The mothers (and grandmother) are all power hungry. Palja is a stalker. Yunjeong and Gukwa are both silly. Yunji and Sinhyeong are ignored. And Usek, as sweet as she is, wants plastic surgery.
Who could ask for anything more?

Who could ask for anything more? Oh man... you nailed it zorro! - Yunjeong and Gukwa are both silly. ... and STUPID. Sweet-faced little Gukwa is anything but bold (like she always describes herself)... she's wishy-washy and sappy. Junjeon seems not to have even one working brain cell. whew ... I feel better now.

LOL Zorro. You seem to have captured the essence of these women quite well. Palja scares me... The whole innocent act was broken yesterday when she caught Grampa's assistant by the collar! That was a scary moment! Usek and Yunji and Shinyeong have really NOTHING to do on the show. Usek informs people when someone goes out, occasionally makes dinner, and complains about her perfectly fine face. Yunji cries and shouts a lot, but I'm liking her character a lot more than others because she is so pure and kind. Shinyeong, there's a lull in her character's life right now, now that she's butted out of Yunhu's life. She rarely ever smiles anymore...
Yunjeong I like, but she's quite the ditz. She doesn't work and what happened to her being a career woman? Has she no self-pride?
Eomjiossa gets on my nerves for being the calculating, manipulative, liar that she is. And Okgeum just plain cannot like ANYBODY.
Gukhwa... She keeps calling Yunhu a child when 1. she's the 19 yr. old. 2. she's not as mature as she'd like to think she is 3. she keeps making those odd faces that look like a toddler after they've tasted something sour.
Kathleen got it, Gukhwa and bold, are you kidding me? This chick keeps running away from a relationship with a man on HER side... BOLD?

Come on, you guys! I have to defend Gukhwa. She is so sweet and hardworking. Her only problem is that she isn't nearly as smart as she thinks she is, so she isn't clear on the right thing to do and doesn't stand up for herself (OK, wishy-washy, but you can also chalk that up to dumbness). But her character is good. She is bold, if you consider that she left her little Korean exclave in China to start a new life, had that life turned upside-down in an instant, and didn't fall apart like the child she was but rather rolled up her sleeves and started scrubbing floors, selling eggs on the highway (What is it about Koreans eating eggs in the weirdest situations--a sauna? the Highway??). Whatever it took to earn a living. This business with Yunhu is not what she planned on at all and she's had a hard time figuring out how to deal with it. She can be annoying but she has a good heart. That's my defense of Gukhwa. Yunjeong's best quality is that she doesn't have much ego, despite being so spoiled, and just laughs when people find fault with her. But she is terribly spoiled and insensitive. I hold it against her that she is so mean about Gukhwa. And I can't believe she and her mother don't think it's insulting to have a houseful of furniture delivered to replace the stuff the family chose themselves and have been living with for years. I guess poorer people don't have a right to their feelings.

Absolutely, Lucy. Of all you said to "defend" Gukhwa, "She can be annoying but she has a good heart..." pretty much surmises what I feel about her.
About the furniture thing, you've got to admit that Okgeum DOES have a bit of a complex when it comes to the upperclass. She's got major issues with people being "better" (for lack of a better word) than her. EX: The lipstick incident. Okgeum would've much preferred a DIL like her, so she could not only have someone under HER command for a change, but someone she can relate to and get along with. To be honest, she hasn't put in the effort Yunjeong has to having a better relationship. But, Yunjeong, in her typical oblivious fashion, did act rather inconsiderate in yesterday's episode. She's willing to break up because she can't get ALL of her furniture to fit in that TINY room? That was pretty dumb of her.

In other dramas the couple goes shopping together. At least if she goes with her mother, they measure the room first. Those people were going to put some of the new stuff in the living room! I expected Eomji to say that it would look nice in HER bedroom. That Palji , sucking up to both women by putting down the one who isn't there. I hope Eomji catches her at it. She'll be really outspoken and give her a good one. Okgeum might just roll her eyes and grab her head, with no consequences for the vixen.

I know.. Did they honestly think that they could just barge in there with all that furniture and just refurnish the entire house with what was bought? I'm really hoping that Palji or Palja does not end up with either Pungu or the Assistant Tailor. They're both such nice people and she's this scheming rat!
