I’m midway through “The Invisible Mr. Choi,” and I have mixed feelings so far.
Highlights: Detective Choi’s superior officer, played by the same actor who played Haein’s intimidating father in “Bizarre Bunch.” Far and away, the best character in the series! Choi’s wife (played by the actress who memorably played the evil “Madam Jami” in “Emperor of the Sea”) does pretty well here, too.
Lowlights: The lead actor (Detective Choi) comes off as WAY too goofy to be believable. It’s just impossible that any police department (Korean or otherwise) would have tolerated this nutcase for more than a week or two.
The child actors (the couple’s son and daughter) do a pretty good job. Though the daughter is sharp as a tack, the son suffers from violent, life-threatening allergies, and has a serious learning disability as well. They’re both quite convincing.
So, yes, I’m lukewarm about “Invisible Mr. Choi”. . . but, judging from all the comments on the California board, I’m also very much in the minority. Some of the California fans are really raving about it. So, check it out and let us know what you think!

My first reaction last night was that this is a ridiculous story, especially the antics of Detective Choi. However, I cheated and read all comments from the California Board, and will continue to watch, since most comments are very positive.

I kept laughing every time Hae-in's father (from BizBunch) spoke, especially when he yelled. He looks better without the shellacked hairstyle he had in BB. I thought it was an interesting first episode, though of course the Detective bothers me. I don't like his stupid behavior, and I really didn't like all the violence. Luckily, I had taped it, so I fast-forwarded though until subtitles popped up again. Isn't the sister of his wife the actress who played the mother of the bride in "Wedding"? I hope the little girl's teeth grow in soon. I know, I'm horrible, but I've never found it cute when little kids are missing teeth. It just looks painful.

I'm with the majority of viewers on the SoCal board, though I haven't actually spoiled myself yet to going to the board. I really like this show and it's only episode two! It's got a good combination of humor, and yes, I like Choi's antics, it's like he still hasn't grown up yet (thought it be wise to), and angst. I really like the actors we've seen so far. That pocket picker lady, how old is she supposed to be? That hospital owner from Hello God, a show I absolutely loved, is back in this one. She appears to be technically playing the same character: cocky, sarcastic, flirty.... SoYoung (is that her name?), is played by a talented actress indeed. I'm usually very picky when it comes to acting-related talent, and I think she's pretty darn good. I'm going to stick with this drama, unline Mr. Goodbye, where, right at the third episode I knew that show was a goner. Such a disappointment for me, the Lee Bo Young fan that I am.

I just watched the first episode now and I must say, I really like it. The guy's an idiot, but he's my kind of stupid. I find him very entertaining along with his wife. I can't wait to watch the next episode. ;D

Apparently I forgot to push a button on my VCR and missed episode 2. I hope it's being repeated today at 1:30, because that's when I timed it to tape again.

I thought this would be an interesting story in the beginning, but now it's almost cartoonish. If it turns into another "Rosy Life" I'm definitely bailing. I don't understand the morbid fascination with storylines revolving around a lead character's horrible suffering and lingering death. There must be an intended message somewhere, but I'm not getting it.
I like the pick pocket girl best… I think she bears a strong resemblance to Bokgu (Rain) in Knocked out by Love. He's my favorite character in any KD so far.
And Solmi, is she the same actress who plays Mira in The Chill Sisters? (the daughter that throws up all the time) If not, they could be twins.

LOL Zorro, Bokgu! Heehee. Hyun-soo, IMO, doesn't look a thing like him. I think it's her face cut that marks strong facial characteristics of Jung Ji Hoon.
And yes, that is solmi. She's a pretty little girl and pretty good actress too. These child K-drama stars are really talented. I wonder to what lengths the casting directors go to find such kids! First, the children from Golden Apple, fabulous! Then this show. It's really amazing to see kids act better than adults sometimes. The show "Hwarang figher Maru" which is a Korean version of the Power Rangers has a great kid cast as well.

I think the main lead is from that popular K-Movie "Friend"?
Really recommend that movie, very touching.

(just finished watching it) btw, what episode are in now? Yes! That's what I thought this show was going to be like because of him. But WHAM! it just smacks you in the face with a bunch of sad and touching moments. Last night was a roller coaster ride of emotions and that was just the first 10-15 minutes of it. We're on episode 11 where Soyeong finds out her father gave her his kidney (or is it liver?) and she leaves the kids with Jangsoo. He then loses them at the amusement park. I thought it was awesome last night with the cliffhanger ending where she finds out about Jangsoo's illness and she starts looking for him. When she finally finds where his new station is she yells at his friend "Where's my husband?!?!" Can't wait to see episode 12 tonight! ;D

It's kidney. Her father gave her a kidney when she was 10.
I'm really addicted to this show. Yesterday's cliffhanger, indeed was quite moving. I was shocked to hear her say "husband" too. It's not like she ever stopped loving him, I think she expected some basic things from him as a husband and father, and he couldn't provide her with those things so she gave up. Otherwise, she would've just gotten with Junho at the first chance she got.
