“Dae Jo Young” started Monday night on TAN. I like it so far. That’s good. But . . . it replaced “Seoul 1945,” which still had 13 episodes left to go (!!??!!). That’s BAD. TAN’s terse announcement was that “Seoul 1945” was being discontinued due to “copyright problems.” Sheesh. “Seoul 1945” was probably my favorite K-drama right now (running neck-and-neck with “Jumong”) and I’m sure going to miss it. Someone on the Philly board mentioned that it’s already available on e-Bay. Maybe I’ll have to bid on a set just to see how it ends . . .

Wow, that's awful.
I'd seen that before about the lawsuit but that happens a lot with children of famous people political or not. The boycott seems a little mroe disturbing.
I would really hate for this series to have no resolution.

Seoul 1945 already ended in Korea. The series finished in September and was 71 episodes long. It was originally supposed to be 60 episodes. It got good ratings so that's probably why it got extended. It's safe to assume that it wasn't just yanked off the air in Korea. Plus they don't cancel shows in Korea like they do over here. In Korea, if they want to end a show, they'll cut down the number of episodes but still give the show an ending. Viewers outside of Korea might be the ones out of luck. If TAN was forced to stop airing the show then you'd have to assume the same would apply to others (airing Seoul 1945) as well.

PLEASE don't say that!!! To make it up to 50 or 60 episodes and to just have it end there when you know that the series is 71 episodes long, I just couldn't put into words the amount of devastation that I would feel.

Yes it happened to me. I don't even get TAN. I was watching the next weeks episoe CM. About one of the North Korean military Leaders about to assasinate the high ranking NK official. Then boom! no new episodes.

It took me a while to figure out what was happening with TAN, but they finally posted a notice about this (in Hangul, so I had to ask someone on the Philly board to translate it for me).
We now know that "Seoul 1945" was apparently dropped from TAN's lineup for "copyright problems" (whaever that means)!
So, there is no indication that anything is going to happen to the "Seoul 1945" broadcasts Chicago fans are viewing.

For what it's worth, Seoul 1945 went to the very end on WKTV in Virginia. It's strange that there would be copyright programs on some stations but not others.

It's strange that there would be copyright programs on some stations but not others. That's kinda what I don't get. How does one station run into a copyright problem but not other stations? You'd think the same would apply to all. KBC aired Seoul 1945 last night. I guess whatever the issue with TAN was doesn't apply to KBC and they're going to continue giving the show.

I think it has to do with the federal law President clinton signed many years ago. It prevented broadcasters from modifying Original programming, showing unapproved copyrighted material and not showing trade marks without permission. As you can see this federal law may only effect some places and not others. I watch KBC programs exclusivly and i am effected. It is so bad that i am not even getting any subtitled programs now. President Bush needs to undo this federal law.
