" buttons on the VOD page takes you to Conpia. These files are as good as you would see on your TV. If you can live without "Broadcast Quality", click on the red "300K" buttons. These give you very good quality, but they're only available for two weeks after the show is broadcast in Korea. You have to register with KBS (for free), which you can do here (in English). For older episodes, you'll have to use the green "56K" buttons for Low Quality ( Real low quality). If you have streaming video capture software such as WM Recorder, you can save them to your computer. And, of course, none of these episodes have English subtitles.

Soju...thanks for the help. i had previously gotten as far as trying to register on the conpia site and could never get any further than the foreigner living abroad area. i had been trying the 700k, and yes, it always took me to conpia. i thought i had tried the 300k with the same result, but maybe i am mistaken and just encountered another problem with it trying to use Firefox. i think i need to use IE for it to work at all. i will certainly give it another try. and even the 56k. i am desperate to see this show, poor quality and no subtitles will not stop me. i registered with kbs some time ago, so at least i am that far along. i love the way you displayed everything and your comments. even a dolt could follow this (and no, i am not admitting to anything ) your grace is immeasurable.

What's going on in the show exactly? As in plot line so far.... I've been trying to make sense of who the enemies are what they're after. It obviously sounds like treason of some sort, but since most of the people look alike and SOUND alike, I'm having quite a problem making out who's the bad/good guy and what they fighting's all about....

Hi, I'm sorry, Bae, I'm still confused too, mostly because I'm behind. But it's not my fault this time, I've been ill and on top of that, I have had the MOTHER of a migraine and could not stand to look at anything shooting light rays from behind a screen (computer, TV, window shade) for about a week now. But I seem to have recovered, so I'm looking forward to catching up.
It's been my experience that I need to watch at least three weeks of an historical to figure out who the heck is who and what the heck is what. Especially since I have only a sketchy idea of Korean history in the first place. But once those puzzle pieces fall into place, once I figure out who is related to whom, it's very rewarding and absorbing. I can't remember whether you were watching Yi Sun Shin or Dae Jang Geum with us, so I don't know your historical drama "history" so to speak...but that's what happens with me.

Oh So sorry for you Bo. When my mother gets migranes, she goes into hiding.... Glad to know you're feeling well now though. With Emperor Wang-Gun, my first H-drama, I had the most difficult time understanding what in the world was happening, but by the time I got to Dae Jang-Geum, my favorite historical drama, I pretty much knew what I had to about the era in which the show was set. I picked up what was going on by the third or fourth episode, but that's because there was a mix of characters that had distinct features from one another. In DJY THEY ALL look so darn alike, and they're all male so it's hard to keep track of who's who. I've tried K-wiz's character list and it helps a little, but there's no way one can remember all those names in such a short time and we haven't even been introduced to some and some are left out, soooo..... My plan tonight is to write down the names of people as I hear them and a feature/thing only attributed to them. Emperor of Tang, wears a lot of gold..... Lee Dukhwa (not sure of his character's name) has his hair like Jack Sparrow. Hope it works out.

Thanks for the links Knov1, now we now what to look for when watching the show. So, Yeon Gae-somun is yet to be seen I presume? or is he the man that the Tang Navy guy was talking about... having a fleet with a flag of three-legged ravens??? Yang Min-chun is the same guy who played Inyoung's dad on MSMD right? And this guy: Dae Jung Sang, he's Jo Young's father, correct? good. thanks once again. Those links really did help.

YGSM is the second person from the left. Yeah, he's the person the Tang Navy commander was referring to. He's been shown in the drama but not a lot. I'm interested in seeing how he's portrayed in DJY because he's an important person in the history of Goguryeo. And this guy: Dae Jung Sang, he's Jo Young's father, correct? Yeah, that's DJY's father.

What is his position in the army? Dae Jung-sung. He's a general too, then? Ahhh that makes sense. I think I know what's going on now.

I couldn't take the first episode, it seemed too much like the school of overacting. I skipped until the end of the episode (3?) when Yang Minchun? Was telling the other commander that his army would all be killed if they went up the hill. At least I think that's what was happening. I've been hooked from then on even with the overacting by the evil guy wearing the yellow robe with the blind eye.
The 3 main guys, YM, YSGM, and Joyoung's father (great faces) are my favorites so far. I hope he doesn't get killed (DSM) but it doesn't look good for tonight's episode. I also like Hyesuk's ex from Pure in Heart who plays a great sneaky royal advisor. He's perfect.
I also love the freeze frame and filtered effect they use at the show's end. Too bad the previews aren't subtitled. I have no idea of what's coming next.

Yeah, but zorro, isn't it fun just to imagine what's going on from the expressions and the tone of voice? I like to see how close I am to the truth of the previews when I actually see the full show subtitled. Also, previews always try to make you think one thing is happening, when it's really something else, anyway, LOL. So maybe we're better off not actually knowing. ;D

Well, at least Dae Jung Sung survived his attackers, and his wife and baby temporarily escaped, but I yelled an expletive when that "warrior" stabbed him in the back right as he was starting to beat up on that other guy. I mean, c'mon… he already had an arrow stuck in his back, fight fair for Pete's sake.
It may not matter if they've moved years ahead in the story, we may not see him again anyway, but it would be nice if he could somehow find out his wife and baby are still alive.
So the serf must be Joyeong, right?

Someone mentioned serfish/slaveish kind of stuff going on in the show in another thread... Have you guys seen young Dae Jo Young already or are we still in the baby stage?

So is the new 'warrier guy' DJY? if so, the other characters haven't changed at all... they all look to be the same age as when that beautiful little baby was taken. It seems that 20 years have passed. Is this accurate?
